Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today, will do a basic shop this morning for those essential needs .
Go to the bank.
My planned mystery one nighter for next week , as others have withdrawn due to the virus , its been redone for September .
As to virus did my usual cafe stops in Bicester and Buckingham numbers down and with the later concerns whether or how many hours it will remain open .
Sainsburys in Bicester , although I went into the Argos section for an item I had ordered online and paid on arrival , the food section was nearly all shelves empty .
I saw some people from Villages near Bicester who I know ,and they have a once a week mini bus ,and was et down as choice was near zero.
Also the PM and his daily talk, is maybe causing the panic , but if you can get out do so even if its for an hour away just feel more relaxed when you return.

Good Morning Friday
(125 Posts)Good morning from a grey Kent.
Yep, Mick shelves are empty. Was talking to a friend whose son has a butcher’s shop. They can barely keep up with the demand for mince, eggs and.... their homemade brownies! Madness and selfishness.
Everything is cancelled here, but we still go out for the paper and for a longish walk.
Must keep well and exercised.
Keep smiling and be happy.
Good morning Mick,
Hope you are ok. Dry day here in Herts.
Waiting for home delivery.
Wish this was all over and done with, it’s becoming a nightmare!
Morning Mick and all to follow from a dry but dark north Wales where the dawn chorus has already started- it’s lovely even though too early!
Need to collect tablets for DH today which were unavailable on Monday so will pick up some fresh fruit and veg, milk and bread then hunker down for the weekend!
My ‘umble ‘ome has never been so clean and tidy (shame no one calls to see it) and with the lovely weather promised for the next week, the garden will be neat as well so it’s not all bad!
Stay safe everyone x
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Looks like a lovely morning out there. Waiting for DD and DGS to wake up. They are staying over for a week. I love my early morning walks with the pouch and DGS in his buggy.
Working from home again today. My DD announced yesterday that the 400L of the compost I have bought for my new raised beds and wild flower garden is a waste of time as they need non nutrient soil to grow!!!
Well let’s see how we go as it’s mostly done now? I love gardening but I know nothing about what I am doing it is always trial and error. More error I might add!!
I hope you are all staying safe and virus free. Take care when out and about Mick although I am sure you are looking after yourself and others.?
I think this is the strangest time I have ever experienced, I am a real control freak and this ‘taking each day as it comes’ lark is unsettling.
*pooch not pouch!
Good morning Michael and all GNs. Promises to be a bright day in South Yorkshire but it’s bloomin’ cold at the moment. Frost on the car. Mick you are right; it is important to get out of the house for a bit of exercise and fresh air. Son in law is shopping for us but I am trying not to overburden him. I have asked him for some fresh fruit and veg if there is any ?and a bottle of tonic water for my gin! Well you have to get your priorities right! Have a happy day and stay safe, folks!
Good morning all.
Up early to go to our local butchers who open at 5.30 am ! as DD rang last night to say they have mince and chicken. Then on to Asda to see what we can get.
Keep safe everyone.
Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have white cloud and it’s a bit chilly to be honest. Rain is forecast from the weekend and apparently set to last for five days.
☔️ ?
Mind you, as it’s only Day 6 here out the 15 day lockdown it won’t matter.
Actually Mick I found last night’s address by Boris to be the only chink of light in a very dark tunnel. I felt quite uplifted after watching him and listening to his reassuring experts.
I’m doing a chicken curry in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. During this lockdown whenever I use it (every 3rd day it’s good to have structure in your life in these uncertain times!) I plate up a dinner for our 84y old neighbour - she lives next door but two - I hand it over at the door and immediately step 10 feet away!
Hope Friday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone. x
Good morning Mick, and everyone. It was glorious dawn in Cheshire, frosty rooftops so it's a bit chill out there, but a cloudless sky. The blackbird is singing and next door's overgrown jasmine/Virginia creeper entanglement is alive with blue tits and the robins are in there too. I see the flash of red when they leave on sorties. All is well in the bird kingdom hereabouts.
This is the end of my first week of isolation except for walking in the woods, keeping a good distance from my two neighbours. I realise I'm very lucky to have it a few steps away. I stayed up too long watching 'Anne with an 'e'' on Netflix and feel a bit groggy this morning. Won't do that again.
