Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey skies plus wet as well here in Brackley this morning.
Today , would have been a show trip to see Tina at the Aldwych theatre but was cancelled.
So will do my usual trips to Buckingham and Bicester.
I feel better being able to get out and mix with people I have got to know .
Mick
So sorry Jan16, hope she makes a good recovery. So much to worry about. X
Good morning from a cloudy but dry Market Harborough.
I had to turn down having 2 granddaughters over this period as we're both in late 60's. I've had one chest infection after another this last winter. I feel bad and it's another day battling depression. Also my youngest son has had to come home for other reasons. I feel weighed down but there are people worse off than me.
Sending love and hugs to all who are suffering illness, sad or scared. X
Morning Everyone. My 47 year old daughter had a stroke last Friday and has been in hospital since then we no visitors due to Coronavirus. Have just heard she is coming out today but she is still having problems with her walking and eyesight. She lives with her partner who doesn’t drive not far away so I will be picking her up and chauffeuring to any physio appts etc. Feeling very apprehensive about seeing how she is
Good morning from a lovely sunny day in Glasgow. Probably chilly outside but sun streaming in the window lifts my spirits......and reminds me that, staying home means, if I get bored, windows need washed?
My new toy arrived yesterday, a Babyliss Hot Air hairdryer. I haven’t read the instructions yet, nothing unusual there? It promises to give a professional blow dry, aye right. If all else fails I will have a clean messy bun?
As schools have closed, DGD1, who is normally very calm, is stressing about her exam results. I reminded her how well she is doing at school and I’m hoping she will feel calmer as time goes on. DGD2 is quite excited and her usual laidback self.
Sad to hear your DD’s wedding won’t be going as planned Marydoll. Hoping some sort of plan is possible for their day to go ahead?
Best wishes to all, especially Dragonfly and gilly. Positive vibes for you both.
Good morning from a grey, drizzly Essex. So good to read this post and realise we are not alone in this crisis. My DD is on the front line NHS so started worrying about her now. Nandos did a free food delivery to the hospital yesterday. There really is some good out there. DGSs school closed from tomorrow and would love to have him here but DS decided too risky. Marydoll has reminded me that think I have got a hand steamer somewhere buried in the garage so might try to find it. We certainly will have sparkly crevices?
Wishing everyone the best we can do xxxx
Massive hugs and warm wishes to everyone struggling today. Maybe it only helps a little to know we’re all in this together - but we care about each other and that’s everything. To all those trying to do the impossible, please be kinder to yourselves - we’re quite fragile beings not robots ( gillybobs dragonfly marydoll and everyone else over the page) determined to do it all. PLEASE think of the ? ? ? ? parties we’re going to have when this horror has passed! Wow! And we’ll need to have our health and spirit intact for that, so Stay Safe GNetters. Wishing you all sunbeams when you need them and no giving up or giving in. ?
A late good morning from a very damp corner of Somerset. Horrid, drizzly rain that I always think makes people wetter. Mr C is again wielding a paint brush, I suspect he will still be painting when the virus has long departed. I'm starting to realise how hard it will be not to see family especially our Littlest. So a sad morning for me. I'll pick up, decided to do some chatty emails which will force me to be more cheerful. I'm so sorry about your daughter's wedding marydoll, totally understand your frustration and worry gilly, rest today cherry, stay safe dragonfly. A hug to all who need one and a wish that Thursday is as kind as it can be to us all.
Good morning Michael, Annie, and all.
It is raining here, so I am glad I got my washing out and dried yesterday. Oh the excitement, I shall have some ironing to do, and maybe even iron the things that don't usually get done.
Also did some weeding in the back garden. It was beautiful outside, as the air was soft and warm. But I did get tired.
DH has to wait for a Dr's phone call today, at some time!
Nothing else planned, we are just taking each day as it comes. Perhaps I will show DH how the floor steam cleaner works, then he can tell me he doesn't know .
I will set Rover off again upstairs, and watch him to see if he is doing a good job.
My book I am reading, is not very good, and normally I would just discard it and start another, but not now. It's a bit like a poor version of a Dick Francis novel.
Marydoll you reminded me that my steam cleaner can be used as a handheld one. So the oven may get a birthday later.
To to all those who are ill or having problems, forgive me for not naming them all, but I send love and best wishes.
Have a good day one and all, and keep safe.
Mick that applies to you on your travels.
Hello from grey Costa Blanca. Even the sun has deserted us! Had a sleepless night worrying about everything and everybody but who doesn't have worries just now? Marydoll you don't have time to be ill, you're so busy running around and playing with dangerous appliances?. Admire your spirit. GN's are an amazing source of support and humour. My hugs (((. ))) as usual.
for those who need cheering up. Have the best day you can.
Good morning from the NE coast where I am sitting at the road side of my DGS’s primary school. I have just attempted a school run for DGS who was told to come in today. I drove from mine across into the next town, picked him up then drove back across into another town only to be met by someone at the gate saying that they had decided to close today. Why the hell did they tell them to come in today ? Well cheers for that . My DGD’s secondary school is closed until further notice . My older DGD said that they were told it might be September before they reopen.
