Hello all. We have had a pleasant afternoon digging up weeds in the garden. I did the rockery wall, as I can stand up to that, but then I remembered the garden kneeler that DD bought me for Christmas (yes everyone scoffed and made “poor old lady” jokes) so I pressed it into service for a small flower bed and it was beyond brilliant to be able to push yourself up off your knees! DH did the bits I couldn’t reach. Unfortunately, we have only scratched the surface. The rest of the garden is crying out for attention. All I need now is something to help prise me out of this chair!!

Morethan your grandchildren are lovely - you are justly proud of them and I wish with all my heart they were not going through this. I hope your daughter in law is seen by a medic soon - she certainly shouldn’t have to go to A&E. Fingers crossed it is not too bad. There’s always a lot of blood from even small head wounds?.

N&G I think you should adopt the central heating engineer?!

Smileless That must be quite a job having to cover Dylan all over with suncream. Does he mind? I had a cat with white ears and he used to run a mile as soon as he saw me approaching with the sun cream.

morethan I cannot think of the words to express how sorry I am for your family and all you are going through. You mentioned the other day that your DIL was sad because her children seemed to be a bit afraid to get close to her in her current situation. Although these two latest incidents (the bathing and the fall) have brought tears it sounds as though the children are close to their mum and I’m sure them all being together at this awful time will help in the future if not now. My heart hurts for you and the terrible sadness this illness has brought to your family. I pray for strength for all of you. ?

Like everyone else I cry at your posts but I salute your bravery, all of you, daughter in law, husbands, children, family.

We are in the same boat N&G our boiler is on the blink. Husband has sent for a spare part due to arrive Friday so fingers crossed it can be fixed. My granddaughters are 11 and just turned 8 Charleygirl5 I don’t seem to be able to keep track of their ages, time seems to fly by, either that or my memory is going. I had a phone call after 11 last night. I hate those late phone calls. I always assume something is amiss. My poor DiL had a nasty fall. A great big horrible gash on her poor head and it took my son and all three children to help her up. She wouldn’t go to hospital so they stemmed the bleeding and all slept in bed with her. Someone is supposed to be coming to check it out but hadn’t turned up when I left half an hour ago. I know their busy but it’s hard waiting it makes her feel as if she doesn’t count. She’s not in any pain so that’s good. I’ve posted a picture of three said grandchildren. Once again kind thought, prayers are all very much appreciated as well as your kind words and a place to let my feelings be aired.

I am now on first name terms with our lovely boiler engineer , so hopefully we will be all fixed shortly!

Our delivery driver made me laugh when he said they have a sign on their notice board stating ‘ Will swap 12 rolls of toilet paper for 3 bedroomed bungalow” !! He had some tales to tell about people buying whole cases of baked beans and such .

Smileless you can choose whether or not to receive substitutions , and if you don’t like them you just send them back ( they come in a separate bag so they’re easy to spot). On the plus side you only pay the price for what you ordered not the substitution so for instance our 24 toilet rolls were charged at the price of the 4 I ordered. So it can be a very good deal.

Sparklefizz I can imagine the air was a bit blue after the vets visit. Our pets do like to run rings round us don’t they?

I spent a lovely morning in the West Wing doing crafts for one of littlies up and coming birthdays , I shall be sad when they are too big for themed stuff .

Carillion zilch came through so I have also PMed you to tell you.

Smileless I do online shopping and I did buy, once only a bag of 10 kg but I realised I needed to go to the school for weight lifting because I had an awful time trying to lift and empty some of the contents into Tara's tray.

Tara, like her mother, is classed as elderly so she decided about 3 years ago that it was more comfortable to return to a warm home to use her litter tray.

I am pleased to hear that what Dylan wants Dylan gets! They are funny.

They're funny aren't they Sparklefizz. Dylan's a sphynx so is a house cat. He only goes outside on our roof terrace when it's warm and if it's sunny I have to put sun screen on him to protect his skin.

Smileless I had to change clumping cat litter back in January when Sainsbury's were out of stock for weeks. My little Phoebe has never ever used the garden in the 6 years I have had her, always coming indoors to use the tray, then going out again, so when I noticed that the litter tray was undisturbed after several days I was worried she had a blockage and took her to the vet's.

But no .... £40 later and a full vet checkup ... no internal blockage and the little minx was protesting against the different brand of litter and using the garden. Just to warn you ......

I am new to this lovely kitchen and although I haven't posted much, I've been reading your posts and trying to get to know you.

lins, hope the conjunctivitis is easing.
We are off for more physio just now. DH has been in more pain than expected so will ask how the physiotherapist thinks things are going. Charleygirl, pm'd you, would be glad of advice.

Yes, you're definitely 'stock piled' N&G. I've never done on line shopping, what happens if you don't like the substitutes. You're absolutely right, morethan and her families heartbreak certainly puts the niggles in my life into perspective.

If Tara's anything like my cat Dylan, she wont appreciate it, just see it as her right Charleygirl. The only place I can get clumping cat litter now is 'Pets at Home'. The upside is it's cheaper but the down side is it comes in a big bag and weighs a ton. I'm hoping the bag I have will last until Mr. S. can start lifting heavy objects again.

Badger are lovely aren't they but I can understand how annoying it must be to have all your hard work in the garden ruined.

Sunshine here again today. We've had lovely weather lately, well the sun does shine on the righteous doesn't it.

Had fun at choir yesterday, we're going to be singing a couple of songs from Sister Act 2 in church in a few weeks time; should be interesting!

I was only sent 1kg of rice from Morrisons- they are out of stock. Tara, on the other hand, has the most expensive litter because they are out of stock and that was all that was left. I hope she appreciates it.
I ordered a fruit loaf and it arrived so squashed it looked as though somebody had slept on it. At least everything arrived.

The sun has peeped out here- a miracle.

Well your post put into perspective all the minor worries in the world Morethan ! Thank you for reminding me that love is the most important thing. I agree with Grey that your little granddaughters will gain something for this whole experience including precious memories of their Mum .

I’m another that whilst I can understand how the wildlife damaging your hard work matters to all the gardeners I’m still enough of a city girl to not care about what they do in my garden . Yesterday we had a pheasant visitor who took exception to our metal one and there was a proper old standoff in the garden .

I went to Knit and Natter last night and met a lady who works for a local wildlife rescue centre and she has offered me 2 hedgehogs when it is time for release which , of course, I jumped at !

We had badgers in our garden in our old house, and on bright full moon nights if we were lucky, you could look out of the bedroom window and watch them cavorting round the garden , climbing on the bench and generally having a high old time.

The boiler is due to be re- fixed today so that’s a plus. On the downside my Sainsbury's delivery has the oddest substitutions EVER ! Including replacing my order for 4 toilet rolls with 24 !! So consider us stockpiled !!

Morethan I cried as I read your post. What amazing young ladies your GC are. I know of few families who could cope as you are all doing and I feel you are the mainstay. It is so cruel but as Greyduster said those girls will look back and remember the love. I am wishing you the strength to continue and sending love to you all.

Morethan I sometimes think our first response is to shield our young people from any sort of sadness when they have a resilience that we underestimate. Your granddaughters will draw strength from the time that they spend with their lovely mum, and take pride in the things they can do for her now, sad as it all is for you all. You must be very proud of them. My love to you all?.
