If Meghan's comment, 'It's not working for me.' is true then it's breathtakingly arrogant. They've been married less than two years and we all know that marriages have to be worked at. They don't have a good track record in the RF but to throw your toys out the pram at such an early stage shows she was never going to make any real effort and conformity is anathema.

Leaving Harry to sort out negotiations amidst gossip/reports that it's 'her way or the highway,' makes me feel he's on a hiding to nothing. If only he'd had a bit more backbone in the early days and not been so keen to fade into the background while Meghan took centre stage it might not have come to this.

She's reduced him to this fragile state. It's just my opinion of course but she's expecting him to choose between his family, country and his royal life so she can rise even higher, having plonked her feet firmly on the rungs of the royal ladder.

Compassion! We need to use our compassion for people who have to change tack AND also who don't get enough to eat.

All members of the Royal Family are very well off and this hooha is all about how to keep the monarchy viable.

The Royals need to live more frugally but they don't have to do so as they are landcd aristocrats. But they need to live more frugally 1. as moral behaviour and 2. to improve their public image.

But please let them do it properly and give up the titles and any expectation of public money. I'm sure the extremely wealthy RF will provide for them and it seems Harry has a substantial inheritance. It would be dignified if in exchange they could refrain from interviews slamming the RF and Harry's grandmother, father and brother because family rifts are best dealt with in private.

I haven't seen racism myself and I think the relationship this couple have had with the press could have been made much more positive but it seems they refused to take the advice of experienced communications professionals.

It isn't unusual for people to be cautious about previously married older actresses and very swift weddings. I thought the nation enjoyed and celebrated their wedding and I was very impressed by Doria Ragland.

I guess we'll never know the truth of what happened behind closed doors though.

Well I see that William and Harry have delivered a statement saying that a false report about them in a UK newspaper is false and that inflammatory language is offensive and potential harmful.
I have been very sad to see some posts on GN where opinions have been formed often by such, sometimes offensive newspaper reports, about a the RF, when they cannot possibly know the truth behind the such reports.
This is a public forum which can be in turn used by the media.
I am a Republican, but I still have compassion for those involved in this difficult situation, whatever their status.

She cannot change having being born and raised in the US, therefore a US citizen
She cannot change being divorced
She cannot change being biracial
She cannot change who is POS of a father and step sister are
She cannot change her age
She cannot change her US based English
She cannot change he proposed "too soon"
I can continue.

They are doing what is best for them. I understand why they don't want their child to grow in such a circus.

I think the understanding of racism by posters who deny it, on this thread and on GN in general, is pretty poor and demonstrates no grasp of the nuances involved.

Perhaps we could have a few examples of the racism some people on here says exists. If I were to be presented with concrete examples I’m very willing to accept that Meghan has been subject to racism, but I haven’t seen anything to suggest racism at all. Was the Queen racist when she refused Meghan the tiara she wanted to wear for her wedding? Was Catherine racist when she asked Meghan to treat staff with respect? I’d like to know the details of the alleged racism. I don’t think that unreasonable.

There is no racism on this thread, and the reason Meghan has had some ridicule in the UK is the sort of things she says and does.Even so, there was so much goodwill towards her at the time of the wedding.
She has split away from her own family and her friends appear to be all celebrities ( a bit odd) and she went through so many members of staff in a short time, that it suggests the problem lies with her.
Now she has vanished off to Canada before the dust has settled.

I feel very sad for all concerned but I remember the horrible things that were said in the media about Camilla, things about her past and her looks and when we were in the USA we observed outrageous things written about her in The National Enquirer and other similar publications. Meghan says they don’t have that sort of thing in the USA yet there are numerous similar US publications and gossip internet sites. However Camilla seems to have integrated very well into the royal family, it took years and tolerance on both sides. I also remember the hurtful things that were said about Kate Middleton and her family before she married William. It was alleged that she chose her university just to pursue William and there was a great deal of mockery about her mother’s previous profession of flight attendant. She has weathered all this with dignity and appears to be an excellent partner for William and mother to their their lovely children. Meghan has allegedly told Harry that it isn’t working for her, if it isn’t working for both of them then they are doing the right thing by breaking away and forging their own life but if it isn’t working for one of them then it seems a very drastic step to walk away.

The things that disturb me most are the veiled threats to have no holds barred interviews with Tom Bradby or Oprah Winfrey and Harry seemingly touting for voiceover work for Meghan with a Disney representative. The latter is on video so not a media fabrication.

My eyes and ears are certainly NOT closed Gracesgran, there has been no racism with regard to The Duchess of Sussex, in fact the opposite, she was warmly welcomed, and there is plenty of footage of the crowds pleasure in seeing her to prove the point. No doubt you would like there to have been, because then you can be offended on her behalf.
