Morning all !

I have on offer this morning , one slightly used, reasonably stable old chap ! He managed single handedly to destroy my olive oil pump dispenser and I am CROSS with him ! He didn't know how to open it , I didn't ask him to and yet...here we are ….. frozen leg of lamb in one hand and eying Grampy up across the garden and wondering if I can get him to lean over the ditch I wont even need to drag the body in !!!!

He was sorry ..and even offered me a new one. They don't make them !!! Which has not added to my good humour !

As my gran used to say - Men ! Cant live with em' ….cant kill em' !!!!

Charleygirl5 Fri 13-Mar-20 11:55:05

You may be able to get one second hand from eBay.

Carillion01 Fri 13-Mar-20 12:05:06

Dear dragonfly, come on gal!!xxx

Dear Isabella, as ever you write such lovely prose, thank you xxx

We're just off to the next physio rendezvous-vous. All quiet here so far in Brittany apart from schools closing from Monday.

Susan hope the boiler problems are going to be sorted soon. Think NannyandGrampy have got their boiler back on track. Think there's a gremlin around. We had our annual service last week and the next day the kitchen radiator had a hissy fit. Not worrying though, first thought was all of our poor Gnetters who have been flooded. It's mucky though.

soop you look so lovely. I always put up with straight hair. Would have loved yours.

Gosh Smileless, how's the choir going?

Love to and prayers for dear morethan and all the brave family. xxxxx

TOYA xx

I am truly breathless. How come you lovely lot have managed to share so much interesting news here in our kitchen? Somehow, I sense that I am well behind, and may well not catch up before teatime.

Isabelle You post is beautifully written. Were you at one time a poetess? If not, you should have been.

It is a sparkling day. Wonderful to see the sunshine at long last. I shall share with you all.

On arriving at the care home we discovered a notice asking visitors not to do so until further notice. So, we had coffee and chatted awhile before visiting Tesco. All well there. No shortages as far as we could tell.

On the way home, I took two photos to share with you. The cormorants on their special rock. Minus the gull who we believe has found a mate. The two were together with the cormorants last time we passed only then I didn't have the camera with me. Spring is in the air! A second photo of the white sheep of the family (and one that appears to be khaki).

N&G Dear man. Be gentle with him. wink

soop Fri 13-Mar-20 15:15:58

Charleyg You were referring to an oil dispenser? Not a second-hand man. grin

soop Fri 13-Mar-20 15:19:03

callgirl Said hello to dear David. I am also a fan of Mark Billingham. I recently read 'Their Little Secret'...a page turner.

soop Fri 13-Mar-20 15:22:37

I almost forgot...yes please to cake, whatever the flavour.

Lins1066 Fri 13-Mar-20 16:10:02

Izabella beautiful prose as always, your sourdough loaf will taste even more delicious because it is a joint effort.

Our TV reception has been rubbish for weeks now, so called an engineer out, a new satellite dish is required, he had one in the van, sorted.
We have been buying and preparing food for a buffet lunch tomorrow. It will be my birthday, so today is the last day for you all to sing " When I'm 64" ?
Hope your boiler problem is soon resolved Susan.
The end of your treatment is in sight dragonfly ?
Lovely photos soop, trust you are feeling better today.

soop Fri 13-Mar-20 16:51:35

Lins1066 Tomorrow we shall all sing happy bithday to you - several times over. You are still very young. Bless you. sunshine

I am logging off again until Lins birthday. All cake bakers - get baking. All the rest - get ready with the best plates and starched napkins. Yay!

TOYA smile moon

Lins1066 Fri 13-Mar-20 17:35:14

Thanks soop. There will be cake, there WILL be cake, despite no baking powder in Sainsbury's earlier ?

Carillion01 Fri 13-Mar-20 19:14:06

What a wonderful place the kitchen is. Comfort and support genuinely offered to all who need it. Real life caring for others and at the same time a lovely dollop of fun (not sure fun comes in dollops but you know what I mean)
izabella many have said it before but I repeat it, you are quite remarkable. Your wonderful sense of humour and wit keeps us all amused. So glad to have you back in the kitchen (I have washed my hands, honest)
Galen, ok I understand toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, paracetamol and even alcohol but why on earth would there be a shortage of mustard? ?
I think if we need to self isolate, we should do it in the kitchen so we can keep each other company. I will mark out a grid on the floor so we keep our distance (one person to each square) and for disinfectant purposes I will be handing out (with clean hands) a large measure of medicinal antiseptic (brandy) on the hour.

Doodle Fri 13-Mar-20 19:50:22

I will be in tomorrow for cake. Happy birthday Lins ?

