Lots of people are cleaning like they never have before.

The shops are peaceful.

People are not spluttering in public.

People smile and nod as a greeting (not the grubby grab).

Good to see that you're posting again GabriellaG54. I've always enjoyed your posts.
We find ourselves in a frightening situation that we can't control, one silver lining is that we'll resort to the good old British sense of humour to get us through when appropriate.
Love the beard shaving comment, just what Mr P would say

It might make people less inclined to waste perfectly good food.

I'm not telling DH about the MIG welder, Lucca, he'll be hotfooting it off to Aldi!

Lucca Fri 13-Mar-20 14:48:40

So glad Aldi wasn’t around when I was married to ex....he would have loved the aisle of weirdness

Callistemon Fri 13-Mar-20 14:49:28

A MIG welder could always come in useful!

lemongrove Fri 13-Mar-20 14:51:18

Of course, we could ignore Aldi’s offerings and blow our own trumpets.?

Callistemon Fri 13-Mar-20 14:52:03

Just had another Silver Lining moment! My hairdresser is booked to cut my hair next week and I've been wondering about having it much shorter and realise that if I do I won't be seeing many people so if it's awful it really won't matter because hardly anyone will see it.

A professor on tv is undertaking a study on seratonin (sp?) and found that people with high levels recuperate faster and are less susceptible to diseases, so a good reason not to wallow in misery.

I used to be a worrier but trained myself out of it. Life is so much better now.

Greymar Fri 13-Mar-20 17:42:04

Nobody chooses to wallow in misery, nobody. Some people through no fault of their own have lower seretonin.

Chestnut Fri 13-Mar-20 17:45:28

Not a silver lining but at least something funny. There are so many people working from home it seems.

GabriellaG54 Fri 13-Mar-20 18:14:12

Thanks Peardrop50 ? It's good to be back. I've missed you all but enjoyed the break.

Characters and stuff automatically insert on my message as I type when it recognises the
word or words in another language.
Other phones sometimes have slightly different keyboards.
Mine has a icon which you press, allowing the message to be translated into your choice of language as you type.

Online banking is 100% safe, after all it's in the bank's interest to have multiple safeguards and security in place as they would have to reimburse you. I trust online banking implicitly and you can keep an eye on your expenditure on a daily basis plus much much more.
You can even keep your store and loyalty cards on your phone so you never need to actually carry your cards.
If you're at all interested, your bank can explain and show everything in detail over a drink of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. grin

I wish I was like a neighbour near me as I imagine she said " stuff it, I'm off on holiday "-------and she has too and will totally ignore what's going on. Oh what it is to be carefree in your 70's and not bother what's on the news.

Namsnanny Fri 13-Mar-20 20:17:25

Friday 13th 11.54 ...MissAdventure flowers

Callistemon Fri 13-Mar-20 20:21:39

EllanVannin she might not be allowed back though!

Lizbethann55 Fri 13-Mar-20 20:22:39

Sussexborn what's seratonin and how do I get more?

Callistemon Fri 13-Mar-20 20:24:22

Stay safe and well, MissAdventure for your lovely DGS, your silver lining ?

Nannyme Fri 13-Mar-20 20:25:13

Yay, no football

Greymar Fri 13-Mar-20 20:34:40

innermammalinstitute.org/five-ways-boost-natural-happy-chemicals/

This is quite interesting re seretonin.

MissAdventure Fri 13-Mar-20 20:36:25

Oh thank you. smile
I've had a strange day, workwise, and come home to find I'm apparently hosting a sleepover for boys. Lots of boys.

I'm currently hiding in my bedroom, and grandson has had the "gritted teeth, hushed tone" conversation about perhaps asking first.

Lucca Fri 13-Mar-20 20:55:12

anyway this particular elderly vulnerable person is just back from okaying 36 games of mixed doubles outdoor tennis

etheltbags1 Fri 13-Mar-20 21:06:11

Saw a pic on the internet of an old Chinese man of 100 whe was walking from hospital cured. A bit of hope if it was true.

MissAdventure Fri 13-Mar-20 21:07:47

That's brilliant, if it isn't fake news. smile
