I went to a talk on ‘Bees’ last night. It was fascinating. I thought it would be boring; it wasn't and I wish you could all have heard it! ?’s are amazing....
What I hadn’t realised is that if the label on honey states ‘contains produce from non EU countries’ it more than likely comes from China where they remove all the pollen and add chemicals. The speaker, Richard Rickett, a film special effects person and film maker turned Beekeeper, was so convincing, so enthusiastic and so knowledgeable, that I came away vowing from now on to only buy from local honey producers, or if unavailable, accredited honey produced without additives and to spurn the cheaper products available in the supermarkets.
Any beekeepers amongst us?
How can I stop people from 'helping' ?
I need to re-stock my garden following the destruction caused by a flood last year. Maybe another ceanothus. Great for the bees and I'd enjoy it too.