Susan56 Fri 13-Mar-20 20:19:49

Stunning photos Soop. What a beautiful part of the world you live in.I admit it,I am a tad jealous!
Thank you for the boiler good wishes. After initially telling us the part would take two weeks to arrive,we have just had a phone call to say hopefully tomorrow??
Stay safe everyone,TOYA and see you all for Lins’s birthday?

chicken Fri 13-Mar-20 20:24:44

Happy birthday for tomorrow lins.

Self isolation in the kitchen sounds good Doodle. I think I'll sign up.

Smileless2012 Fri 13-Mar-20 20:51:51

Evening everyone. I've had the Friday the 13th from hell. Forgot about a meeting I was supposed to go to this morning and went food shopping instead.

Forgot to meet a lady I'd arranged to meet this afternoon about hiring one of the church halls. Ran all the way; yes ran. She was still there thank goodness. Said she'd sent Mr. S. all her details by email but when I asked him, he couldn't find them.

Went through the call log on the church mobile and after 5 failed attempts, managed to get her.

Sparklefizz an interesting selection of ingredients but doe share Gallen's disappointment; NO DIJON MUSTARD.

Callgirl it isn't difficult to keep Dylan warm, just rather expensive[ hmm].

Nannytopsy "spaghetti bogrollnaise"grin

The sour dough bread sounds lovely Izabella and I did wash my hands before coming into the kitchen, like a good girl. DO I get a gold star?

ann glad everything's looking good for your op.

That's one of my favourite sayings N&G.

Our next choir practice is Tuesday Carillion and it's looking goodsmile.

'Happy birthday' for tomorrow lins; will there be candles on the [cake].

Me too chicken; great idea Doodle let's all self isolate in the kitchen.

Can anyone enlighten me as to why Mr. S. has just done a pile of washing and drying up by hand, when we have a dish washer?

chicken Fri 13-Mar-20 21:34:39

Perhaps, Smileless, he thinks it will get his hands so clean that he won't have to bother again for a long time.

Smileless2012 Fri 13-Mar-20 21:52:26

hmm you could have a point there chicken. Maybe he thinks with such clean hands we'll let him in the kitchen.

callgirl1 Fri 13-Mar-20 21:53:48

Is this a sign of old age? This morning I had a new f/freezer delivered. I emptied the fridge part first thing, just leaving the milk in case they were late. I emptied the freezer as soon as they arrived, and they t.ook the old one away. Just after they`d gone I realised I`d left the milk in the fridge! So until my granddaughter gets in from work later, were milk-less.
Lovely photos Soop, they bring back lovely memories.
In case I`m late tomorrow, Happy Birthday Lins x

Smileless2012 Fri 13-Mar-20 22:00:15

I don't know if it's a sign of old age callgirl but it made me laugh.

MawB Fri 13-Mar-20 22:07:20

Happy Birthday for tomorrow Lins, it was mine today and unlike some people negotiated Friday 13h without mishap.
Just a nice lunch out at Brasserie Blanc with two friends and tea with another.
No cake to offer the Kitchen yet, I’m afraid - not until nice Mr Waitrose delivers it for tomorrow in time for the DDs and families here on Sunday.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 13-Mar-20 22:23:37

Friday 13th is lucky in our family.

Just got back from our local Indian Restaurant- full of over 50’s. Manager said they were overrun with takeaways for their younger customers- are us oldies stupid or resilient???

Charleygirl5 Fri 13-Mar-20 22:45:35

I received an email from Waitrose today to click and collect Tara's prescription food. It had not ben delivered there so I have to return after 12midday tomorrow.

I picked up a tube of toothpaste and two different liquid loo cleaners because all three were almost finished. There were 6 tins of tomatoes, again no loo rolls but ordinary Crisp &Dry rapeseed oil was also in very short supply.

I may ask tomorrow if I would have a better chance of picking up anything if I arrived when the store opened early in the morning. If it was WW3 the store would be closed because there would be zilch on the shelves. I despair but Tara is not starving yet.

callgirl1 Fri 13-Mar-20 23:42:05

A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY MawB, so sorry to have nearly missed it.

cornergran Sat 14-Mar-20 00:11:11

A belated very happy birthday maw and a happy birthday to lins.

Why is it when you’re really, really tired sleep is so elusive? Oh well. Looks like another on line jigsaw for me.

TOYA.

PS. n&g put that leg of lamb down! You know Grampy has many positive points. Well, there must be one or two grin. I do understand the frustration, there’s a clone here, hope you can source a new oil dispenser and keep it away from prying fingers.
