I feel sorry for Prince Harry

After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.

She walked the aisle alone, Charles met her at the entrance to
the choir to accompany her to the alter. Brides don’t walk the
aisle alone with the exception of Megan and Julie Andrews in ‘the Sound of Music’ !

I'm sure a similar list of slights could be dredged up about 'Waity Katy', vrock. Not that that excuses such aspersions, but the vast majority of UK people, in both cases, welcomed both Kate and Meghan with open arms. Media always publishes the bad stuff rather than the good stuff.

Smashing picture of Harry in the Times this morning.

Just to add, I am mystified as I thought M had been made very welcome, allowed to live with H before the wedding and I always remember Prince Charles gallantly walking her up the aisle.

Or as well as baby pics, perhaps shopping in a supermarket, pushing her own trolley, bag packing, paying and driving off without any security.

Too right Jane10

merlot. ?

Jane10 Fri 17-Jan-20 08:03:38

Dear Meghan,
Please can we have our Harry back? He seemed so happy and in his element yesterday on one of the dreadful 'Royal duties', just like his old self. Looks like the US style 'celebrity' lifestyle that you appear to want to resume doesn't suit him much.
Please return him ASAP.
Thank you

If you don’t believe that Britain is toxic for H and M you’ve only got to read threads such as these. They go back to before the wedding. Her clothes, hair, holding Harry’s hand, giving feminist speeches etc. Then holding bump wrong, holding the baby wrong etc. People have been putting the boot in from day one.

MawB … your scenario sent shivers down my spine.

I had something similar in mind, but I didn't want to tempt the fates by saying out loud!

I believe they will do something like this soon enough.
No manipulation (of the press, the public) is too tacky for M to use to get the attention she needs.

As Wallace Simpson said at the Duke of Windsor’s funeral “He gave up so much for so little”

Their Xmas card was along those lines www.thesun.co.uk/news/10613668/prince-harry-megham-markle-christmas-card-baby-archie/

Ellianne if said Primark jumper was secondhand...... might that be 'woke'? grin

MerylStreep Thu 16-Jan-20 20:12:20

Ellianne
It's not very 'woke' ? to wear a Primark jumper. Better that's it's wool sourced from your own sheep ?

Ellianne Thu 16-Jan-20 20:03:32

That's funny Maw. Don't forget in those cute pictures you should include the dogs and of course MM should be in a Primark jumper with baby sick on it and disheveled hair.

merlotgran Thu 16-Jan-20 19:54:03

Nice one, Urmstongran

And how about, 'Woke me up before you go go?'

Baggs Thu 16-Jan-20 19:37:11

maw, grin.

maddyone Thu 16-Jan-20 19:33:43

Brilliant Maw. True as well.

I still feel sorry for him because of everything he has had to give up, whereas Meghan has gained everything. Apparently she has said that the atmosphere in Britain is ‘toxic’ and this is how she rewards Britain for it’s hospitality for the last couple of years. Every time I have seen a clip of Harry and Meghan on the news, the crowds have been there waving, giving her flowers and hugs, and apparently genuinely pleased to see her. This apparently is ‘toxic’ Britain.
I’m afraid I’ve come to the conclusion that Meghan is a two faced woman, who has used Harry for his wealth and his fame. It’s sad, especially for Harry’s family who clearly love him, that’s why they are letting him have much of what he wants, according to the statement released by the Queen.

MawB Thu 16-Jan-20 19:29:03

I am feeling increasingly uncomfortable over the way Meghan is using underprivileged groups of women to up her profile now she's breaking away from the control of the RF
Oh how somebody should appoint me as their adviser/PR person.
Instead the Women’s Refuge visit, I would have put out some Uber cute pictures of her playing with Archie, Archie in a Mountie’s uniform plus hat, perhaps on a rocking horse, some cute pics of Archie and Harry opening Christmas pressies and public opinion would have melted
Add in a sweet Skype call to Mr Markle showing him a gurgling Archie all gummy grin, and all would have been forgiven.
MM does not realise what a powerful weapon she has in the image of the happy family (call me cynical) and that baby pics trump any number of Women’s Aid visits (especially when the latter was arranged at short notice to try to “sink” the Mail on Sunday story.)
Happy to help, don’t mention it.

Jabberwok Thu 16-Jan-20 19:04:02

Words fail me! The sooner Harry goes the better, and we can only hope that neither he nor his wife ever return to this country again! An added bonus would be that we neither see or hear from him ever again either!

Sparklefizz Thu 16-Jan-20 18:52:49

Well as usual, public opinion will be ignored Jennifer, because as long as the very ‘woke’ Justin Trudeau is in charge, it appears that they will be welcome.

I wonder how Meghan reconciles her opinions with the fact that Justin Trudeau was pictured "blackface" several times.

Anniebach Thu 16-Jan-20 18:46:59

Urmstongran. I thought I misheard the news reader when he
spoke about that song. They are mocking us.

bluebirdwsm Thu 16-Jan-20 18:40:51

I am tired of their manoeuvring, posing, whining, entitlement and attention seeking. I hope they soon settle wherever they are going and spend some time with Archie. Harry can then get all the help he obviously needs [and will need] as he can afford the very best health care going and indeed should have had before now.

He is going to have one hell of a shock one day when he realises how gullible he has been.

Urmstongran Thu 16-Jan-20 18:33:24

That song comes in my mind ‘Hit the Road Jack & don’t you come back, no more, no more, no more, no more’ ?

Have a nice life folks, get on with it, without the perks from the U.K. taxpayers. Seems fair to me!

Oopsminty Thu 16-Jan-20 18:07:35

I've lost any interest in them

May they have a happy life

With no more press coverage. Ever.

maddyone Thu 16-Jan-20 18:06:29
