Good Morning Friday
(126 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today, will do a basic shop this morning for those essential needs .
Go to the bank.
My planned mystery one nighter for next week , as others have withdrawn due to the virus , its been redone for September .
As to virus did my usual cafe stops in Bicester and Buckingham numbers down and with the later concerns whether or how many hours it will remain open .
Sainsburys in Bicester , although I went into the Argos section for an item I had ordered online and paid on arrival , the food section was nearly all shelves empty .
I saw some people from Villages near Bicester who I know ,and they have a once a week mini bus ,and was et down as choice was near zero.
Also the PM and his daily talk, is maybe causing the panic , but if you can get out do so even if its for an hour away just feel more relaxed when you return.
Mick
So sad for you BlueSapphire sorting through your late husband’s clothes. As you said yesterday, do keep a couple of what we’re his favourite shirts to comfort you.
?
gillybob the day you feared has pretty much happened. What transpires now is in the lap of the gods. Your little family has been dealt some slings and arrows for sure. I can only imagine your heartache right now dear lady. All I can send is a virtual hug. It’s pretty feeble but heartfelt nonetheless.
❤️
GrannySomerset I’ve p.m’d you. x
Happy anniversary Gilly. I'm sorry it's not how you would have wanted it to be.
Your DH is a very lucky man, having you as his wife!
Just bumping the Friday thread by saying I forgot today is mine and DH’s wedding anniversary. We are having a quiet night in for a change

Good morning all from a grey Northampton.
Will be putting old clothes on this morning as I am planning to defrost the kitchen freezer, and clean the oven, my two most hated jobs.
Sainsburys delivered yesterday afternoon - the driver bagged everything up and left it outside the back door. A few things missing, which DD has been able to get (except the loo rolls of course!) and she will pop round this afternoon after her riding lesson and put them in the front porch for me so that she doesn't have to come in.
Put another two bags of late DH's clothes out yesterday; it's been two years now and can't bear to do it but it has to be done. Still have a lot of his stuff left.
So sad and distressing for your family Marydoll about your DD's wedding. Things will turn out ok in the end, I'm sure.
Kind thoughts to all and hope we can make the best of things.
Good morning,
It's a bright ,sunny morning but chilly, as greyduster says.
So sorry to hear that your DD wedding has been cancelled, marydoll. So very disappointing for you all.
May try to take a walk around the block today - there's hardly anyone out and about. If not, it's a walk around the garden which will take all of 5 minutes, it's so small! (Could do laps round it, I suppose ??). Other than that, the bedding needs to be changed and a meal prepared in the slow cooker. I somehow manage to fill the days but I think we have testing times ahead.
My very best wishes to you, dragonfly you must be relieved that the sessions are now finished.
gillybob ?.
To everyone I send my best wishes. Take care.
Good Morning All x
A beautiful bright and sunny morning, chilly but more uplifting than a grey day as things are bad enough without the weather joining in.
Brother rang me last night and I think he'd been on the " Famous Grouse " because when the phone rang and I answered he told me to wait a minute while he uses the landline instead of his mobile. I put the phone back and waited until he rang again. Okay, he rang again---still on his mobile so I returned my phone back in its place and third time lucky he was on his landline. Mr Magoo
Brother and his partner were saying how kind their neighbours were as they'd received various notes through the letter-box offering whatever help was needed. They live in a cul-de-sac so it must be a close-knit one. Lucky them !
The place looks as though a bomb's hit it----and there's only me ? Gee whiz I'll have to get stuck in soon after my crumpets of course.
Marydoll I felt your pain x .So sad that things can't go ahead as planned
Urmstongran such a kind and thoughtful person x.
I hope everyone's doing alright and Dragonfly you can breathe easy now and take things leisurely. Thinking of Gillybob too during this challenging time .xx.
Just thanked the binmen, there's talk of them going on strike here----that's all we want.
Stay safe and well everyone, we'll get by and overcome this.x
Good morning all GM posters, old and new.
Cold and frosty, but sunny, in Lanarkshire.
Marydoll, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter's wedding. It is so sad. What a disappointment after all your lovely plans. Try to conserve your strength now, rest as much as possible.
Urmstongran, how kind of you to look out for your neighbour. I'm sure she appreciated the curry! Don't know if you saw my suggestion for you to pass the time in Spanish lockdown...that sounds like an old song ,
There is a Gran in Spanish lockdown.....
