I can’t help wondering how long all of this has been planned.
Did Meghan ever have any intention of becoming a working royal or was this latest development planned ages ago?
Fingers crossed for sleep tonight🤞
After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.

[sigh]
Easybee, Lemongrove, Merlotgran, and Barmyoldbat, and a few others have hit the nail on the head.
Some other posters on here seem to have some romantic notion of H+M riding off into the sunset, to live a wonderful life totally free of their terrible families. Their families, the press, the racist British (that’s you lot ladies) and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all are blamed for their unhappiness. They are newly married, have a beautiful baby, were apparently madly in love, and have all the wealth and fame Meghan ever wanted. They should theoretically be happy, but apparently Meghan was bored at Frogmore and she didn’t like the duty that being royal necessitates. She fell out with her staff, her advisers, her sister in law, her father, her entire family on both sides except her mother! Don’t the romantics amongst us see the pattern?
Meghan is the problem. I hope that whatever they decide tomorrow, that Meghan is happy with it, because after all, what Meghan wants, Meghan gets. But I truly hope she is happy with it because otherwise Harry won’t be happy. Long term Harry and his child will of course miss out on the family relationships they should have been free to enjoy, but if Meghan’s happy then hopefully Harry will be happy.
Please remember though, Meghan’s got form. She sent her last husband his wedding and engagement rings back in the post!
susiewoozie, I couldn't agree more.
JenniferEccles asks how long all this has been planned. Quite a while, I think. I’m also sure that the RF have been very much aware for some time that all is not well with the Sussex’s, but hoped that their six week break would somehow help them to accept a slimmed down role within the family, but not this complete departure that is now on the cards,
Seems to me that things have gone downhill since the D of E has aged and deteriorated health wise. I think his hand was firmly on the tiller in the past, and things might have got sorted in a more considered way.
I think the meeting today will be interesting to say the least. Cannot imagine Meghan will be sidelined even though she is only on the phone, I bet she will get her two penn’orth in!
The desire for the patriarchy is alive and well
Why are we fawning over this dysfunctional family and institution that should have been long gone. Why are we banging on about it, it’s headline news even though most of it is guesswork - we don’t know who said what or who wants what. It could be world war 3 or the end of the planet and it’s all he said, she said.
This might be the wrong post for my observations but I feel Megan is at the the root of all this; she knew what she was getting into, she was warned by her close friends but she went ahead with the marriage into the RF but seemingly forgot about what could be determined as fine detail. She openly and deliberately flaunted royal regulations in terms of covering her legs (always wearing tights etc) , she refused and went bare legged, never wearing black other than at a sombre occasion, she went ahead and wore black to any event she chose, always covering her shoulders, she openly wore clothes that showed her shoulders..........the list goes on and whilst these might seems trivial to some of us they are RF protocol and she deliberately "spat out her dummy" and did it "Megan's way". Sorry folks, she is nothing short of a disrespectful freeloader! She wanted the man, the title, the privilege and the image but wasn't prepared to toe the line and accept all that which the RF expected of her!

I think Diana started the trend for not wearing tights on certain royal occasions. I’m sure this was considered daring at the time, but bare legs nowadays are very common, and I think Catherine has also been bare legged sometimes. In the great scheme of things, it isn’t really a deal breaker, and although we criticise Meghan for this and that, I think her ‘no tights occasionally’ is ok really.
Spot on IMO H1954
Meghan is certainly the problem as it is in many marriages where the formerly independent woman struggles to fit into motherhood and new duties along with a husband and his relatives. It happens all the time, with Meghan press intrusion magnifies everything, the real problem it’s that it’s easy to see how she will find the cash to live but what about Harry, he has no career path.
He could become a “house husband “ to Meghan, rather like the Duke of Edinburgh and live off her income which would at least see them staying together. Or live much more separate lives with Harry doing some Royal and charity duties.
At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter, they are not going to be destitute, with what they have now they could live the good life in some remote corner of Canada, although I’d bet Meghan won’t.
I think it was her ex husband who remarked a couple of days ago “it was always Meghan’s way or the highway, and that’s all I have to say”. She’s obviously used to getting what she wants and the regimented life of the RF wasn’t to her liking and so this............
Davidhs I think the D of E was much more than a house husband!
Breaking news in The Telegraph:
‘Fears Prince Harry will ‘tell all’ if his wishes are not met’.
Blackmail. Cute isn’t he?
susiewoozie! Yet again spot on
They will get what they want , title, money, formore, security,
If not she will be on American tv telling all.
She will rule. If she goes back to acting he can be her dresser.
He has given up his family, he loved shooting, fishing , no more,
And they are not a young couple, she is pushing 40.
I feel sorry for Harry. He is, or was ( "The spare")
William is the Heir.
This cannot be good for anyone to have to be in that situation with no real useful posistion.
That's a lot of vitriol Annie aimed at someone you don't know and based on tittle-tattle.
Radio 4 is over the top this morning calling it 'Crisis talks' - it's hardly a bloody crisis! He's not in direct succession so does it really matter if he buggers off?
As I said elsewhere on GN, why does she get the blame when Harry was complaining long before they met. Why is it assumed he's going along with Meghan and not vice-versa?
I'm sure Harry could have found himself a role Resurgam123 as Princess Anne has done. He did valuable work with Invictus and in Africa, we all have to find our way in life.
These situations seem to be very much similar in very many families. When there are family "fallings out. "
It is hardly unusual that other families get into these muddles .
It’s not vitriol Riverwalk , and it is a crisis for the royal family, they keep their private lives private and I truly believe
she would tell all to get what she wants.
Everyone adapts their lives when married, give and take,
Harry has given up everything.
I hope the meeting today goes well and Harry and Meghan are able to live their life without all this horrible criticism. They are a young married couple with a young baby and deserve much more from the Press and elsewhere than they have received (here included). I find it all very sad.
