I am now extremely concerned for the Panaches. I feel sure that Panache would have put in an appearance, no matter how brief, over the festive season. I understand that they are a private couple. I just wish that we could contact them without appearing "pushy". Any ideas?

It is goodbye time. I fully intend returning tomorrow. Must take one last look at that bonnie boy. He is utterly delightful.

The Good Morning thread tells me it’s Kittys birthday. A very happy day to you, hope you’ll be spoiled rotten . .

Your new grandson is indeed a beautiful boy grannyg, hope everyone is rested now.

Germs continue to thrive here, sort of withdraw then come back in force. It seems our hosting skills have improved . There are much worse things I know but tired of it now, the ability to think and sufficient energy to do ‘normal’ things is still awol in us both.

I’ve also wondered how we could know about Mr and Mrs panache, but can think of nothing helpful soop. I’ve sort of concluded we may never know.

Here’s hoping all poorly people feel much better soon. It’s actually dry here so we’re aiming for some air.

Happy Birthday kitty, was last year a big one or is it this year?
I had a very nice meal last night, we went quite early so my friend came in for a couple of glasses of wine and we set the world to rights, she was still across the road home at 9:45pm, we really are lightweights now.
It is damp and grey here but I can’t comment on temperature as I haven’t put my nose out yet.
Have as good a day as you can everyone and you poorly ones, get better soon.

At last the germs are on their way out ( promise time for Grampy to catch them lol) here , thank goodness. The decorations must be put away today and we have to have a stock check in the freezers because we have reached the stage where neither of us know what we have and dinner has turned into a bizarre mixture of odd things!

Now I am feeling more like myself it’s time to tackle those jobs!

Ann We two favour an early start to the evening and a not-too-late return. Funny, isn't it, that once-upon-a-time, we couldn't get enough of staying up as late as we liked. Except my Papa always insisted on waiting up for me. No way could I tiptoe unseen through the front door. He was there like the spectre at the feast.

Sorry to hear that the wretched germs are hanging on in there. Thus far, thankfully, we have escaped. Although on Monday evening we are attending our pal's 80th birthday bash. Thirty guests. What's the betting a few rogue germs will be exchanged. MacSporran has a date with the haematologist in Oban mid week. Please may he escape any infection as he would suffer more than I would. I'd happily take on his germs on his behalf.

I am fearing the worst regarding Panache . If only we could enquire without causing unneccessary upset.

In the last kitchen someone had made contact with the Panaches by pm, but I can’t remember who. MrP had deteriorated I think. I do fear the worst.
Can anyone remember who had made contact? Perhaps they know the name of the home and a discreet phone call could be made?

I believe it is accommodation for older people which they own and not a home where The Panache’s live.
I expect no information would be given.I don’t even know where in Wales they live.
It is unsettling not to know but as posted I suspect we never will.
I have hesitated to post this as it is rather embarrassing but while out last night in a very small restaurant, really small, my friend and I, who hadn’t seen each other since before Christmas, must have talked rather a lot.
Suddenly a couple at the next table, probably in their early 30’s asked to be moved.
We could only assume they were fed up with our conversation, it was rather awkward, at least we didn’t have crying children with us.
I have to say we weren’t raucous at all, just talking.

Soop, do have any first defence? Boots sell it and I used it when DH had a nasty cold in early December which turned into a chest infection. He was on antibiotics and got better only to get another one just before Christmas! Luckily we have a very good practice and he got an appointment on Christmas eve! More antibiotics, more first defence. I also slept in the spare room and have escaped the lurgy so far. Perhaps MacS could try it before you go to your party.

We're ready for our next big adventure together when he's admitted to hospital tomorrow. He's very calm and I'm presenting as calm but have had a secret few tears just once when the concern for him overcomes rational thought! However, there are many more dear kitcheners who cope with far worse ... and I'm TOYA.

I'll be staying at a hotel close by the hospital for the duration and will take my iPad with me so will be able to catch up on all kitchen news. In the meantime I hope and pray Panache is able to make contact soon. Also soop your journey to hospital must be imminent and I hope they can give you the support and answers you need. Carillion it is now at a stage where you want it all over and done with and you can see your DH slowly returning to normal. You must look after yourself and get some rest- I know that will difficult under the circumstances but he will need care when you return home.

It’s hard to think that we may never have more news of the Panaches, I do hope we’re wrong to think that may be the case but sadly our fears may be well founded.

Well we’ve seen dd4 safely into her new home. It went as well as it could have done really, The removal men were absolute stars, hardworking, respectful and did everything they’d promised and more besides. The new house did need a lot more cleaning than she’d expected so we all worked like Trojan’s to get it sorted and we were able to leave her last night in a more pleasant environment. I don’t think my standards or hers are particularly exacting, let’s just say the previous owners clearly sang from a different song sheet!! We were both pretty tired when we got home last night but it was 3 days very well spent and much appreciated by our daughter too. She has a good group of supportive friends who will help out in the weeks/months to come as she settle in. After church this morning we had an impromptu lunch invitation from friends, prefect ax we’d rather run out of steam!

So having “de-Christmassed” our house this afternoon and enjoyed biscuits and cheese with a glass or 2 of red this evening it will be back to “auld clothes and porridge” from tomorrow! It’s now almost time for bed so I wish you all a good restful night. x

Well done grannieq - you have given your DD a flying start and deserved your glasses of red! I finally conquered to ironing mountain about 20 minutes ago. It has been growing faster than I could clear it this week.
Carillion we shall all be with you in spirit tomorrow. My mum had something similar in her late eighties and made a very good recovery.
Builders return tomorrow, so I have bought more biscuits!
