Good morning all from an overcast old market square in Nottingham.
We came up yesterday has husband has talks with barristers to see if they can settle out of court on an accident claim that nearly claimed his leg. Work place accident 4 years ago. So i'm rattling around Nottingham waiting. Lets hope for good news as i don't think he'd cope with court.

Marydoll I hope the wedding does go ahead, even if it is nothing like the one planned. As these strange times could go on a while perhaps a huge 1st Wedding anniversary celebration party could be arranged instead and the beautiful plans can be put into action then. I know someone who, due to unforeseen circumstances, did this and it was a wonderful occasion.
Finishing off my kitchen cupboard clean today and cleaning the fridge, an exciting life I lead.
Meant to be meeting up with someone who is going through difficult times tomorrow but we might have to FaceTime instead.

Calpurnia - I'm so sorry you are facing such difficult challenges. So many gnetters are having to cope with trying situations without the usual support of friends and family.

I slept badly again last night as there so much anxiety around. I also am rationing myself to one dose of news a day and oddly I find the news on the radio less disturbing than that on the TV.

I am going to try and come up with some sort of structure or plan to follow in the next few weeks - the trouble is that at the moment I don't feel motivated to do that but I know I must. I still have moments when I cannot believe what is happening and to think how blithely unaware we all were just a few short months ago.

Good Morning albeit a late one for me. I'm just back from my shopping. Didn't want to join the crowd with panic buying recently but did have necessary items to get. Back in now on this lovely sun bright day in Fife. I am so sorry to hear all the sad news on this thread this morning, too many to deal with individually but rest assured I know there are many of you out there in a very vulnerable position. There is some good news too with new babies arriving .We have decided like many to keep ourselves to ourselves, we are not making any plans to do anything, think for us that is the right thing to do. The whole news is very disturbing at the moment. We are like everyone and going to miss our family around us but we have to be responsible adults. DD going to be working from home but goodness knows how she will manage to do that and watch 2 young children. SIL self-employed so that's another worry. Anyway I hope everyone looks after themselves, keep safe and at least we know we all have each other. Take care.

Good morning from sunny Kent. Late up as DH had very bad night worrying. Nothing I can do about that.
DH going to get his regular PSA this morning and we’re going to the supermarket to get a few bits and bobs.
Quite anxious about DS1 working inIndia, due back in May, and DD and family working inNZ due back in late April. Will they get back, air con etc. on plane if they do, and so on?
Worrying times for all - but we are the post war generation! We can crack it!

Happy to inject a more positive note this morning (grey but not actually raining yet) to say that DH’s cataract op yesterday went well and he says his vision is noticeably better, despite me attacking him with eye drops four times a day. Something to be pleased about while we work out how to live together 24 hours a day without distractions.

Thinking of all those having a really difficult time. Note to self: be more grateful!

Bright and sunny here in Teddington. Taking a hippo bag of garden waste to tip and then going to the allotment. Have decided not to go to meeting tonight. Outing planned for tomorrow is off as the venue has closed. Sorry for your worries Calpurnia, these are very trying times . Thinking of you as well Marydoll.

Good morning from a fine and dry Northampton. Yesterday was beautiful, so I had a walk out in the morning and popped into a couple of local shops and got a few necessities. I cut the front grass after lunch and then spent an hour or so in the back doing more tidying up and pruning.

DS and DD have put me into isolation now, with strict instructions not to go out (except for a walk on my own for exercise). They will get anything I need and pick up medication from the pharmacy. DS says the DGDs will be staying away to be on the safe side, so no more school runs or having them in the Easter holidays. Very sad, but the safest thing.

I have cancelled today's dental check-up and DD has insisted I cancel my next hair appointment. So I will emerge after three months looking like a scarecrow, especially as I shall eventually have to trim my fringe!

Will get the pressure cooker out and make my butternut squash soup this morning, then garden this afternoon and cut the back grass while it's nice and dry.

Thoughts with all today who have worries, especially Calpurnia.

Very grey in my part of Suffolk nannytopsy but I m hopeful it will pick up a bit I m hoping to walk to my allotment and do a couple of hours digging
I had a real wobble yesterday and made the decision to stop going to work it has been my main lifeline for 6 years it’s given me a purpose a reason to get up fun laughter and the ability to feel useful, all gone now and boy did I go down yesterday but I hope I m springing back
I m going to have a last trip to town before the weekends isolation to buy some paint so I can at least do some decorating and this evening a quiet meal (just four of us) to celebrate my grandsons birthday, today looking at the streets I expect we ll be the only ones in the restaurant and then it’s into full on loneliness for the foreseeable future it’s not the isolation but the unknown time it will last that’s so scary
My daughters in the NHS so still having to work and that’s scaring me too