Sending warm wishes to all. Dragonfly how wonderful for you to be done with the treatment. Gillybob I think you're amazing. Marydoll whatever the ultimate decision over the wedding, you've done your utmost to make it happen. Your health is a priority so take good care of yourself. Whatever happens friends, we are here to wish each other well each morning and long may it continue.
to all.
Good morning from a dry Cheshire. Found out yesterday after a call to the doctors, that my husband is classed as vulnerable as he had a heart condition many years ago, so although we are only early 60s and fit and active, we will have to self isolate. We were hoping to be able to help look after DGC now that schools and nurseries are to shut, but obviously that is out of the question - so sad, can't imagine not seeing them for weeks, but it is for the best. My husband is to work from home, so he won't be getting too bored, and when he's done with that, I have loads of jobs for him! Hmm, wonder if any will get done?
Hope all you other self isolators are managing, it's going to be a long haul, thank God for the internet, books and the good old TV. We also have the dog to take out each day, so will get some fresh air and keep fit doing that. Take care everyone.
Goodmorning Mick and all x
Mick don't forget to keep your distance from others when you are out and about, we need you on here!
The birds are singing, the sky is not blue but a bright grey so maybe be blue soon?
Might clear out a cupboard or two today
This will be the first Friday since Mr.GG and I have been together that we will not be going out for dinner (except for childbirth and bugs). I know it is shallow but it's what we do and it has upset me more than I thought it would.
Keep safe and well folks.
Good Morning everyone from a bright Severnside.
Off out in a while to shop. No idea what I will come home with , if anything.
Hope you all have the best day possible and do take care ?
Good morning everyone from a lovely bright cold morning in Inverness
Nothing much to report really just the usual pottering in the garden and wondering what to do next ...
I’m getting lots of Whats App contacts from my children to check we’re ok and we’re arranging Skype calls with the little ones from next week
How kind of you Urmstongran to look after your elderly neighbour
Take care everyone
Good morning all from a sunny, but cold Glasgow, it's -4°
After managed to get DD's wedding dress yesterday, I'm heartbroken this morning, as DD's wedding looks as if it is cancelled. She got a brief message last night from the venue, saying it looks likely the the venue will be closing this weekend. The diectors promised to phone her back, but haven't done so. They have treated her in an appalling manner.
I feel so helpless, as words are not going to make her feel better.
She won't hug me, in case she is carrying the virus, as she and future SIL are still at work. Their company has been slow to respond to the crisis.
We had a facetime from DGD yesterday, she wanted to know why papa hadn't come to pick her up at nursery to come to our house. My DIL has cut her days to cover childcare and my son will work from home.
What a terrible situation the world is in.
Mick, you must stay safe. I'm sure you have mentioned before you have medical conditions, please be sensible and think of not only of your own health, but of others around you. It's very difficult, but everyone needs to work together to defeat this. We do not want anything to happen to you.
My friend's son is being buried today and thank God the sun is shining for them.
What a miserable post from me this morning!
No more!
I have had a kind few PM's from posters, I don't usually interact with, I just want to say, your kindness has meant so much to me. ?
Dragonfly, I was so delighted to see your chemo has finished, now you need to build up your strength and enjoy life.
To those struugling to support an ill partner, particulary Gillybobs and Megs. Take care of yourselves.
Good morning mick and all on here looks a bit grey but dry and I hope to get to the allotment and do some more digging It’s a nice and solitary activity Even if anyone else is there there’s a lot of space between you but there hasn’t been anyone there these last few times I ve been
pantglas I don’t want to be a doom and gloom monger but you ll be very lucky if you can get milk bread fruit and veg there is none to be had in the shops around here
I think it’s important we get out ....but i m surprised at coffee stops I thought they had all been curbed for now they have here and most of the coffee shops and small cafe types are offering food drop offs instead
Have as good a day as possible everyone
Good morning from the Shropshire borders.Sun is shining so a day in the garden I think.
Stay safe everyone.
Good Morning from a dull Black Country. So glad to be home after a few days on lockdown in Lanzarote.
We are isolating ourselves now, so day two! I think the house and garden will be getting extra attention.
