You may not post often, but you once took the trouble to send me a very kind PM, supporting me for something I did on GN. It meant a lot to me.

I just love hearing from you and reading your posts. Elegran and Grandad1943 are always the one with calming, polite and informative posts and I wish I could post as well as they do. But practice makes perfect, so they say.

I am glad the politics have calmed down now, it was getting awful and we now seem to be in a much happier frame of mind.

paddyanne please don’t leave. Your views may not chime with mine but it’s good to hear another point of view and you are always polite to those with contrary views.

I’m not a prolific poster, maybe not even interesting because I only post if I have experienced say a medical procedure or a problem. Otherwise I mostly contribute to the fun threads such as the lovely thread on childhood books.

I am so impressed by the support offered on GN, particularly on the Good Morning thread to those incredibly brave and stoical folk such as Gillybob, Marydoll and dragonfly.

Thank you Urmstongran for the interesting, enjoyable and above all kind threads you’ve dreamed up in recent days.

I agree. Sorry to be so agreeable! I think this is a place to fairly safely have views and opinions which differ.
How do we arrive at the truth without hearing all the arguments ?

May I add my entreaties for you to stay with us paddyanne? Yes you hold strong views - Indy2, the Royal Family as examples - but I love to read your posts. GN would be bland fare if we all agreed with one another! As long as opinions are polite I not only enjoy reading about them (not just yours) but I find them challenging and informative.

* mumofmadboys* I'm glad that I'm not the only one who remembers the posts rather than the posters' names. I was beginning to feel guilty. I came onto GN with problems and received so many positive and helpful responses that I stayed (on and off). I only tend to post if I think it might be useful to others or to join in some fun. Anything more serious is usually a mistake.
Sorry to all you lovely articulate people whose names I do recognise but can't actually link to individual posts and opinions. Honestly I am better with faces than names!! Keep contributing please.

I love the goodmorning thread a lovely way to start the day. The good humour from all who post and support each other is amazing The reaction to the death of a member recently showed GN at its best. Long may it continue.

I left for a few weeks but I found that* Luckygirl* was still on my mind.She has had such a tough time and my heart went out to her in her fight for her now late husband.I so admired her determination and focus on his needs .Thats the main reason I came back ,to see how she was and how she is now coping.A lot of the posters I got on well with in the beginning have left but Gillybob has always been another who I admire for her strength .I dont know if I'll stay for long now ,I never really felt I fit in ,my opinions and views on life are very different to many if not most.It has been interesting though ,so I'll hang around for a wee while and see how it goes .

I don’t think Rufus was due to go on any trip, I rather had the impression of his being more or less housebound with carers and nurses coming in to him daily.
I may be wrong and perhaps one of his closer friends will know better.
I have skimmed through the “Good Evening” threads he started as of course his day was our night (or vice versa) and the last one I found was this

In the spirit of the OP I’d like to say that mumofmadboys always seems to me to have a gentle approach to posters that speaks to me of a kindly, thoughtful temperament.

I must pay special tribute to Marmight, who offered me a room in her house and also drove me to and from the airport when I flew to Scotland for the first ever meet up. She doesn’t post often, but I always look forward to reading what she has to say.

Kittylester - and many, many others have kept me afloat with their kind words over the years.

I have been very ill in the last six months and before that I was extremely busy at work, so I haven’t read or posted on the threads in the way I used to, which means I haven’t really connected with many of the new posters yet, but I do look forward to getting to ‘know’ you all.

My first experience of GN was when I asked for advice of people who had had a MRI. I must say I was worried and felt like cancelling it, but your supporting replies helped a lot to allay my fears. Perhaps you were being kind, like we do with women who are about to have their first baby. We say it's hard work but you'll manage it! Since then I've come on here many times with worry about my various ailments and medication and I've always found a word of encouragement. So thank you to all of you!
