Good Morning All x
Well it was beautiful first thing--6am so I threw open the patio door to breathe in the beautiful sea air, but it was perishing cold so I doubled back in as soon as the cats went out. Clouded over now but still fine in parts.
Breakfast over with, dishes done and thoughts of dinner ahead to which a poster gave me an idea. Gammon in the freezer, new potatoes and mixed froz veg . White sauce easy to make, sorted.
Just reading that the Coronavirus was first identified in the 1960's and causes respiratory infections in both humans and animals and the " new " virus was known as MERS-CoV.
It goes on to say that the viruses are very fragile and only live outside the body for 24hrs and are easily destroyed by detergents and cleaning agents.
The risk of UK residents contracting the infection in the UK is very low. How things change !
Ah well, as long as we adhere to the rules and regulations in force we should be alright as there's no doubt that it's human contact. Stay safe and well everyone. xx

Good Morning Saturday
(96 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its blue sky and cloudy this morning , but it will feel a different day due to recent announcements.
The local bus services are running on a Sunday service everyday , that includes those on here who are on the X5 Oxford -Cambridge route.
My usual Cafes maybe closed ,and the pub scene both are being monitored if there are any changes to the situation.
Anyway, a good fry up this morning , followed by a more casual morning, and watch old cycling events from last year on TV.
See one person has beaten me this morning , going off to the local Tesco which opens at 0600.
Mick
Good morning all,
It's a bright, sunny and chilly morning here.
Nothing exciting on the agenda today other than to try to get a few vegetables if there are any to be had.
Got some more bedding to wash. It should dry outside, thank goodness.
Thinking of marydoll and her family. ?
Stay safe everyone, and those of you with worries and troubles, I send a virtual hug.
Curlywhirly my DD has a Labrador, and his entire life seems to be searching for his next meal or snack!
Good Morning from an increasinly bright Black Country.
At least if the weather improves, we can make a start on tidying the garden. I will be making a list of jobs, to include painting walls in Kitchen, tidying out garage, cleaning living room carpet.
Had a Mothers Day card from DS yesterday. They were originally planning to come over today. He had put an Amazon voucher in the card, so now I can stock up my Kindle! I think there is a lot of reading ahead.
Ha ha sark, I went to work a few years ago, and halfway through the day realised I had one black and one brown boot on!
Hopefully, now everything is closed, the people who were still out socialising will now realise how serious this is! People were talking about going out for one last drink last night on FB, and my DIL said a bar near them were offering pints for the price of half a pint! How totally irresponsible, there are many out there who still don't 'get it'.
Wising you all the best day you can, with special thoughts for Marydoll and her daughter and family. Such a sad and difficult time. Thinking of gilly also
Good morning from a bright Cheshire. Am back in bed after our ravenous dog woke me up at 6.30 for her breakfast; anyone who has ever had a labrador will know that they are permanently ravenous! Quiet day ahead, better get used to it, suppose they are all going to be quiet for a while?. No doubt I shall do some housework/gardening/tidying/cooking - I'm sure I will have no problem finding something to do! We will also take the dog for a walk after lunch, himself is trying to do 10,000 steps a day, so it could be quite a long walk!
Hope everyone has a good weekend, take care.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning all. Bit of a dull start here in Glasgow but fingers crossed our forecast for sun is correct for once?
Such a lovely sunny day yesterday meant I got lots done in the garden. Fresh air, excercise plus the essential coffee break helped take my mind off all the doom and gloom going on around all of us. I have never been very good at accepting, ‘you can’t do that’ but I’m learning fast?
A difficult day for you and your family Marydoll?
Hope everyone has the best day they can.
Good morning from a sunny Market Harborough. The world is so bleak so I'm going back to bed. Sending love and hugs to all who are suffering illness or depressed xxx
Good morning everyone, dull and cold here , hardly seems worth while getting dressed ! But one must maintain standards ?
Good morning from sunny Colchester. Haven't really got going this morning.
As DS is working all hours in a supermarket I will venture into his room to clean and change the bed. I usually just throw clean stuff his way and dirty stuff appears some days later....wish me luck!
Thinking of Marydoll and her family today. Although I don't always post as I'm one of those lurkers, I enjoy reading all your tales and stories. Such lovely people on this thread.
Strange to think just last week we were in Cornwall for a few days, before all the mega changes to our lives was beginning to sink in.
Like many others we're going to miss that close contact with our families but FaceTime at least will help.
Sunny here this morning in my corner of Durham. Gardening on the agenda with a gentle run sometime inbetween. Plenty of time ahead to work through the list of tasks I'm creating.
Stay safe everyone and take care. I haven't felt at all religious lately but I shall say a little prayer today for you lovely people supporting one another so well.
Good Morning Mick and all. Very cold and extremely windy on the S Welsh coast. The wind kept me awake most of the nought, were very exposed here.
Sark I once went to work with one navy and one black shoe, but I had to laugh at your faux pas, like corner I'm wondering here how you managed that.
Went for a blustery walk yesterday, will go again today.
Hope we all have as good a day as we can.
Good morning from sunny East coast.
Please everybody stick to the rules (that’s not an easy option for this feisty generation) we must protect those out there who are doing vital jobs and are heroes. Most have young families and aged relatives but they are sticking with it. We need delivery drivers, binmen, doctors, nurses, benefit officers, care home workers, shop workers and so on the list is endless. We cannot afford to risk getting the virus ourselves and then passing it on to an innocent stranger doing his job. It’s selfish to carry on as normal. These are not normal times.