Worried about Mum. She is 90 and has self isolated for almost two weeks now. All I can do is call her every day. My DD lives 5 miles from her and she is contacting her daily to see if she needs anything. DD is a teacher and will mostly be at home for the next few weeks. I think they will be on a rota to go in to teach the children of key workers.
My eldest DGD was due to take GCSE's this summer, so now that is off. She is so disappointed as she has worked so hard and wants to go into 6th Form. Hopefully that will still happened based on mock results and teachers assessments.
So kind of your Urmston to look after your neighbour. I know not one of Mums neighbours have even contacted her to see if she is ok, let alone took her anything.
Partner is working from home, so I cannot hoover...Oh dear!
I have missed a lot of what is going on here this past week, so sending loving thoughts to you all. Especially Gilly Marydoll and Dragonfly
Crossed posts Marydoll
So sorry that the wedding is cancelled. It is indeed a worrying and sad time for all of us. ((hugs))
Good morning from a dull cold windy Sussex.
Just fed the birds who seem particularly hungry today.
Had a quick glance at my seedlings in the greenhouse (reminder to me must water them today)
Worried about whether there was any virus on my daily delivered newspaper, but gave up trying to work out how to sterilise it and read it instead.
Scrambled eggs will be for breakfast.
Read the Good morning posts. Everyone seems in good heart
mary I’m so sorry about DDs cancelled wedding. My sister will be in the same boat I think although I haven’t mentioned it to her yet. My nephew has a September wedding planned (I have bought a rather fetching pink dress and matching flowered jacket) but I think it will almost certainly be cancelled. It is a bugger isn’t it? But so important keep well for when she can get married in her lovely dress.
My plan for today
Work out a structure for my day including some form of exercise. Joan Bakewell slotted her structure into hourly activity, which may be the way to goSo exercise, reading, some sort of brain expanding exercise, housework, craft/art, gardening, knitting tv, radio. They are all part of my day so must get it sorted
In the meantime - everyone do all you can to keep well and happy
Feel so sorry for your daughter marydoll ?
Good morning Mick and all from the Scottish Borders. Looks like another sunny day to come.
Very strange times indeed. My religious friend has sent us prayers and psalm 91. That's the one about Believe in me and you'll be protected from the pestilence.
My car to be MOT 'd today. The mechanic will collect it as we are in solitary confinement.
Enjoyed my porridge. The gannets don't seem to have discovered oats yet!
I was pleased to hear Dragonfly's good news yesterday amid all the disappointments.
Take care all of you esp Gillybob and Marydoll and those with troubles.
Good morning everyone from sunny West Yorkshire.
I have no plans for today.
Might have a ? this afternoon to go with a read of my book and a podcast listen. Dusting can wait.
Big cat has recovered from the agony of a claw trim. Took a tin of tuna, mind you.
It is a trying time for everyone. As if some things aren’t bad enough at times, we get this .
My thoughts to all who ill or troubled and to everyone else, take special care ?
Good morning from east London, dry and grey and a bit chill outside; I know as I have been out for cat food. Never had a cat and don’t intend to but the one in the house in Southend is being fed by neighbours and it’s too much to ask them to source the food as well. Our internet choir last night was a good pickup, even those self isolating could join in although we all had to mute at times as the leader couldn’t make herself heard over the gossiping. Also been told that tennis is a safe sport (LTA) as it lends itself to safe distancing. We’ll see if that lasts til Monday which is my next session. I noticed the local swimming pool is still open but both local gyms are closed. DP got moved out of his favourite pub yesterday as it was closing early (no customers apart from him and his friend) and will close for the duration tomorrow. Strange times. Hope you have a day without too many frustrations.
Good morning everyone , it s dull and breezy here in Oxfordshire
I think by the time I need fresh fruit , veg and milk, it will be very hard to find.
But I’m ok until Monday if I eke it oit.
I’m sitting in the living room listening to the blasted Jackdaws building their nest in the chimney, there is a coul ( sorry that’s probably not spelt correctly) on the top which has prevented them from getting in for the last 20 years, but this year a couple of skinny ones have managed to wriggle in, too late now to try to stop them, but they make so much noise!
Marydoll I thought of you when I heard last night about weddings, I’m so sorry, but it will happen once all of this is over, we just all have to stay safe.
So, stay fit and well everybody, hugs to all who are having a tougher time than usual.
