Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but with a grey sky and dry ground here in Brackley.
Yesterday, functioned as normal despite seeing numerous products no longer on the supermarket shelves.
But I carried on as normal , met and spoke to others I knew .
Today , no cycling on TV only repeats of past races.

Good morning from a now sunny Glasgow which means I can pottering about in the garden which allows me excercise, fresh air and most importantly, keep my mind busy from too much thinking of the what ifs.

Face time chats with the family this morning. The perfect tonic and DD1 offering to do our shopping or any other needs if necessary. Thank god for modern technology which allows us to stay in contact with family and GN.

Just wondering who your sister will turn to should she need help in the coming months gilly?! Whatever she said to you was no doubt through her on guilt allowing you to take the burden or giving you much needed support when you needed it. On a much happier note for you, what a sweet big girl room you have achieved for Evie. The tiny shoes caught my eye too and she is a lucky girl to have such a loving Granny?

Marydoll I am sending you my strongest positive best wishes that all goes well from here on in for you and your DD’s wedding?

Urmston. I’m sorry to hear you are caught up in the lockdown in Spain. Hoping that support from your many friends here can help you get through until it is safe to come home. Take care.

Wishing a pleasant day, if possible, to all.

Urmstongran flowers things always seem so much worse in the middle of the night.

Mapleleaf Sun 15-Mar-20 12:20:26

gillybob you GD bedroom looks lovely. You are clever. ?
I'm sorry that your sister has upset you, but try to think of your own wonderful family who love you and appreciate all you do. You are one amazing lady. ?

Urmstongran Sun 15-Mar-20 12:15:44

Just back to say I’ve got a better grip on my anxieties now. I think it was ruminating in the wee small hours that had carried over into my waking hours! I don’t speak Spanish but I do know a neighbour in the block what does so I’m back to ‘Keep calm with extra caution ‘ mode!

Thanks everyone for caring. It does help. On Mick’s thread we have such lovely virtual friends don’t we?
?

gillybob that bedroom is gorgeous for little Evie! Sorry to hear your sister has been horrid this morning. You didn’t need this. x

Hello All,
It is a wet, grey day here in Plymouth.
Son who lives with his wife and his 13th month old son in Moscow facetimed us early this morning asking how we were.
Bless him. I think skype and facetime are marvellous at times like these. Russia has told the young to look after their elderly, good idea. Sending them to their dachas.
Will probably go into the garden and look at all the Spring flowers. The primroses cover the lawn this time of year ,so beautiful.
Have been getting extra food in over the past few weeks.
Our local stores have plenty but when I went to Sainsburys the other day their shelves looked bare.
I paint watercolours so will start a project. I will have to be creative now .
We will probably in the next few days take a trip out to Dartmoor or the coast. Go for a walk and get the fresh air.
I will take each day has it comes.

Thankyou for the warm welcome Gabriella, I have been loitering with intent for a while, so glad I joined. DH is 73 but I am several years younger with a son still living at home. DH and son both work in retail. Granddaughter works in London so has to use the tube.
Luckily all healthy although DH had rare spine infection and sepsis a couple of years ago. Decorating, hope to sell when we are on the other side of this! Lovely to read all your chat, it makes me feel less lonely. Hope you all stay safe and well and sorry gillybob, should have put granddaughter!

Morning everyone from a very grey Gower. The belly pork is slow cooking and we are planning a stroll and then a nip into Sainsbury's - run out of bread.

Not a nice way to be woken up Maw, I quite often get woken up like that but it's usually me that goes bump.

Marydoll offload as much as you need to here, me completely understand. Look after that cough.

Welcome flowerlover , Doorstop and any other newbies to follow, hiya. smile

Thinking of all other GNs going through travails flowers

Be kind to yourselves everyone ❤️

Pussycat I knew what you meant! It was a favourite word of my mother in law.
Wet but quite mild here in Birmingham. The Aldi Opposite me is heaving, with people parking all over the place, including in my other parking space. Pity, because I was going to pop down to buy some of their bedding plants today. Yes, the news is sombre, and it’s easy to feel down, but we will just have to make the best of things.
Marydoll you are so upbeat despite your illnesses, I am sorry the much anticipated wedding is not going to be the one you have all planned. gilly the room looks lovely! Best wishes for all who are ill or worried at this time. All the more reason to keep posting.

Good morning all from a wet again south Wales. I read most days and just popped in to say Hello. So good to see you back Gabriella - I often wondered how you were getting on with your running as you said you were doing a marathon up north was it last November? My son often does trail runs and I watch these older people coming in at the end and quite admire them.
Hope all those with illnesses and worries have the best day they can especially Marydoll, Urmstongran and Gillybob and all others.

Good morning from a damp but not raining part of Lancashire. Things don’t look much different here, so I think we’ll go for our daily walk. We have had more than the usual number of phone calls or face time calls from family this morning, Which left us feeling really cheerful.
The grass is still too wet to mow but the forsythia bush by the back door is a glorious bank of yellow.
Stay safe everyone and have a good day.

Good morning from a wet and dismal Market Harborough.

Sending love and hugs to all who are suffering, sad or just plain fed up.

Or maybe not cos for some reason can’t seem to write dreicht!!! ??

