We just wanted to wish a warm welcome to all new members of Gransnet. flowers

In these difficult times, whether you are self-isolating or just looking for friendly chat as a distraction from the constant bad news, having an online community available at all hours of the day and night has never been more important. Gransnet users are always ready to offer support, conversation and (virtual) company.

So please pour yourself a cuppa (or a wine) and use this thread to introduce yourself. brew And if you get stuck we have a page on getting started, which you can find here.

Also, if you're looking for an easy first thread to post on, look out for the regular Good Morning thread where users greet each other every morning.

Welcome Roobs. Just start a thread and I am sure you will receive help and advice from others. A difficult problem!

I hope you are finding your way around the different threads and finding subjects which interest you.

Hallo, new to so many digithings since lockdown (zoom, ebay selling...) and came across this while waiting in a hospital carpark (a good thing from lockdown: free hospital parking!) Nice to meet you! I have 3 lovely grandchildren but hope for more...only 1 of our 4 children has a family so far, and they waited years before finally adopting. I can't believe how powerful this grandma love is, biological or not ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Charleygirl, yes we have "met" before, over the garden fence!, hope you managed to sort out your garden waste without paying extra. Goodness knows the Council charge enough for their services, at least they should provide a decent service.

Charleygirl5 Tue 07-Jul-20 12:25:23

Welcome lollyk - that subject is rather pertinent at present as many of us have been on our own indoors for months!

lollyk Tue 07-Jul-20 11:04:10

Doing some studying on loneliness, which I sometimes find myself.
looking at ways people of my age 59years cope with it, then came across this site.
hopefully, I will get more tips here.

Charleygirl5 Tue 07-Jul-20 06:53:52

Welcome maydonoz we have "met" before! Pleased to hear you are finding your way around the system. GN as I think you have discovered, can be very friendly.

Hi all I joined last week and so far am enjoying the various posts and conversations.
We moved to a new area just two years ago to help care for GC and we like the area, quiet and rural but good bus services.

Hi new to GN. currently off work due to ill health, now been over 6 months off work as care assistant. Only 2 people from work keep in touch after nearly 4years there. Husband out at work. The situation with coronavirus making things worse. Need MRI scan, cameras to aid my recovery. I'm seeing Rhumatologist, Msk clinic all appointments are over telephone got physio phoning me this afternoon. My mobility getting worse. My husband and I went away to Blackpool overnight Saturday our 39th W/ Anniversary what a disaster, I slipped and fell over at a bus stop, high kerb how embarrassing, then bus driver didn't have change of £10 note. Was wet through with rain and fall. Trams not running. When eventually got bus told we couldn't sit together, I sat at back husband sat in middle. Everywhere we went people freaking out like we had the plague. One person in shop at time staff ordering you to stand here not there, Costa coffee takeaway only toilets not open. Asked shop owner where nearest toilets are. Told my husband going to bus station. Was directed to portable toilets 30p to go. Husband now nowhere to be seen. Phoned to let him know my whereabouts, coffee now cold, husband now needs 30p for toilets. B&b check in landlady put gun to head well took temperature I'm sure you don't need to touch head to take. By now I'm wet, cold, tired in pain and need to rest but no now taken to sink to wash our hands and given list of dos and don'ts. 3 flights of stairs no lift by now knackered in pain losing the will to live. Lol. Things didn't get much better that evening. I kid you not, didn't even get an anniversary card of hubby. Let's just say a gentle push off Blackpool pier was mentioning. Shame I didn't have the strength. DIVORCE the song comes to mind. Fed up. Gran. Don't even get me started on not seeing my beautiful granddaughters. Lockdown might as well be in prison. Xxxx

Hello Everyone, I am new here and glad to be a part of this community.

Charleygirl5 Wed 17-Jun-20 08:03:49

BibiSarah as a child I lived outside Cupar- between there and Springfield. My parents when retired bought a house in Cupar near the station.

I have a feeling you may be the only GN living in the Middle East. Europe and Australia appear to be the main places.

BibiSarah Wed 17-Jun-20 06:03:31

Sorry just to add - Im originally from just across the water from you and I still have a sister living in Cupar.

BibiSarah Wed 17-Jun-20 06:02:46

Hello Charley and thank you for the welcome. I live in the Middle East.

Charleygirl5 Tue 16-Jun-20 21:19:57

BibiSarah Tue 16-Jun-20 19:27:42

I’ve just come across this thread so in the spirit of things hello from me - I’m 62, a mum to 5 and a nana to seven. I’m originally From Scotland but I’ve not lived in the U.K. for many decades.

Charleygirl5 Mon 15-Jun-20 18:58:37

Welcome- glad you decided to give up lurking and join us lot! I am an old Fifer.

Grandmabatty Mon 15-Jun-20 18:23:45

Hi all, I thought I had posted earlier but it didn't appear. I've lurked for a while but recently joined. I live in Central Scotland so still locked down. I like reading the different stories on chat and it opens up my world a bit.

Marydoll Thu 04-Jun-20 08:06:10

Tingha, a warm welcome from me too.
I echo everything Charleygirl says.
It's good to have another male on the site. I look forward to reading your posts.
