I feel sorry for Prince Harry

After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.

I think, correct me if I’m wrong Annie, that Annie is saying that Meghan has brought the Royal family, and particularly Harry, into disrepute. Or as the dictionary puts it, ‘the state of being held in low esteem by the public.’

JenniferEccles Thu 16-Jan-20 10:59:10

I may be wrong but my understanding is that their plan is to eventually move from Canada to the US but not while Trump is President!!

Needless to say M can’t stand him and I would guess the feeling is mutual!!

So Canada is stuck with them !

Anniebach Thu 16-Jan-20 11:08:25

Yes maddy. Just that . Bridgeit said she was getting all the
s**t‘,

she has brought all this on herself and caused hurt to the royal
family.

For me a marriage means ‘give and take’, he is doing all the giving she is doing all the taking.

I am feeling increasingly uncomfortable over the way Meghan is using underprivileged groups of women to up her profile now she's breaking away from the control of the RF.

They've said their aim is to be financially independent which means they are using people from poorer echelons to ensure they get richer and richer.

Meghan now has a team of people 'putting her out there.' Harry will eventually join her.

I think their popularity will soon take a downward direction if they're not careful.

You can't fool all of the people all of the time.

maddyone Thu 16-Jan-20 11:09:15

Well as usual, public opinion will be ignored Jennifer, because as long as the very ‘woke’ Justin Trudeau is in charge, it appears that they will be welcome.

Not easy getting to the truth, but before he married Meghan, Harry seemed perfectly happy with his family, his brother especially. Since he married her, he's hardly seen his brother or his nephews and nieces - what's all that about. They didn't live far from each other.

They seem to want to have their cake and eat it, as the saying goes. They want the taxpayers to pay for their security costs and they want to keep their Royal status, but they don't want to do the boring, every day Royal duties, standing in a cold village hall chatting to pensioners in Scunthorpe. Well, you can't have both. I would respect them more, if they said, we want to be a normal, ordinary family and give up their Royal status and all the money they get from the State and Prince Charles. They are independently wealthy anyway, so why does Harry need £2.5 million a year?

Meghan has cut herself off from her father who did some daft things but nothing so awful to warrant total exclusion from her life. Her father still hasn't seen the baby or met Prince Harry. Not normal. He has a right to feel hurt and a right to tell his side of the story too. He only published the letter she gave him when her friends did a "tell-all" to an American magazine. He isn't the bad person here. And now she's going to court and everything will be dragged out into the open and she says she doesn't like the media and wants to keep everything private. Don't go to court then!

Sussexborn Thu 16-Jan-20 11:32:18

One of the reasons the RF don’t sue newspapers is that court cases will bring up all kinds hidden areas that would be better remaining private. MM will not have control over what comes out. I wonder if this has been going on behind the scenes and is part of the reason for her “escape”.

Her father kept quiet until she briefed her “friends” to go to the media with untruths!

All the talk of being a big tv star was also bunkum. She earned 30% of the amount the stars earned. Nearing 40 her career was unlikely to take off.

Traudeau cannot speak for Canada.....they, the Canadians, do not want them there.
It is very complex for me to explain but there are newspaper articles stating it won't work for Canada to have members of the Royal fam there.
I put a link up for the article
Meghan is never going to go and live quietly, and she will annoy the Canadians with her constant attention seeking behaviour.
Which is really what it all comes down to with her.

She wants cameras snapping away and filming her......she didn't want to play by the RF rules and now she thinks she can go it alone.
But she can't because of a thing called Real Life.

Harry clearly needs to do some proper work. he has too much time to feel sorry for himself and also he lets Meghan tell him how things should be. Time he grew up.

It looks as if their dream of being so special outside the RF is not going to happen.

Jabberwok Thu 16-Jan-20 12:02:44

It is as if Harry has been bewitched by this lady, quite weird!
Reminds me of the old ditty doing the rounds after the abdication, which went: 'Hark the herald angels sing, Mrs Simpson's pinched our King '! History seems to be repeating itself?!

MerylStreep Thu 16-Jan-20 12:20:24

Seacliff
^ I think they will choose not to have anymore children^
There is a lot of 'gossip' around that she is pregnant again.
I have to agree, looking at 2 pictures of her recently.

tickingbird Thu 16-Jan-20 12:20:25

You may or may not buy into thus but I follow an astrologer called Jessica Adams. She writes some very good articles and two years ago predicted trouble with the RF beginning in November 2019. She also studied H & M’s charts at the time of the engagement and said, due to positions in their charts, M would either help H make a fortune or lose one! These are date stamped articles. She’s also put one out today saying she believes they’ll lose their titles of have to give up their ‘brand’. Interesting.

pinkquartz Thu 16-Jan-20 12:22:34

Jabberwok

Or as I read on MN H has been "foofed"

Calendargirl Thu 16-Jan-20 12:47:56

Yes, I think they will soon be having another baby. Wonder if they will choose to make an appearance outside a Canadian hospital, or if it will all be a big secret again.

Cherrytree59 Thu 16-Jan-20 13:47:11

I wonder if the people of Canada would have been happier if the Royal couple had said.. ...

"As a family we would love to make Canada our home.
We feel it would be a wonderful country raise our child(ren)".

Instead of....
"We are going to live here in Canada, because it suits us to do so, whilst biding our time until U.S. has a new president and then we will be off to to LA.

Bridgeit Thu 16-Jan-20 14:16:58

So what are the answers to falling in love ? deny it & be unhappy & alone , or take a chance in the hope & expectation that all will be ok.
A journey surely many of us posting on here have already embarked upon.
There are no guarantees in life, no matter who we are.
Sometimes a leap of faith is the better & honest option.

pinkquartz Thu 16-Jan-20 14:51:22

sometimes it is not really love but more like an addiction.

lucywinter Thu 16-Jan-20 14:53:18

Oh, I think they are in love.

merlotgran Thu 16-Jan-20 14:55:26

Love is blind. As my old granny used to caution.

SirChenjin Thu 16-Jan-20 15:01:58

I think H is in love with M and M is in love with a prince.

pinkquartz Thu 16-Jan-20 15:02:11

lucywinter

H might be...not so sure M is capable

Anniebach Thu 16-Jan-20 15:30:57

Could one be in love with the other and the other in love with
herself.

Atqui Thu 16-Jan-20 15:47:21

I’ve skimmed through all the pages so apologies if someone has already said this. Harry ‘s loss of his mother , and her relations with the press ( which ever way you look at it)must have been horrendous for him, but he must have had access to the very best psychiatrists for therapy to deal with ensuing mental health issues, which most traumatised people cannot afford. Time to move on if that is what is driving the present situation. Having said that I do feel sorry for him as he is presumably trying to please his wife and his extended family.

NotTooOld Thu 16-Jan-20 15:49:54

I just remarked to DH that MM looks pregnant in that pic with the women's group. On the other hand she didn't look pregnant in the brown outfit with the long skirt she wore on her return from Canada. I suspected the 'all girls together' photo was an old one but who knows?

Urmstongran Thu 16-Jan-20 17:56:59

@SussexRoyal have released a video today of Harry’s last duty as a senior royal. The draw for the rugby something or other.

And in what could be interpreted as nod to his imminent exit to North America, the soundtrack was the Stone Roses' indie hit This Is the One, which contains the lyrics: 'I'd like to leave the country for a month of Sundays'. These words are not heard in the video but it seems inconceivable the royal couple's advisers were unaware of the lyrics when the well-known song was chosen.

Wow. The lyrics accompanying the video would obviously get attention. Shameless.

merlotgran Thu 16-Jan-20 17:59:15

I'm beginning to hope they don't come back.