I remembered that you had recommended the Neapolitan novels some time ago. I haven't read the books yet but I really enjoyed watching My Brilliant Friend last year. If you haven't seen it, Season One is still on Sky Atlantic.
I am so very sad for the bereaved who cannot have a church funeral for their loved ones.
I went to Mass (last public one) and General Absolution yesterday. Very moving.
I lit candles and prayed for all with anxieties/health issues who would find that acceptable, I don't wish to cause any offence.
Mass from a local church will be live online from today.
Take care out there/ in there.
Good morning from a grey Colchester.
I am sad to read about everybody's worries and b*****ations.
I am walking into town to sit in the charity shop that is still opening as they have sent a replacement manager and she will be on her own with few, if any, customers. I don't know why they don't close. We have gloves and sanitisers so I'll probably be cleaning.
So we’re back in solitary Suffolk. Lovely to be here with beaches and woods to walk in. DH has been rehearsing for this for years as he is quite unsociable and doesn’t need people (only me so he says) ?. The little pooch is in heaven as she’s getting more walks and runs. ?. She is due for the groomers next week and is well overdue, so I hope it stays open. Your allotment sounds ideal, Bluebell - a bit if excercise and fresh air will do us all good. Sorry for those with troubles and upsets. Boris will get us through this I’m sure. ?
DH insisted on being up and about soon after 7.00 am despite the day being a blank canvas, so feel as though I have done day’s work already, having added drops for the eyes to everything else. He hates the drops and makes a huge fuss but I have learned over the years that he only makes a to do about small things and is stoic about big ones. His mother was just the same.
Waiting for various deliveries, including a new light weight vacuum cleaner. If my wonderful help can’t come I will have to do it myself and can’t carry the Miele upstairs. And if she can come, she needn’t lug the old vac upstairs either.
Thinking of all our sufferers especially Marydoll and her disappointed family, Gillybob and her numerous anxieties, Dragonfly and all who are unwell, worried or unhappy.
Good morning everyone from a dull Essex by the sea.
DH has gone off to the butcher and local supermarket, I told him not to get into a fight with anyone !!!!!
He rarely ever goes shopping so I wait with bated breath to see how it's gone. I think he's gone because I'm more at risk than he is. Watch this space.
Marydoll I'm so sorry to hear about the wedding,
for you and your daughter.
Have as good a day as you can. Best wishes to all and stay safe. X
Good Morning from yet another sunny day in Fife. I am feeling very low this morning as I found out yesterday that someone I have known for many years although not seen her for a few died on Monday. She was 68. Kept going through everything in my mind through the night we had done together with our DC but then our paths went different ways. It is so sad. This whole situation we are all facing is very difficult esp for those of you who are sick, with ailments and other troubles. It is truly a very difficult time. Marydoll so, so sad about your DD wedding, you all must be so disappointed. Trying to keep ourselves busy throughout the day and at least the weather is allowing us to get out for walks. Enjoyed our picnic lunch yesterday down at the seaside. Dragonfly, good to hear about your chemo, well done. Like everyone else on this thread I am hoping you are all keeping yourselves, safe and hopefully busy too. It's only just begun.
Good morning from sunny Gower.
Husband on an early fresh fruit and veg run. Good luck with that.
Still buggering as Mr Churchill said.
Good Morning Mick and everyone. It is a dry and bright start on the S Welsh coast. My very best wishes are sent to dragonfly now your chemo has ended, onward and upward ?
You are a good neighbour Urmston, enjoy your chicken.
I'm still so sorry for Marydoll and her daughter, also everyone else with upset and enforced separations.
We will go for a walk whilst we still can, probably down the beach.
Virtual hugs for all who need them which I dare say is most of us.
The sun is shining this morning so even though I live in a flat with no garden I can open the windows wide for some fresh air! I'm nearly at the end of my first week of self isolation and I'm learning to take it one day at a time.
COVID 19 support groups are now springing up all over the place and my local one has put me in touch with a lady who lives just around the corner from me. It's so good to know that there are people willing and happy to help.
Good morning from Lancashire where the weather is sunny. I have a staying at home routine now. OH insists on going to work, he is not 70 but has diabetes, I'm at a loss.
Daughter's birthday today, we will face time.
Best Wishes everyone.
Good Morning Mick and everyone. There has been a case of Coronavirus at my grandson's small boarding school and we had him to stay Wednesday night. We are now self isolating, mind you we were more or less doing that before.
I am wondering why you are still in Spain Urmstongran. I understood that the Spanish government had directed all non residents to leave.
