I am going to stock up on bread, milk and coffee.
Unless everybody stays indoors, it is going to spread.
So just carry on as usual, with much hand washing and common sense. Fingers crossed it will eventually blow over and normal serve will be resumed.
The only time l can remember anything being this much in your face, was the AIDS warnings on television. The tombstones with "Don't Die Of Ignorance" toppling over, and the leaflets through the door.
I leave it to the individual to think if it really made any difference......

Regarding your excema problem with all the hand washing, I'd recommend Collodial Silver gel which really is a fantastic remedy for all things skin.
I'm also thinking of getting a spray to use as a sore throat remedy.

I think the media coverage is fuelling public opinion when in fact there are more people dying from "ordinary"flu and diseases like cancer or suicide which has apparently 28x the deaths .
There are 3 cases in my country of over 5 million ,as long as folk follow the guidlines and travellers get checked when they come home I dont think it will get out of control.
I remember the foot and mouth situation when we didn't have any cases ..none...yet to listen to media reports you'd have thought it was rife here .
I take all reports with a large pinch of salt.It will of course suit some to make us believe we're under seige from a "chinese" bug ,I've even seen folk say its germ warfare and China should be threatened with military intervention!!

I always have a "go to stock" and have added to that. As well as more handwashing have bought 2 door mats and am going to put one inside the front door and one at the back, with Dettol or Flora on. All shoes to be removed at door!

I am really concerned about the virus,I am high risk ,I have bought some extras .Not loads .but about a week of shopping ,if it gets worse I will stay home .and have my food delivered I have 3 children who could also have problems , we are going about life normally .but if and when I would keep them home lock doors .ignore phone and have a few weeks of pj days

Just back from Sainsbury,s & no sign of anyone bulk buying or empty shelves- looked just the same as usual. Only thing I noticed was one empty shelf where they usually have the bacterial hand wash. There was an elderly couple arguing about if they should buy some or not- she was pointing out that none of what they had left was anti-bacterial & they had some proper stuff at home anyway but he was determined to buy what they had. The woman looked at me & raised her eyebrows- I quietly said- 'I NEVER bring one of those with me'- meaning a husband -& we both creased up!
Washed hands thoroughly when I got home.

I am 63 with a heart condition working in the outpatient dept of a major hospital so i wont be able to avoid crowded places and sick people along with many other older staff.

I am just going to avoid doctor’s surgeries and hospitals if I can. It bothers me the possibility of quarantine though because I am self employed and what will happen. Will we SE’s be bankrupted and starve?
My daughter doesn’t know yet but I will decamp to her house!

I am quite worried but more for my type-1 diabetic grand daughter than for me. On the upside, she lives in deepest Cornwall.
I went to a big party in London on Monday night and the tube was far less crowded than usual. Only one person was wearing a mask but I noticed hardly anyone touched the stair rail at the station.
Tonight I'm off to the Chelsea Arts club for supper - I'd thought of not going but, y'know, life goes on and I hope I (and all of you) will too.
Loo rolls though - I know some are amazed that people hoard them but I totally get it and I always have loads in the house. When I was a child we often used to run out of them and you don't forget that! I've got about 50 currently stashed - even I think that's kind-of enough for now!

I’m very frustrated by people panic buying food etc! It’s a selfish act. People who will genuinely need food etc won’t be able to buy it! What about the sick and in-firmed, they are at more risk! People need to calm down and think of others!

I’m off to Crete for two months. No cases there yet! Was going to book a ferry to Croatia for later in the year but may postpone this in case we can’t get back in the country after Crete! Not worried. Que sera sera!

We forget all the other viruses which are this time of year. I’ve Been laid low for over 2 weeks with a flu type bug - cough, aches , splitting headache, blocked airways, feeling generally rubbish. It’s still hanging about. I think I caught it from GC who has caught every bug going at nursery. I have seen a dr this week who gave me antibiotics for sinusitis as the virus has led to a treatable infection. Fortunately now feeling better but no way would I want corona virus on top of this one. Stocked up with paracetamol and tissues over the last couple of weeks, but have been working my way through them.

I have been spending the waiting time making sure my will is up to date and showing my (younger) husband how to use various household appliances and where he can find my online passwords etc. I am also trying to delay when I catch it as I think it's probably more pleasant to die in spring than winter.

vegansrock, did you get tested for corona? You've probably just had it lol. Congratulations for surviving

Well I have to report that this morning I defrosted my fridge. On that basis that its full and getting hard to shift the drawers. Now I think it may be fuller than usual because I have a couple of packets of frozen, just in case, veg. We lead such quiet lives that I dont think that self or social isolation is going to make much if any difference to us.

My high risk is age, nothing else I know of so I am carrying on as usual. A bit more conscientious about washing hands if I have been out anywhere. What's all the panic buying about, and toilet rolls. Haven't seen any of the symptoms being "toilet" related.

I'm old and asthmatic so I suppose I am high risk. I am feeling a bit worried as I dread an asthma attack. Still, not much to be done apart from constant hand washing and other sensible precautions. I can't understand why the government is making so much fuss about this bug when it didn't do the same over earlier nasty bugs. What do they know that they are not telling us?

vegansrock I am still wondering, along with another poster, whether this particular corona virus has been round for longer than we knew.

It would be interesting if some of the people who had this horrible virus that was around at Christmas have any antibodies against COVID-19 in their systems.
That could be wishful thinking.

AGAA4 please check your info about pets. One man who caught it had a kitten who started looking ill, wouldn’t eat and died. Maybe dogs are more robust. But as far as I know let’s can get it.

My life is going on as normal. What I don’t understand is why people are having to be told to wash their hands - isn’t that just daily hygiene? Also, why are people panic-buying soap - don’t they have it in their homes all the time anyway? And I’m sick of being told that mobile phones have more germs than a toilet seat - of course they do because most people don’t clean their phones daily, unlike the toilet seat.

No I wasn’t tested. The dr asked me if I’d travelled abroad recently - no - or recently been in contact with anyone who has - yes -I have met people who have travelled from Thailand and China plus who knows who you are in contact with on public transport etc. But I haven’t had contact with anyone who’s tested positive so I wasn’t considered a candidate for testing. I think our figures may be low because we aren’t doing testing of people with symptoms just those who have been abroad or have contact with those who have been to a narrow range of places who themselves have tested positive. So maybe I have had Covid 19 but I guess I’ll never know.

vegansrock I think there is much that we were not told; the Chinese doctor who subsequently died was trying to warn people about it for some time before news was officially released.
