With all this about meanness nowadays on social media how about a little experiment.
I’ve posted.
Can the next person up look at the post above them (about me, to start with) and try to say something nice about the one before? We do ALL have good qualities I’m certain......
It might make for an uplifting thread?
If you can’t (or don’t ‘know’ the poster above to you) leave it and wait. Come back later when you recognise a poster’s style.
Off we go. I’m waiting (in trepidation ha!)
?
Thank you everyone ?
curvygran - feeling invisible ( a bit ) ?
Please don't feel invisible.
Unfortunately although well meant this thread has made some people feel that they are ignored.
curvy I am sorry you are feeling invisible - I can see you. I love your name - are you? (curvy)
Thank you dragonfly! Curvier than I used to be, that’s for sure, but hopefully in the right places ....
Maybe part of the problem for those of us feeling 'invisible' is that all posts appear in sequence and there's no facility to respond directly under a particular post. While I'm thinking about what I'm typing, a popular thread will have many more posts added and context is lost. But I'm here!
I don't 'know' curvygran950 but I didn't want you to feel invisible
. A great name too x
There are so many to mention here, but off the top of my head
NanKate I feel she is very kind and loving person.
Same goes for Urmston and love her posts about Malaga, one of our favourite places.
Also can I mention Blinko I don't think she posts too regularly, but I have met her a few times at Birmingham meets and she is lovely!
Hello GrannyLaine I can see you - this is a great way to get to know all you 'invisibles'. May you be invisible no longer!!
Would being kind include accepting other people’s political opinions ? Eg calling remain voters just that rather than remoaners? Or labour voters just that rather than “lefties” (vice versa of course re right wing supporters). . Not automatically decrying anything that may hAve it’s origin in the USA. Etc etc
curvygran950, me an dragonfly46 are always glad to meet new members. Never feel excluded just dive in and post as you feel you wish to comment on.
The opening poster in this thread is one to take your example from as I have often "crossed swords" with her on the political threads but Urstumgran is never personal or abusive and in that a credit to the forum.
NOW, this should end the thread, who is going to say something nice about me........???
Grandad1943 I can always recognise your posts because you write so clearly and precisely. You are always respectful, kind and (as far as I know) never resort to profanity.
Thank you peeps for the nice comments
I have appreciated your posts on many threads over the years too.
It’s difficult to respond to new or new-ish posters if we haven’t come across their comments before ( or rarely) but that doesn’t mean they are ignored. The best thing is to post as much as possible on as many threads as you can, so that your voice becomes known.
Look forward to reading them all.?
Yep. As I thought. Invisible.
Hi Lucca,
Interesting name, is it from the Italian city of the same name ?
Many thanks GrannyLaine, I genuinely thought that no one would say anything complimentary about me and the thread would come to an end. I think I am viewed in some quarters as the "Black Sheep of the flock". ??
Yes ....one of my favourite places that I happened to be talking about when I joined GN. Thanks for noticing.
Grandad we have crossed swords in the past (despite your conviction to the contrary I was never a “Brexiteer”) but I respect your sincerity, your patience in explaining the many ramifications of Employment Law and Health and Safety and, dare I say it, your perseverance!
Hope Somerset wasn’t too flooded and that you were not affected?
Many thanks MawB, I love to read your posts as you can state in ten words what it takes me a whole paragraph to say.
Would very much wish to see you over on the political threads more often as we need to build up over there forum members who can state their point of view without getting bitter and personal.
Requires more persons like yourself Maw
Forgot to mention MawB we have come out OK in regard to the two storms but the seafront got somewhat of a battering.
I am in the office today without much to do at the minute due to the circumstances of what I came in to do suddenly changing, but someone has just said there is now another storm coming in this weekend.
That cannot be true surely. ??
To all the newbies and those who feel ignored, it really isn’t personal. For most of my early years on GN I hardly had a reply except a response straight away from the wonderful soop who does her best to welcome all new arrivals in the kitchen and to give her support to all.
Some people are prolific posters and give personal information about themselves which makes the rest of us feel we know them more and reply to them more because of that.
I have met many lovely people on GN so if you feel left out keep reading and posting and overtime you, like me, will find that you start getting responses from others. Don’t take it to heart.
I am not sure everyone has had a mention, so to all who have been missed, hello and welcome. Here are some
and a piece of [cake] to cheer you up?
I am Doodle, not Doodledog who is on GN too. No relation as far as I know
I know maw has appeared on this thread before but as she has posted just before me I feel I must say something nice about her. Not difficult as maw is one of the nicest people on GN with a lovely sense of humour. I would also just like to mention anniebach who has the kindest heart.
Grandad when I have been nice to you you've taken it the wrong way - is it a men are from Mars, women are from Venus scenario?
Or is it wot I wrote?
I do learn a lot from your posts.

Just to say that several years ago Gransnet members were counted as well over 8,000 (I forget the actual number), and they have increased immensely since then. If you haven't been specially mentioned on this thread, take comfort in the fact that at least 7,999 others haven't either - you are one of the majority!
Callistemon I very much enjoy your posts and feel you have always been respectful to me. Therefore I can only apologies if my posts have appeared to be harsh or disrespectful towards yourself. They were genuinely not meant to be in any way, but perhaps I do state a point in a strong manner that is easy to take in a wrong way.
"Must try to do better" as my school reports always did say on almost every subject. ?
This site only wants to be kind to posters of a leftish persuasion, I'm afraid.
I made a jokey post to you Grandad and I think it wasn't expressed very well as you seemed rather cross!!
I think that sometimes my SOH is rather obtuse.
quizqueen it takes all sorts to make a world as my mum used to say and I think that all views should be welcome; it's no good having a site full of those nodding dogs!