I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
Good morning everyone . Granddaughter after being a bit off colour, now has cough and temp so all our family is beginning self isolation today. Me, other granddaughter, two daughters and SIL as we’ve all been in contact with her. It is the last day in for their school and they are both sad because they are year 6 so all their lovely last term stuff has been cancelled and they probably won’t be there again. Not as bad as the exam students I know but still sad for them
Thank goodness I have my lovely cat for company and I had a food delivery yesterday, I know it’s incredibly shallow but I’m sad I’ll miss my hairdresser appt today that Id really been looking forward to.
I hope you all keep well and all this lasts less than they are predicting
Good morning everybody from cloudy Suffolk coast.
Local pub has told us we can put groceries orders into them and their wholesaler will supply as they have loads food. What a kind gesture saves us vulnerable oldies queuing only to find shops empty. Toilet paper manufactures will go bust because when this is over they won’t sell any more till 2079.haha.
Don’t be reckless and go out where you might meet others. Chances are you will be ok but you might give it to somebody else and then they will pass it on to others as well. It’s selfish to be hung ho and carry on as normal. We all have to protect each other. We all want to support local businesses, pubs, cafes, restaurants etc. But we have to protect the others among us who are providing front line assistance. You may have virus without knowing it, how would you feel if you gave virus to a daddy or mummy who later died.
Take care of each other. I am going to dress in my best clothes today as if I am going somewhere nice. Got to keep from slobbing out.
Have a good day everybody, our wings have been clipped but feathers grow back. Live to fight another day.
Good Morning from the NE coast .
Today is definitely not the day for my little Friday Girl .
DD in tears last night as she was told not to come into work this weekend . She is very worried about paying the bills . DDiL has been sent home ( laid off) from her job in industry , DS expects the same today .
I decided to send the 3 lads ( still at work) home as there is no point in them being there and pulled down the shutters . Me and my 10 year old GS tidied up a bit and I have set the Answer machine with my mobile. I will pop in and out every few days to check things . Worried about security as it’s not in the nicest of areas and once the factories start closing there will be break ins I can almost guarantee . It looks like my sister will be the only person in our whole family with a job next week .
Shelves in Morrisons almost bare yesterday no milk, butter, eggs .....well anything much really . The vultures had all but stripped the place. Will have another go today
I’m so sorry that your DD’s wedding plans are shattered Marydoll I really am .
Glad your chemo has finally finished dragonfly do stay safe and well ( not easy I know) .
Thinking of all my Gransnet friends in these troubled times .
Love Gillybob xx
Morning Mick, morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset. May take a trip to my parents grave, take away the plant I left for Christmas and replace with silk flowers. Silly maybe but it will worry me if I can’t do it in the following weeks. Otherwise a walk and some general faffing thank goodness no shopping needed. I’m so sorry marydoll your daughter must be devastated and you all so upset. Take care everyone, please be sensible especially those with pre existing health conditions. Let’s hope Friday is gentle with us all.
Good morning all , lovely morning here ,
had a sad text from GD , with her school closed from Monday she thinks this is her last day at Primary
Good morning from a rather dull Birmingham. I’m in sort of isolation, but will go for a walk in the park and to post some letters today. Later, I am going to spend the evening with my partner, and then I will go into semi- isolation for two weeks. I hope to still be able to walk in the park, using the stairs rather than the lift in my apartment building. Strange times. However, I too get some comfort from the straightforward science information delivered in measured tones by Dr Chris Whitty and Sir Patrick Vallance.
My resolution today is to stop obsessively reading the rolling coverage of the virus!
I’m sorry marydoll that your daughter’s long- anticipated wedding celebration will not go ahead yet. Micheal, I think, hard as it seems, that you should stop using the buses for a few weeks. It’s up to all of us to be as healthy and as safe as possible to stop the spread of this virus.
I hope everyone has the best day possible.
Good morning Mick and the GM team.
We didn’t watch or listen to the news yesterday. My partner checked on the BBC website but I couldn’t bear to hear any more about C-19.
I have to ring our GP this morning over a mix up with my meds!
We’re having cauliflower cheese for supper and spending the day doing housework and making the arrangements for working at home. We’ve had lots of phone calls with the family but no visits, as I am in a high risk group.
Marydoll, so sorry about the wedding.
Dragonfly how lovely to be at the end of your chemo.
Gillybob and Megs sending you good thoughts.
Best wishes to all in Sick Bay, or with loved ones in Sick Bay.
Have the best day you can ?? (double flowers today)
