Good Morning Everyone,
Its blue sky and cloudy this morning , but it will feel a different day due to recent announcements.
The local bus services are running on a Sunday service everyday , that includes those on here who are on the X5 Oxford -Cambridge route.
My usual Cafes maybe closed ,and the pub scene both are being monitored if there are any changes to the situation.
Anyway, a good fry up this morning , followed by a more casual morning, and watch old cycling events from last year on TV.
See one person has beaten me this morning , going off to the local Tesco which opens at 0600.
Mick

Allowed to shop for necessities and as a vegetarian I buy lots of veg and fruit when and where I can.
Not explaining myself any more. I have no underlying health issues and live a 10 minute walk away.
Not discussing anything more.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have a gorgeous day. I’m late to post - the girls both rang us so that was a hour gone, then I posted a looong message and the WiFi signal couldn’t cope! Aargh!

The short version is we had 2 ducks swimming in the pool yesterday and they’re back today, one waddling around on the grass, one swimming! Cute.
?

Marydoll & gillybob ❤️❤️

Hope Saturday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone. x

Poor Marydoll family. I can't believe it has come to this in such a short time.

Is the hotel group the same one who sacked their staff in the Highlands and made them homeless by any chance?
If you believe in karma - they'll get their comeuppance.

As for stripping shelves Gillybob our friend in London said that Sainsbury's was closing at noon as there wasn't anything left at all.

I am going to plant potatoes. Dig for victory!

mancgirl Sat 21-Mar-20 10:50:35

Marydoll . gillybob. You need these today. To all with worries, chin up, although it might not feel like it, you're doing a great job.

Curlywhirly Sat 21-Mar-20 10:35:51

Marydoll so sorry that the wedding is off, can't believe the hotel are not giving refunds - as it is shut, surely they are legally obliged to refund? Anyway, your Corporate Lawyer will give their lawyers a run for their money I am sure, I think Trading Standards would have something to say too.

Gillybob thinking of you and hope your business manages to survive. How is your husband doing? Hope he is getting his strength back and hope your tooth/sinus problem is getting better too. thanks

Sark just reminded me that we were half way to my brothers funeral an hour or so into the journey, when my DD shrieked that she still had her slippers on!

Still, what can you do? The whole event was a fiasco anyway so it was just one more thing.

breeze now and again here in Godalming
*GabriellaG54" Welcome back! I thought you'd gone for good, but then I noticed you posting the other day and I thought (again), "is that the Girl from IpanemaGodalming"? and yes it is.!
I must tell my neice Sally (train driver) to look out for you at Guildford station. You probably haven't changed a bit! grin

GabriellaG54 Sat 21-Mar-20 09:55:21

Good morning folks ?,?
A sunny day with white fluffy clouds in a pale blue sky...but a bit of a sharpish breeze now and again here in Godalming.
The fruit n veg market in The Pepperpot should be open so I'll jog down when I've 'typed' this. It's there 3 days a week and goods are always first class.
Yesterday afternoon was partly spent in transferring money from one bank to another to make the most of their switching and savings offers...anything to make a buck and it's better than nothing.
Well, as you probably know, you have to have passwords, PINS, memorable words, dates and places and hints as to those words, customer numbers etc and digital passes for them to send you codes (to a little calculator thingy with a slot for your card) to input on your mobile or laptop.
Then they all have to be different for digital (app) online and telephone banking which caused me to give one wrong number and hear a message saying they will send a new number in the post...??
Well, it kept me quiet for an hour as I have nothing else to do.
I vac and wipe every day just for summat to do.
Waitrose quiche for lunch with lots of salad and fresh crusty bread bought after my run this morning.
I managed to buy some packets of bread mix too so bought 3 different ones so I won't have to go out for bread.
I hope everyone abroad who wants to come back, can get back here although there is nothing to do and nowhere to go anyway. Might as well stay in the sun. ????
Good wishes and ? to everyone, sick, well, worried or alone.
Take care, BFN ?

I don’t usually post on this thread, although I read it often. I just want to send love to marydoll and her family.

What a dreadful way to be treated by the venue to add to all the upset.

------feeling sad for Marydoll x Who would have thought it would come to this after months of planning not to mention the excitement, such a terrible shame. Then being refused a refund on top of it. x

At the moment, I'm not thinking too far ahead, though medics in Oz are saying it won't be " safe " until at least September-----when another bug is due, so that's why I won't be thinking ahead. No use worrying, it only makes you ill. As the song goes " One Day at a Time ".

My mundane trials are so unimportant compared with Marydoll and Gillybob and I won’t list them. Someone started a thread about silver linings, and I have noted two this morning - the spring flowers and blossom in the (rather weedy) garden and the fact that when you are expecting a delivery you will be in to receive it. It will be the little things which help us through the weeks to come.

