Private schooling and paying for things and providing doesn't at mean that everything was rosy in the Markle home.

It all sounds pretty dysfunctional to me, which tends to affect those bought up in those circumstances.

The family are the only ones who know the truth, everything else is speculation, hearsay , & scandalmongering

If money is involved best that it’s a gift or a loan with a clear understanding of which it is.

I always feel things are wrong somewhere if parents say we paid for this that and the other and this is how we are rewarded! I chose to have children, I help where I can when I can and I don't feel owed for it. I didn't have children as an investment, I wanted them and they made my life complete. I also feel having cats makes my life complete, I don't feel they owe me for all the cat toys, vets bills and expensive food I buy them lol x

DH and I were reminded of the sixties and seventies when a pop or film star from a working class background would suddenly find shed loads of money in their bank accounts and the first thing he/she did was buy a house for dear old mum and dad. Heart warming stuff!

Innocent times before money became the factor that drove everything from birth to divorce or death.

Anyone remember that song from the 70s, No Charge, by Tammy Wynette? Mr M would do well to listen to it and reflect.

I wonder why Meghan decided to leave her mother and live with her father when she was 11? A very strange decision; but give him his due (maybe to save Doria's feelings) Meghan's father never went into detail. Meghan and her father do appear (from video footage) to have been very close, and I felt sorry for his other children when he stated that his relationship with Meghan was the most special relationship of all. Strange (and rather unfeeling) for a parent to single out one child like that; sounds like Meghan was the golden child and I wonder if she was rather spoiled?

I was quite upset when he spoke of his special relationship, perhaps his children from his first marriage were close to their
mother, two divorces.

He seemed a lost man and deeply hurt , his comments at the end of the interview were so bitter, he knows he will never see her again or his grandson.

I've only watched a little bit of this and turned it off, it felt uncomfortable...
I think that he doesn't look very well, or sound very well
I only know that my dad would never have spoken about me in that way
It was somewhat tawdry

I didn't see any of the programme but at the time of their engagement it would have been wise and helpful of the "The Palace" to have sent someone out to him to help him through the minefield before it was made public that they were engaged.
The Royal Household know and knew how the press and media work
I personally think they let him down and fed him to the wolves.

It suited Megan and the place to have him out of the picture otherwise they would have looked after him and guided him

Felt sad for him, he has been completely left out in the cold whilst Doria parades around getting support all round. I’m pleased he’s spoken out and done this documentary he has a right to his say, and good luck to him if he’s made abit of money along the way.

I caught up with this programme last night, and felt sorry for him until he began talking about money. When he said that Meghan owes him, Harry owes him, etc etc I felt very uncomfortable. As Chewbacca says above, he should listen to that Tammy Wynette song "No Charge".

I have read somewhere that Doria couldn't cope with his older teenage children (Samantha and Thomas Jr) from his first marriage.

I thought it was very bad to single out one child as his favourite.

Sparklefizz I don't think it would have been his his older children that caised the sit because by then they would have been in their 20s.
There are several reasons been said why MM lived with her father but I hadnt heard the hippy commune one before. One after his programme was that Doria was an air hostess but my American friends say she was in a place where she couldnt have a child with her. But I respect TM for not saying anything about where Doria was at that time.

They are very good at manipulating people and playing the sympathy card.

He fully admitted he was no angel when he was younger and yes it was daft of him to be taken in by the photographer promising to improve his image , BUT did that really warrant being totally cut out of his daughter’s life?

Silly yes, naive yes, but to me her subsequent treatment of him says more about her as a person than anything else.

We saw proof on the programme that he really did have heart surgery and was very ill.

To me it’s totally unforgivable that Meghan didn’t rush to see him immediately after the wedding.

Her parents married in the temple of a sect, so perhaps she
spent time with the cult /sect

I think TM's remarks about them owing him was more to do with the fact that he was completely sidelined, from day 1. Poor man was completely out of his depth, no one had the courtesy never mind the common sense to go and see him, make him aware of the obvious press intrusion (among other things,) and how to handle it, he was left completely to his own devices as the young (?!!) couple couldn't be bothered to meet up with him, instead, shouting down the phone at him over those innocuous photos, and, despite serious illness, now have nothing to do with him and probably never will. Making him feel wanted and loved might, just might have had a more positive outcome!! For the heartache and downright cruelty of these two self centred 'people' + the insensitivity of the RF, I think they all do 'owe him' and if he can now make money out of the ongoing situation, good luck to him, why not? after all he clearly has nothing left to lose!!

I think that H and M are doing so much navel gazing that they have no idea how people around them are managing and what effect their behaviour is having on others.

Imo, the RF should have been able to prempt exactly how this dismissive behaviour could pan out and rebound onto them. A (wo)man scorned etc !! Having said that, perhaps advice was given and ignored! You couldn't make the couple behave decently, that is very true!

If Harry has all these problems, then fgs seek some help and STOP did whingeing! After all he can afford the best that money can buy, no waiting in the NHS for him!!