I’m now heading off to “that place” with DGS in tow. Probably to just give a quick tidy of papers and just pull the shutters down. Can’t see the point in me sitting there . I am so frightened for what is to come.
Might attempt another visit to a shop for the oldies in my dads close. I feel so sorry for them . Even their little day centre where they could get a hot meal everyday has closed. Shame on this town .
Thinking of our dear dragonfly I remember it is supposed to be her last chemo tomorrow and hoping beyond hope that it goes ahead.
Thinking of all of those feeling frightened, poorly or sad and wishing and praying for some
at the end of this dark tunnel.
Love to all
Gillybob xx
Morning from a wet and miserable Hertfordshire. Been reading everyone’s stories and my heart goes out to you all. You are all so brave, unfortunately I have lost my motivation and it’s taking me ages to do a simple job.
Added to all the nastiness going on out there, supermarket near my daughters had to be closed due to fighting in the aisles. She went to another and when she was in the queue to pay she was told by another customer as she was young she should not be shopping. She is 44 and has health problems and she was only buying a basic weeks shopping as her daughter is coming home from London today to care for her mum before the lockdown.
Sad isn’t it?
Thinking of you all. X
??
Sorry...Beechnut not Bee hunt??
Bee hunt, gave me a smile.
Kittylester, many thanks for that interesting link. I will definitely be enjoying some virtual visits later.
Can I be your new best friend Megs36 ????
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. As Maple says, brighter for South Yorks, but the wind is coming from the wrong direction! We are planning a little stroll today in what we know will be a ‘people wilderness’.
Pitt I wish I was going fishing too; I envy your DH. Wish him ‘tight lines’ from me!
My DD has just sent a link to the National Trust to say that all their parks and gardens will be open for free throughout the crisis for people to take exercise and fresh air. (Shops and food outlets will not be available though). Good for them?!
Have the best day you can, folks, and stay safe.
Good Morning from an overcast South Costa Blanca. Today is Father's Day and a national holiday. We have not been out of the house since Saturday, tomorrow one of us will have to go shopping.
One of my son's who works in London is showing the first signs of the virus. There is nothing I can do, I spoke to him yesterday and he was very positive. He is obviously self isolating and working from home.
There are so many people on here with health issues and dilemmas. I wish you all the strength to come through this. Please if possible self isolate you will survive without cuddling a loved one. But they might not if you do.
PS Won £5 on the lottery yesterday, bet you are all jealous??
Good morning Mick and all GM posters, old and new.
Lovely sunny morning in Lanarkshire, I might potter about in the garden later.
Marydoll, your daughter's wedding will be special and filled with love, you can plan the most amazing party in better times.
Your steamer story reminded me that I have one, still boxed, in the cupboard under the stairs, must look it out and make myself read the instructions!
Love and prayers to all with anxiety and/or health issues. Take care out there. Mick, wear gloves!
Thanks for good wishes and good morning , husband in hospital all night ‘doing tests’,can’t come home, no visitors.
Looking for his phone charger ....in safe place, can’t find it.
Hope you got ‘the dress’ OK Marydoll and my wishes to everyone else.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all from a thankfully dry Cheshire. May do some gardening if the weather stays good.
Had to laugh at my son's comment to me on Monday, Me "well this coronavirus situation is getting a bit scary now isn't?" His reply "it certainly is, they might shut the schools, how scary is that, looking after two kids 24/7, doesn't bare thinking about!" I have a sneaky suspicion that he may ask if one of them can come and live with us, wouldn't put it past him!!!
Marydoll my niece got married abroad; she had a lovely wedding reception (sit down meal, speeches, first dance etc) when she returned for all those couldn't travel - she wore her wedding dress and put up a screen showing a beautiful video and photographs of their actual wedding. It felt like the real thing, and was lovely. Maybe your DD could do something similar?
Thinking of all those with health and other problems - good luck for tomorrow Dragonfly hope all goes well. Take care everyone.
Right, I've caught up - possibly.
My bit of North Leicestershire is a little cloudy but dry.
Yesterday was quite eventful. Youngest granddaughter (the fabulous Persie) got sent home yesterday as she was coughing. That meant her brother had to come home along with DD's partner. Dd's partner works at a school and thought he would be able to work from home after the closures. No chance, the IT dept are having to work from school as support for the children who are learning at home!
We had a video chat with them yesterday and there dud not seem to be an awful lot wrong with Dgd.
We had some really sad news too. DH's younger brother, who lives in South Africa, has been diagnosed with dementia and is having investigations for prostate cancer.
We also have a funeral next week and are in a dilemma about attending it seems awful not to mark the passing of a lovely neighbour.
Sending loving vibes to everyone.
Morning all from a grey Staffs. Can’t believe folks are still going out on unnecessary journeys-sadly including the funeral of a friend Mumofmadboys!
Told DH yesterday we need to be structured about our days now. As he is a retired teacher, I found a school bell on t’internet which I shall ring every 40 minutes to change activity. ?
Bluesaphhire-have you thought of putting one of DH’s shirts round a cushion so you can give it a cuddle?
