Listening to the news this morning, it is well-nigh impossible to imagine the agony Grace Millane's parents must be going through at present. One wonders why it is that the perpetrator "cannot be named for legal reasons". Why not? Apparently he is 37 years old [i.e. not a minor]. He is a killer and the murderer of a young woman.

The law in NZ re suppression of the name also includes suppression of the reason for the suppression . NZ Law has 8 reasons under which suppression can be granted by the trial judge. NZ is a civilised mature society and I think it’s utterly pathetic to deliberately reveal a name that it’s CJS has ruled should be suppressed. It’s arrogant, thoughtless, unnecessary and just smacks of being nasty and gossipy. Why on Earth do we need to know? He’s in prison in NZ. You don’t have to worry a out his coming to live next door to you. Yuk

It’s usual not to name in in New Zealand. No great mystery, just a different legal system.

He’ll just change his name when he comes out anyway the monster. Hope he rots in hell.

Poor beautiful Grace, may she rest in peace.
