I feel sorry for Prince Harry

After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.

I think it was Megan's intention to return to Canada from the beginning. Let's see how long the marriage lasts, I am sorry but there is something about her that makes me feel uncomfortable, and I do not trust her sincerity towards Harry.

I live in a rented council property, if I chose to live in another
part of the country for several months I would be evicted.

Well just when you think that the Meghan threads couldn’t sink any further into the gutter, along comes Urm with the cosmetic surgery story. Your post disgusts me - what’s its relevance, why did you post that? I used to have done respect for you as an interesting feisty poster. So she’s had cosmetic surgery - so fucking what?

Anniebach Wed 15-Jan-20 08:47:59

Iam I am sorry you consider posters who have different opinions to you to be - bitter old ladies .

JenniferEccles Wed 15-Jan-20 08:45:14

Thomas Markle calls it the Markle nose!

He wondered if his grandson would inherit it but sadly he is unlikely to ever see for himself.

Waves to Como2020 and Yehbutnobut. I'm relieved not to be the only one who sees this hounding of M and H as extraordinary and horrible.

Yehbutnobut Wed 15-Jan-20 08:01:48

The very worst of bitter old ladies.

Como2020 Wed 15-Jan-20 07:52:03

breaking cover Is exactly what is said when a fox breaks cover when being hounded by a pack of dogs.

I'm pretty sure in the great scheme of things Archie will be OK.

Like Princess Margaret thought she would've made a better queen, Harry, I think thought he'd make a better King. He and Meghan could have carved out a very useful role with their charity work, at the same time supporting their father and step mother and eventually William and Kate when it's their turn. But both Harry and Meghan are I think, a little miffed that they are not in pole position.
I think William and Kate will make a wonderful King and Queen with or without the support of Harry and Meghan. I fear that Harry and Meghan will end up like our abdicated King and consort, out on a limb with little security, disgruntled and jealous. A little humility acceptance and kindness on their part is maybe what was needed. What a shame.

I am so sorry for Archie. I doubt he will ever know England, nor have the relationships with his paternal aunts, uncles and cousins. She has no family and, therefore, neither will he.

Just seen photos of Meghan years ago with her dad. She used to have quite an impressive hooter didn’t she? Hence the nose job I suppose for the screen.

Linda369 Wed 15-Jan-20 05:01:09

Quite agree @Gagajo I think the British media has treated Meghan very badly, I suspect because she is black and an independent woman. I am sad that Meghan and Harry have chosen to spend more time away from the U.K. but it is not a nice place to be currently. I wish them both well.

I think Harry is under the control of his wife. Controllers separate their victim from friends and family, even country.
It’s very hard for the victim to see what is happening to them. I hope someone close to him is aware of it.

Pixxie7 Wed 15-Jan-20 02:41:29

I don’t think this is down to Harry alone, I think Meghan thought she could come in and take over, I think she is jealous of Kate and has realised she was never going to be as important as her. For 2 people who hate publicity they seem to chase it. No sympathy for either of them.
If they want to move to another country let them but don’t expect tax payers from any country to fund them.

Pinkquartz, whilst I think what you have said is the truth, after all no one can deny that their SussexRoyal website was set up months ago, but I do feel sorry for Harry, and even more so for Archie. Harry is totally in love with his wife, that’s good, but because of that he is giving up his entire family, his homeland, his job (because being a royal is a job) his friends, and all the love and support he has always received from his family. But not only this, he has given all this up on behalf of his child, who is unlikely to ever know his large extended family, or his birthright. How sad that is for baby Archie.

HannahLoisLuke Tue 14-Jan-20 23:40:24

Wow, 21 pages!
This subject even beats the "Do I smell?" thread from last week.
Whether we're royalists or not we're certainly interested in H &M aren't we?

MissAdventure Tue 14-Jan-20 23:37:18

The trouble I have is that I don't feel that sorry for the royals.
They will work something out and get past it, or, more unlikely; they won't.

Nobody has died, they all have very comfortable lives, and all families have traumatic times and deal with them.

Bridgeit Tue 14-Jan-20 22:53:36

Pinkquartz, perhaps she meant - running away, -we just didn’t know it?

merlotgran Tue 14-Jan-20 22:49:37

Got my link up first. Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah! grin

lucywinter Tue 14-Jan-20 22:47:47

Snap merlot! grin

lucywinter Tue 14-Jan-20 22:47:08

Pictures of Meghan in the Mail and the Sun tomorrow, "breaking cover" in Canada. grin

merlotgran Tue 14-Jan-20 22:45:27

Suppose the press will continue to inflict photographs of them on us in our newspapers,

You haven't had to wait very long, Annie

suziewoozie Tue 14-Jan-20 22:40:13

I have to say that the sheer indefatigability of certain posters is rather awe inspiring.?

pinkquartz Tue 14-Jan-20 22:34:01

```````why is anyone still debating what drove Meghan away when there is now printed proof that they set up their new business patents and media blogs etc at least a year ago. meaning it had already been planned.
So over a year ago.
Before Archie was born.
You don't have to read Tabloids to see that M has kept to her plan.
We can congratulate her for being a strong independent woman who knows what she wants.
What is wrong is that she has been fibbing to the world that she wanted to hit the ground running at being part of a modern RF......
She spotted a golden opportunity and she has taken it.
She is being true to herself but has been lying to all of us.
The video clip showing H asking the head of Disney for a voiceover job for M happened in July....yet the Press didn't give that away. They could have done but didn't.
That occasion was when H turned down attending a Memorial service for Royal Marines killed by IRA bombs.
Actions speak louder than words..
His choice was to watch a Disney Premier and try to get his wife a job.
I don't think they need anyone's sympathy they are doing fine.
Anniebach Tue 14-Jan-20 22:33:50
I don’t see how the six see how the six months here, six in Canada/America could work , as lemon has said, school,
work ,
Think it’s cheerio to them.
My cousin has emailed me from Canada, ‘thanks for sending
those three here for our taxes go keep them’.
Suppose the press will continue to inflict photographs of them
on us in our newspapers,