For myself I am going to watch self isolation and exercise at home from LATEST on top right of this page. When this is all over I hope to be superwoman and surprise DGC and anyone else that knows me!
Sad to hear Kenny Rogers died. Alexa is treating me to his songs this morning. Lots of sense in them if you read between the lines.
Have a good day everybody take care of each other. We can do this. Never let it be said we didn’t play our part.
DH just returned from Morrison's where the car park was full, the trolleys were full and the shelves empty.
This an area where you would see people in their pjs at lunchtime now they can miraculously make it out of bed and be in the supermarket at 7am.
The check out queues were so long that they were putting themselves at risk.
I despair.
Good morning Michael and all GNs. The sun is shining in South Yorkshire but it is cold again. We need the wind to shift direction! We worked in the garden on our knees yesterday and are both feeling it today, so it’s going to be a quiet, easy day (may as well get used to it, eh?). DH is getting his jigsaw out! The kettle conked out this morning. I would normally take myself off out to buy a new one, but I will have to look online. Worse problems to have.......
Stay well and have the best day you can folks.
Morning Mick and All from a very sunny day here in South Bucks ?
Mick I will be watching re-runs of the tennis as you are with the cycling.
????? to the Marydoll family.
I’m so grateful to be on GN where we can chat, laugh and cry together.
Waiting for my small electronic Dictionary/Thesaurus to be delivered from Amazon today. I have a childish excitement about this. It may help me complete some crosswords. ?
Beautiful sunny skies here on the Suffolk coast but a bitingly cold wind coming off the North Sea. The sea is wild and exciting to watch from behind glass. Never mind the sun will cheer us all up?. We’ll take little pooch out later but will probably get blown along the beach, so maybe go to the forest where it’s more sheltered. DH will go out for the papers. We only have them on Saturdays. Should he go? We like the supplements and puzzles that last us all week. I’m going to finish off a big blanket that I’ve been crocheting for over a year now. I’ve run out if wool and can’t seem to get the extra chunky I need. I think I’ll make do with what I’ve got and put an end to it - it’s big enough. Have a pleasant day and make the most of our isolation. X
Good morning from the Shropshire borders,a bright start but cold.
Looks like another day in the garden today and a walk up to the post box to send some photos to my mum.
Stay safe everyone.
Good morning from the NE where it rained overnight.
Did a towel wash yesterday and retreated to the bedroom with my book while they dried.
I read a chapter then dozed off but almost immediately woken by my mobile ringing. It was a very nice young man with an Irish accent and he was just ringing me from O2 to see if he could help me get better value out of my package.
We had a lovely wee chat in which he reminded me that I had a large balance on my phone and should I lose it while I am out and about. Silly boy, I told him me and the phone are going nowhere and the cost of a few text messages or phone calls was the least of my worries.
He thanked me for taking his call, I thanked him as I got someone to talk to.
Stay safe everyone.
Morning all from another dry and bright but windy day in north Wales where I’m trotting to b&q to pick up extractor pipe DH has ordered & paid for - so no touching!
Love the blouse hiccup sark! Hope all who need shopping get their supplies - we seem to be ok around here albeit limited to on or two on some items.
Stay safe folks x
Good morning from east London, bright, sunny and cool. DP has been saying ‘it’ll take us 3 months to get this house sorted’; now he has his chance. That’s our house I’m talking about, not the Southend one. We will go out for a walk today, there’s lots of choice around here to spread out. Wondering what DS will do as he was intending to stay at uni (all online studying) but now the pub he works at has closed we may get a taxi request. I have referred him to the shelf stacking jobs being advertised; wonder how much demand there’ll be for that. I’ve just had a text from quantas saying my booking to Australia has been cancelled..... ? Have the best day you can.
Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
No plans today, surprise surprise. DH is going to the supermarket to get the things we forget yesterday and we may go for a walk along the sea path. It's never busy and I'm sure we can keep away from others.
I have my puzzle, patchwork and book. There are also admin matters to attend to.
Thinking of you Marydoll and your daughter and future SIL.
Have the best day you can and stay safe xx
Good morning from a gloriously sunny but freezing Sussex
Birds have been fed and inspected my emerging seedlings all coming along nicely.
I may go out with DH this morning and dog, but it is always tempting to garden without interference from the dog. He loves to help. He actually thinks I’m mouse hunting.
I have found a shopping slot on Asda for 7 April?, so I am counting myself very lucky at the moment. Most staples are sold out though, but I’m hoping things will have improved before then. I now have a shop coming from Waitrose, next week and this one from Asda. I shall order no more than we need for a week and make it do.
I belong to a neighbour help scheme set up for the virus and there was a message on there yesterday from a lady who has kidney problems and who husband is is ill with heart problems. She has been unable to get out recently and now has to wait for her next lot of money due in a fortnight. She has nothing to eat. The scheme is arranging things for her and contacting the local food bank social services etc.
How lucky we all are compared to that poor soul, and how heartening to see such generous help and love for our fellow men and women.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bright sunny morning. Birds are still singing.
Nothing planned today although I may finish washing the greenhouse.
I am expecting a parcel. Is the post still operating?
Keep well everyone.
Good Morning from Fife where the sun is just behind some clouds ready to pop its little head out. Making such a difference to us all at this dreadful time. I need a white sauce for my ham I am going to bake today so will take a walk up to the retail outlet, if I can't get any I shall think of something else no doubt. Not an essential at all. I hopefully have most things in my cupboards/fridge to last a wee while. Thinking of all GN's who have other problems also to contend with, it's not easy. We shall all rally round though one way or another. Keep your chin up