Good morning Michael, Annie and all, from a bright, sunny but cold Berks.
NanKate, I see you have ordered an electronic dictionary. Hope it is as good as I found mine.
Grandaughter emailed this morning and we are going to have a Face Time at 10 ish. She wanted it earlier, but DH is still in the bathroom, and I am still of the great unwashed tribe!
I may have to venture to our local shop later, to see if there is any milk or bread. I could try and make a loaf, but if my Hot Cross buns were anything to go by, it will not end well. Although the buns were superb after a quick blast in the microwave. Much better than toasted.
These days are going to be so unsettling for us all, that I am very grateful to have GN to dip in and out of.
Our Church is setting up a service on line, and we will join in that, but there are some who don't have internet access.
Love and hugs to Marydoll, Gillybob and all who are having problems.
Enjoy your day, and see you soon.

Good morning from the NE coast .

I barely slept at all last night with things going round and round in my head. This morning it all feels like a weird dream. Except it’s real and it’s frightening. The pictures of people on ventilators have brought back the worst memories I wouldn’t wish in my worst enemy .

I went to our little Tesco Express last night to get a bottle of wine and the shelves were virtually empty of wine and beer! So not only have the vultures stripped the shelves of food, they’re gonna have all the drinks too. It’s unbelievable!

I am thinking about you and your DD today too Marydoll . sad

I’m worried about some of the old people in my dads little Close. They closed the centre where they used to get a hot meal (my dad didn’t use it but plenty others did). I’ve managed to get a few bits but nothing much . No ready meals or tinned soup to be had. I rang SS last week as I’m particularly worried about 2 old people who have no families. They said they would try and get around .

I do hope everyone manages to get through these strange times as best they can .

Love Gillybob xx

Good morning from a breezy, sunny Essex. Must look for some washing and maybe change bedding again. Twice a week now will be the new normal!!
My DS has said to let him know when I am having breakfast and he will come and sit on my patio (while I am indoors) to sort of join me. May make it brunch now!
Had a lovely walk in the sunshine yesterday and did not see anyone. For a while I forgot what was going on in the world as I passed all the beautiful gardens filled with Spring flowersflowers
Try to have the best day possible and be thankful for small pleasures xxx

Marydoll Sat 21-Mar-20 09:22:17

Good morning Mick and all.

I'm still in bed, I'm not too well today.
The stress of yesterday has taken its toll, I think. My family are convinced I have the virus, despite me trying to reassure them. If I don't post again, please remember me fondly! ?

My daughter is distraught after the way the wedding venue treated her yesterday.
The plan was that she would just get married quietly next Saturday with no guests.
The hotel still hadn't contacted her. They then put a message on their website, saying they had suspended trading.?
They are refusing to refund a very large sum of money and are charging the guests for rooms, despite the fact that they hotel is closed indefinitely. This is a prestigious hotel group in Scotland, they have behaved abominably and I will ensure everyone knows about it.

DD was offered a date in a year's time, midweek, which is totally unacceptable.
We do have insurance, but it looks as if they will try to find a way to get out of paying out. However, we have a corporate lawyer in the family and he has offered to help.
My heart is broken for her, she just wants to be married, not necessary to have any fancy add one.

On the other hand, the florist turned up my home with flowers for me and a refund. He has had to close down his shop and the girls will probably lose their jobs.

When I phoned my hairdresser to tell them, they were in tears for my daughter. Later on, the owner contacted my daughter to offer a free appointment. People have been so kind.

My DIL came up trumps yesterday. She came down with shopping and brought DGD to see me. DGD stood at the end of the drive, dressed as Superwoman, and blew kisses and hugs from a distance. It was a bit surreal., but it gave me such a boost.
She doesn't understand why she can't get a cuddle. ?
DD went to the pharmacy at 8.30am this morning to collect my medication, to be told they won't open until 11am. It will be chaotic.☹️
What about elderly people who have no- one to queue for them?

I'm sorry this is not a cheery post, in a way I'm relieved, as the uncertainty was dragging us all down. Onward and upward.

Have the best day you can, everyone, you have all been so supportive, GN at it's very best.

BladeAnnie Sat 21-Mar-20 09:12:04

Good morning everyone from a sunny mid-Notts. Bedding changed and the washer busy already!! A quiet day planned here - DOH is about to disappear off to his workshop to "play" and I may do a bit of knitting and reading. My new knitting magazine has just arrived. Thinking of you today Marydoll. May we all stay safe and well and have the best day we possibly can x

mancgirl Sat 21-Mar-20 09:08:14

Good morning from a sunny but cold Manchester. Alicante airport was a different place last night. No holiday buzz, very quite. Few snack bars open, so we could get a sandwich, coffee and beer but strict measures in place regarding queuing. Only 1 person at a time to be served at the counters but plenty food. No problem keeping your distance in the seating area as there weren't a lot of people around. I did smile to myself at the police patrolling the gates when boarding. Made everyone stand a metre apart and then everyone jammed together while queueing to board. Lockdown on the UK won't seem as strange to me having just done a week of it in Spain. Take care everyone. (((. ))). Hugs x

I didn’t appreciate that it is the wedding today.

Have a superb day marydoll