Grandmafrench Sun 15-Mar-20 11:16:35

Morning everyone. Lovely to read that in spite of the gloom and concern, no Grans are broken by it! It must be a generational thing! Our latest in our S of France town is that bars, cafés and restaurants must close. Pharmacies, Supermarkets, Banks, Petrol Stations stay open. This will further deter (nice) groups of loiterers in the sunshine and underline the ‘keep your distance’ which is so important now. Sad but if we can all keep safe, a trivial thing really. Sorry to hear of those ‘stuck’ and worried far from home, and for those whose much-needed holiday and life plans have been trashed. Let’s make up our minds we won’t be defeated - turn our thoughts to something more positive. We can all do this. Maybe need to make Gillybobs Team Leader - as someone who can achieve small miracles every day! Love the little room, it’s so pretty. We can all imagine just what your sister’s nastiness was about....but put it aside, you can’t fix stupid and you certainly can’t make people care when they clearly don’t. So forget about it, Gilly, just concentrate on those you love and who love you. Have a positive day, all flowers

Pussycat2012 Sun 15-Mar-20 11:13:20

Oops ?‍♀️ ‘freight ‘ was meant to read freight! Must use my specs more often!!

Pussycat2012 Sun 15-Mar-20 11:10:25

Morning all from a freight looking Glasgow! Keep up the good work Marydoll, ur wedding efforts sound lovely and like Grammaretto I think silk flowers will look beautiful and can be a lovely keepsake to be treasured by the bride herself. Am planning a walk with DH round the park this afternoon even if it means huddled under a brolly and then a nice coffee in the nearby coffee shop. Any excuse for a slab of ? cake! We’ve all got to take each day as it comes and remember worrying won’t add a single hour to our lives. Have a better than u expect day everyone.??

Franzipan60 Sun 15-Mar-20 11:03:00

Good morning from a grey and eerily quiet Mijas Costa in Anduluscia Spain.
We are in state lock down from tomorrow 8am for at least 15 days.
We walked to the local food shop thus morning, busier than usual, but no panic buying, we just bought a few extras, dare I say, but there were no loo rolls to be had.
We have to just get on with it and cannot return to our home in France as they are also in a state of pandemic emergency.
I am waiting for the singing in Spanish soon ??, so we are watching a TED talk on global pandemics, on U TUBE and far more sensible than anything else we have seen or read these past few weeks.....keep washing those hands, whenever possible and ditch the masks, they are for health workers and chronically sick people who really need them. Watch the clip and you will make sense of things.

Here’s the link if you too are in lock down whether it is state led or self-imposed:

Keep safe and well

Good morning everyone. smile It is sunny here on the River. I have been keeping busy. Sorted the fabric out to work on the next part of my patchwork quilt. Also I have gone through a suitcase full of dvds.. just in case I have to stay in. I found the box set of The Good Life. Forgot I had it. Definitely one to watch...escapism...hahaha. I will clear out the cratch of my boat so that I can sit out there and sew and watch the water...can't think of anything better. The world is going mad out there. A visit to village shop tomorrow to buy coffee and wine. I have refused to stockpile as I think that is selfish. It will be one visit to village a week to buy fresh veg...and wine of course. Please stay safe everyone. Above all...do not panic....love and peace to you all. X

Hilarybee Sun 15-Mar-20 10:57:37

Morning everyone. It was my birthday yesterday and both my children and their partners came yesterday and stayed the night. Atm my daughter is playing the piano and the other three are chatting together. Have been for a walk with our dog. Lovely to have everyone here

Jens Sun 15-Mar-20 10:57:29

Good morning everyone, been up since silly o’clock, 0530! Why I ask myself. Was a bit gray and wet this morning! But it’s cleared up, lovely blue skies and sun. Just taking it easy really, I’m in the vulnerable group, over 75, asthmatic, Diabetic and coeliac!
Went shopping yesterday, all normal. I’m on the Isle of Man, lots of banter at the checkout with anyone who’s buying loo rolls, lol.
Although I live close to the beach, think I’ll just stay inside, they say the dreaded lurgi is not here yet, but, ........

Have a wonderful day everyone, stay safe, be well.

gillybob Sun 15-Mar-20 10:50:00

I’ve put some stick on safety mirrors to the left of the cot ( pinched the idea from Ikea) so she can watch herself dancing and being generally silly . She put her little shoes in front of the mirror and was delighted to see another pair exactly the same . She then brought teddies and dollies to see if it worked on them too . grin

GabriellaG54 Sun 15-Mar-20 10:49:46

Thank you Gillybob ?
I've been following your harrowing journey re your DH's and your own health and I'm absolutely stunned at your resilience and unselfish attitude when loaded with requests for childcare and shopping for your father etc...
I couldn't come close. You're a ⭐

gillybob Sun 15-Mar-20 10:44:18

My DD has been struggling to get baby milk too Susan56 . At 22 months Evie really only has a bottle for bed ( with her cuddle and story) but I can’t believe ( well actually I can) that anyone could be so selfish as to buy it for their cup of tea ! A rather expensive cup as well . Some people never cease to amaze me. angry

GabriellaG54 Sun 15-Mar-20 10:41:04

And a very warm welcome to you Doorstop ???

Doorstop Sun 15-Mar-20 10:40:48

Awe, Thankyou gillybob, your little girls bedroom is gorgeous. Other half painting the hall at the moment, I am on tea making duty!

GabriellaG54 Sun 15-Mar-20 10:38:37

Gillybob
Evie's room looks wonderful. You are one amazing woman, always doing things for other people at a massive cost to yourself in terms of time, money and your health.
I really do admire you. ???
The tiny shoes by the side of the cot look so sweet. It's hard to think my AC ever fitted into anything that size.

Urmstongran
Thinking of you and hoping you can cope with the current crisis. It's good to hear that you have food stores nearby and you and Mr U have no health issues to add to what must be an anxious situation. ???x
