soop Mon 16-Mar-20 12:57:26

Watch out, Purplepixie, you might find a queue of happy clappy Granspals outside your door. Please give MrP a birthday hug on our behalf.

dizzyblonde And it's a huge thank you from me. flowers

Cherry You certainly have to contend with more than your fair share buggeration-wise. A good, kind, caring husband is a blessing. I know for sure that mine falls into the same category. x for MrC

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 13:12:27

dragonfly If you haven't managed to buy paracetamol and handwash by Friday, mention it when you visit the hospital. Surely you will be given what you need. flowers

anno stay warm and rest. That's a kindly order.

Charleyg There are some strange "know-alls" (or no nothin's) on the planet. Let common sense prevail.

Dec46 I suppose that we need to self "insulate" as MacS likes to put it, we shall have plenty of time for lolling in the garden with a good book and refreshments. Only, not just yet. It be chilly here in Argyll.

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 13:17:08

Campbeltown Co-op and a local delivery service have posted on FB that they are happy to deliver shopping (and offer any other assistance) to elderly persons. Phone numbers provided. That is such a kind gesture.

Namsnanny Mon 16-Mar-20 13:21:53

tanith Mon 16-Mar-20 14:35:58

What a glorious day here in London I’ve spent hours in garden cutting the grass it smells divine and trimming a very large Hebe but my green bags are full so a general sweep up and retire to the bench with a cuppa and my book. It’s so warm and quiet.
I hope everyone is staying well.

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Mar-20 15:30:49

Just a quick pop in for now as I'm trying to make up the deficit of a rapidly disappearing day! Didn't sleep til 4am, thought about getting up to start the day but it was cold and dark so I made a cuppa and took it back to bed. Next thing I knew it was 10am and I woke up to a cold cuppa beside me blush.
soop, despite being together for over 33yrs me & my WP are not married shock. If my DM's cousin was still alive she'd be appalled! She'd be classing me as a scarlet woman grin.
Hope to come back later when I've caught up with the day!

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 15:31:16

tanith Please send some of your sunshine to Kintyre. It's a grey day and none too warm hereaboots. Enjoy some peaceful time in your sunny garden.

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 15:35:40

CherryCezzy Quite! I hadn't realised what WP stood for. No matter, he remains a stalwart and precious partner. I am sending him a further (hug) because he deserves it.

tanith Mon 16-Mar-20 15:39:42

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 15:58:05

Sending you some bright ? shine from the Gower too, sorry no pic' .

dizzyblonde Mon 16-Mar-20 16:18:00

Went out for lunch in our local independent cafe today with my daughter, hand sanitiser on the counter which all adults were using religiously. There was a couple of Mums with toddlers and a dog sitting at the tables outside and as I turned away from the counter I caught sight of one of the toddlers happily licking the windows. He'll probably swerve the lurgy and have a fantastic immune system. smile

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Mar-20 16:31:32

dizzyblonde, you do such an amazing job, thank you for all you do to help all the public (and thank your work colleagues too) flowers. I have had the misfortune sad to require the brilliant service all you guys provide a few times. You and the service you provide is worth the ? and the ? combined. ❤️

Purplepixie Mon 16-Mar-20 16:43:02

Thank you soop for the birthday hug for Mr P. Just about to enter the kitchen and do his birthday tea. I think he's disappointed that his only brother seems to have forgot. We had a ride out and a drink. Not many people about thanks to this coronavirus. Have a lovely evening all and I'll leave some walnut cake for you all to share. cupcake

Susan56 Mon 16-Mar-20 17:02:24

We went shopping to try to get some calpol for little B who is unwell. The shelves were stripped bare.I said to DH for crying out loud what are we to do.A gentleman standing by us said if you can’t get any at the pharmacy,we have some at home and gave us his address, how kind, felt quite emotional.Have managed to get some thank goodness.
We are now home and the sun is shining so DH is happily working in the garden.
Cherry,DH is from Llanelli. We love the Gower and always have a drive round when we are down visiting family.
Thinking of all with worries about appointments, health and any other anxieties.Stay safe everyone????

soop Mon 16-Mar-20 18:12:03

Susan56 There is a multitude of good hearted people. They seem to outnumber the greedy gang. At least, that's what we are discovering during this very trying time.

Purplepixie I am rather partial to walnut cake. In fact, nuts of all kinds are something I find almost impossible to resist. Give me a bag of nuts and I am beside myself with glee. hmm Fattening though.

Cherry After listening to Boris, we could all do with unlimited sunshine. It will arrive. This bloody awful episode that we all have to deal with, will test us for a very long time. But...it will be resolved. We now know that our hoped for family gathering is almost certainly not going to happen. There will be another time. They say that patience is a virtue. I therefore intend being very virtuous. wink

dizzyblonde Yet again...*THANK YOU* x

No care home visit tomorrow. I shall however be joining you in our kitchen. Please take good care of yourselves.

smile moon

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Mar-20 18:13:41

Purplepixie sing Happy Birthday to Mr P from me & hand him this ?.
Susan, what a kind gent' you met. Llanelli isn't that far away, my neice 1 & nephew in law live very close to Llanelli. I love living here, it 's beautiful. Lived here almost 18yrs.

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Mar-20 18:20:46

Oh soop, it's so unfair to miss out on these wonderful occasions flowers. I missed the BJ message but just heard the ' brief' on the radio. Buggering hell my DM would say!

dizzyblonde Mon 16-Mar-20 18:20:57

At stressful times like this I am reminded of the prayer we used to say in assembly when I was about 10 years old. I have never forgotten it and it can be easily adapted to those of all faiths or none.

Grant me the strength and courage to change those things that can and should be changed,
Grant me the grace to accept those things that I cannot change,
And grant me the wisdom to know the one from the other.

I think that we are all going to have to accept what cannot be changed with as good a grace as possible.
TOYA

CherryCezzy Mon 16-Mar-20 18:52:09

We said that prayer in assembly too dizzyblonde. I'm not religious but there's truth in those words smile.

Charleygirl5 Mon 16-Mar-20 18:57:24

I spent most of the day at a London teaching hospital today. There was nobody in OPD when I arrived near 11 am. Most had been cancelled- only folk like me were there who had to be seen.

In the afternoon a stupid woman arrived- was asked if she had travelled recently, was just back from India, unwell and with a cough. She could not understand why she was sent home and told to ring 111. I felt like explaining it to her in words of one syllable but I refrained.

I was very impressed with the staff cleaning everything they used very thoroughly and one even went around offering alcohol gel to patients sitting down.

Cherry sorry but I have not given up with your particular buggeration. Times have changed, as have medicines and surgical technique. Have you considered trying again?
TOYA

Doodle Mon 16-Mar-20 19:17:20

Hello all. I think our plans have changed a bit too. Cruise cancelled, meal cancelled, anniversary family meal cancelled but what else can you do. Sit tight and hope and pray for the best I think. I managed to buy some paracetamol today which was lucky although Boots seem to be having a delivery tomorrow. I have restricted the amount of loo paper I use at each sitting blush to make sure we don’t need to buy more.
Hope all of you are ok and those with health problems are keeping themselves safe. TOYA ?

I didn't need to wrap up in the garden as it was warmer than I expected in the sunshine so very little self insulating needed today.
I actually felt better after this afternoons PM announcement as now it seems all adults are being asked to lessen social contact and not just over 70s to be socially isolated.Seems more like a united front as a Society and not oldies being outcasts .