Megs, how worrying for you. I wonder if there is something in the air, my three children, my DGD and myself are all having chest flare ups just now.
I hope your DH gets some relief, COPD is a horrible condition.
Remember, you have an army of grans to support you.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
DH has a telephone appointment with his Oncologist this morning so I will potter around the house.
I told relatives, last night, that I would not be attending the fun eral on Friday. Three different venues with relatives travelling from all over the country, too risky.
I have not been anywhere for two weeks but yesterday DH was in the garden and a neighbour came over to chat. I am shouting at him "6 feet". This neighbour has teenage GD staying with her every weekend and she had also just returned on the train from a week away. This lady will not stay at home she goes into town every day on the bus and visits lunch clubs and goes to church.
My sister's BIL and his wife were at their home in Majorca and were happy to sit out the lockdown but a knock on the door last night and they were escorted to the airport and put on a plane.
DD is in Belgium, she is going to work as it is just a short walk but basically she is alone in the office. She has only been in this job three weeks and is still feeling her way. Where she lives there is nothing open except a basic food shop and a pharmacie. Her DH has asthma so he needs to be careful.
My sister has had to cancel her DH's 80th birthday celebration, a brunch party in Germany, again no restaurants remaining open.
Take care everyone, at least the weather is improving.

Very sunny here in the north of Scotland so may even sit outside wrapped up for morning coffee. Lots of post winter gardening to get started and will not be so lonely as we neighbours will chat over the fences to one another. Good morning all from mid-Notts on what seems to be the start of very strange times. I was due to see the rheumatologist on Thursday but had a call yesterday saying the appointment will take place by phone which is sensible as I was worried about going to the hospital needlessly. Marydoll it's so sad yet the wedding is not going to be all you and your family had hoped and planned for but important everyone stays safe. DOH and I are due to get married at gretna green in may and unsure if this will happen now. We are a very small party of 10 and the venue contacted us yesterday saying not to worry at the moment but I feel sure this will change. Let's all try and stay strong and support each other virtually as best we can. May Tuesday be kind to us all x

Good morning from a sunny Chester. I am still in bed having a second cup of tea and watching BBC news. Nothing planned today as self isolating. I need to take Joan Bakewell's advice and plan my day otherwise I will just potter about and do absolutely nothing.

Good morning everyone (and hello newbies - lovely to have you all join us ?) from Malaga where the sun’s up. Another lovely day it seems. We sat and sunbathed on the balcony yesterday - I applied sun factor 30 it was so hot!

I’m limiting my exposure to Sky News and feeling better for it - all those ‘Breaking News’ items are anxiety-inducing!

All this is surreal isn’t it?
Life is on hold for sure.

I’m feeling more upbeat as the days go by out here in lockdown land. Day 3 of 15.

Our daughter just rang us on her way to work. She is a health care professional in Yorkshire. She was surprised we are even contemplating flying back - she said ‘air con on a plane and unnecessary travel mum - really?’ I said we will decide nearer the time.

It will be lockdown in the U.K. for us seniors anyway. We wouldn’t be visiting family (even and especially darling grandchildren). Maybe we should stay out here.

My brain hurts. I’ll put that decision on the back burner for now.

Time to eat my cereal and get a chicken casserole in the slow cooker!

Hope Tuesday is good to us all. Look after yourselves everyone.

Calpurnia, such sadness in your life.

I have just learned my neighbour over the back died last night.
In the past year, his wife has lost both parents, her sister and now her husband. How much sorrow can a person bear? ?

flowerlover, a lovely piece of good news, a new life in the midst of all this sorrow.

I have just had my lovely daughter on the phone, I'm heartbroken for her. In the last hour, we have had ten cancellations. People need to stay safe, that is what's important. Some have been banned from travelling by their employers.
I'm trying to draw up a contingency plan, once we have contacted everyone.
It all seems trivial in the light of everything that is happening in the world.

Calm a watery looking sun poking through now and again and I've got the patio door open for air and also to listen to the birdsong rather than the news.
About an hour ago a little bird was singing its heart out, don't know what it was but it was a mixture of all the different songbirds. I had the binoculars on the go spanning the trees opposite but couldn't see it.

I did plan to shoot out to Asda for a couple of little " Welsh loaves " but it's not knowing if there's any bread on the shelves and a wasted/needless journey. Other times I'd have gone anyway ! I'll go to the local bakery instead, not worth taking unnecessary chances now. It's times like this when I feel thankful to be reasonably well and able as there are many who aren't.

I'll make a start on wardrobe sorting and just bag the stuff and put it in the shed for the next collection-----that should take all of a month if done in dribs and drabs. Oh I can find plenty to do if I look.

Dear me, there's going to be an awful lot of people who'll suffer hardship, it's a huge worry for them. I'm that busy worrying about others in these predicaments I could make myself ill thinking about it, but can't help it.

Thoughts to everyone here that you remain well and take very good care. We're all in this together ! xx
