I have just read this online and I’m very shocked. I can’t say I know much about her but watched Love Island last year. I know she’s been charged with assaulting her boyfriend but he was standing by her.

I just think it’s very sad.

icanhandthemback Sun 16-Feb-20 16:30:26

It seems that she had an emergency clinical assessment just the day before she took her own life and it was decided that she wasn’t in any immediate danger . How wrong could they have been ?

That should be investigated but if she was serious about taking her life, she might have hidden how bad things were. Obviously it is incredibly sad that anybody should get to the state she was in but I can't help wondering how long standing her DV was.
I accept my views may be jaded by the violence I have seen inflicted upon a long line of males and has still managed to get a divorce each time based on their unreasonable behaviour and violence! She was great at looking the victim even though most of the time, the men were actually defending themselves. She was small, blonde, pretty and full of BS so any judge was immediately convinced she had been wronged.
notanan2, I agree you have a point about 'likeable' people but I do think we are more inclined to damn a male abuser than a female. Both sexes (and all those in between!) should face the consequences of their actions if they are abusive.

My sentiments too Gillybob.

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:30:53

What a ridiculous comment notanan2. How do you know ‘half the population’ take anti-depressants.

whywhywhy Sun 16-Feb-20 16:32:37

I know she did wrong but she was hounded by the media and online trolls. I battle depression on a daily basis so I can understand just how low she must have got. There are times when I could cheerfully give people a smack, especially some of the blokes who have been in my life in the past. I feel so sorry for her family.

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:37:06

I used "half" as in many. Its common etc.

Was over 64million in UK 5 yrs ago and that number was on a steep upward trend, so maybe not "half" but everyone knows several people who are on them.

EllanVannin Sun 16-Feb-20 16:37:14

Greymar, if the patient has been assessed properly then in lots of cases they can work, but if/when medics get it wrong they can have adverse effects and actually have the opposite effect for what they were meant to treat.
Also if a patient stops taking their medication the illness can return with a vengeance but as I said if a patient had been properly diagnosed in the first place anti-depressants should work.

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:42:50

I don’t know anyone on anti- depressants but there was a programme on bbc one not too long ago advocating other treatments other than tablets and if your figure is correct then it’s quite shocking.

ReadyMeals Sun 16-Feb-20 16:43:22

Well whywhywhy, the whole point of the police and judicial system is to stop us "cheerfully giving people a whack" when we are annoyed with them. We're meant to leave our partners if they behave unacceptably, not wack them. Now children of course one cannot just leave. I feel sorry for today's young parents, being able to threaten a smack to mine saved my sanity ;)

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:52:01

I don’t know anyone on anti- depressants

very unlikely. You probably know several people who take them.

pinkquartz Sun 16-Feb-20 16:53:05

suziewoozie

the CPS were harsh in her.
she wasn't a danger to the public for a start.
unlike many men who are not prosecuted.
and yes mental health problems cannot be an excuse but if she had been properly assessed then who was she a danger to?
Her boyfriend did not want to press charges

Manmar2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:56:20

Notanan2. No I don’t. Arrogant aren’t you ?

notanan2 Sun 16-Feb-20 16:59:08

Not at all. I dont presume to know what medicines all of my aquaintances, friends and family are in.

It IS statistically very unlikely that anyone doesnt know anyone who takes them, given their prevelance.

JenniferEccles Sun 16-Feb-20 17:06:02

Ironically so called ‘antidepressants’ can cause suicidal thoughts in some unfortunate people.

Studies have also shown that many struggle terribly with withdrawal- like symptoms when they try to come off the things.

Sarah Vine graphically described in a newspaper article, what a dreadful reaction she had when she attempted to wean herself off the pills.

suziewoozie Sun 16-Feb-20 17:20:25

pink you do not understand what has happened here. Several of us have explained the situation several times. I’m not going to bother again because you just don’t want to know.

Anniebach Sun 16-Feb-20 17:22:51

It is not always possible to assess a person as a suicide risk ,

In the time between the assessment and the suicide who contacted her, who did she speak to, who didn’t bother to
take her phone call, if she made one.

Did she die in the night or day , had she stopped medication,
did she leave a letter

whywhywhy Sun 16-Feb-20 17:24:15

ReadyMeals you don't know me or my past and I stand by what I said. I could cheerfully give them a smack. Poor girl was unfairly hounded. So pipe down!

Sparklefizz Sun 16-Feb-20 17:31:16

A friend was staying with her and had just popped out to the shops..... and while she was gone, Caroline killed herself. She had someone there for support, it seems, but who knows what was going through her mind, although other boyfriends/fiances came forward at the time and said she had been "violent"with them too. How true that is, I don't know, but she hit the present boyfriend with a lamp while he was asleep. She was a troubled young woman, and may she be at peace now.

suziewoozie Sun 16-Feb-20 17:32:41

40 is not young

Anniebach Sun 16-Feb-20 17:43:05

It’s sad but celebrities seek attention , seek the media , the media doesn’t back off when things go wrong,

ReadyMeals Sun 16-Feb-20 17:46:01

BTW "pipe down" is a bit rude to say to someone and not a useful way to discuss a topic.

Sparklefizz, my hunch is the confirmation of the prosecution was the immediate trigger for her action. The timing of that seemed to mark the change from her posting fairly normally on social media and suddenly pulling her posts and becoming suicidal. Although obviously that came on top of an already rather unhappy situation.

Sparklefizz Sun 16-Feb-20 17:50:57

Naturally I'm sorry for the loss of anyone's life but do we really need loads of articles about her online when the UK has suffered terrible floods this weekend on top of last weekend's floods, plus it now is likely that the Corona Virus actually originated from a lab near the Wuhan Wet Food Market, where experiments were taking place on bats!!

Surely these should taken precedence.

whywhywhy Sun 16-Feb-20 17:53:08

I hope she is at peace now. Sorry ReadyMeals I didn't mean to offend you and I take it back. There is enough misery connected to this without me say that.

suziewoozie Sun 16-Feb-20 17:57:42

CF knew the date of her court appearance before Christmas and only two weeks after the date of the alleged asssult..

ReadyMeals Sun 16-Feb-20 18:00:26

I heard on one radio interview that it was only confirmed a few hours before she died. Still, there is a lot of conflicting information going around

JenniferEccles Sun 16-Feb-20 18:01:09

I completely agree Sparklefizz

I was amazed when it was the first story covered on the BBC evening news with everything else going on with floods and of course the Coronavirus.

Sad for her family, naturally but did it really warrant being headline news?
