Engagement Party and then Hen Party
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a clear bright start here in Brackley despite overnight frost.
Today, stay in do some housework , I have got enough food in so will only go out midweek for a look at shelf stock in nearby supermarket.
Only hope the situation starts to improve , with all various closers of pubs, and other related places .
Mick

Very wise*Nfk*. Lovely here in Kent, already been for a 4 mile walk to farm shop for veggies. Owners are tearing their hair out... hope my 3 carrots and 2 parsnips weren’t too many! ? Am rather anxious as specially mild soap powder is running out and not sure Asda will have any. Can’t use regular stuff as it makes me very itchy. Of such small things is ours lives made up these days..
Good news - I got my felodipino! €9 and although I don’t pay at home, I’m grateful to be able to buy it here. I will get another box next month. The pharmacist said this was her last box until delivery later.
We have a pharmacy in either direction from the front door so I chose the one that was a slightly longer walk! We take our freedoms for granted. A walk (even in the rain) was wonderful. I felt like singing in it ... ? ?
Good Luck Cambia
I can’t believe that people are still arriving in their campervans Feeling, but the Caravan Club only closed their sites yesterday so if the site is one of theirs it may have been too late for them to get back home. Hopefully they’ll go home today.
We were booked to go with ours to Somerset next week, but cancelled a while ago when it was obvious which way things were going.
Late today because I woke at 6.00 am, went to the bathroom and then back to sleep till 9.00 am. Still, have got DH up, washed, shaved and dressed and one lot of bedding changed. Will put the clothes dryer up for the first time this year and have lovely wind blown laundry.
Yesterday’s coffee morning with neighbours at the top of our little close, all warmly wrapped up, clutching our mugs and standing six feet apart (easier to visualise than metres for me) was lovely and we will do it next Sunday if fine. Obviously no gossip or scandal exchanged because everyone was talking at full volume, but good to see our neighbours.
Good morning from a bright but very chilly Scotland. Washing on line although it is unlikely to dry much, but looks cheerful to see it blowing in the wind. Will plant some bulbs today. We have a local shop which had plenty of stock until the camper vans arrived and cleaned it out. The campsite is closed so they are all parked up camping wild. Hmmm. Hygiene and waste issues (of all sorts) must contribute to spreading the virus. Hoping they get sent home. Disclaimer, they are normally welcome.
Morning to everyone it's bright but chilly here. Manured veg patch over the weekend and started to sew seeds. Hopeful for the bounty of mixed veg as always every year there are hits and misses. We are fortunate to have a garden to work in while bird watching. If people don't have a garden access to a park is beneficial at a distance from others of course. It's just nice to get out now the weather is brighter. Let's hope this week brings an improvement for everyone
Good morning from a sunny Essex. A bit late today as my DGS insisted I joined in Joe Wickes daily work out on line. It is aimed at school children but I gave it a good go!! Need a large mug of tea now and will read all the posts at my leisure as have no plans today! Hope everyone is keeping safe xxx
Morning all from a bright and frosty South Notts. What peculiar times we are living in.
Have had a sad phone call to say that a niece has passed away after leaving hospital a few weeks ago - no connection to the corona-virus. Sorry to say that we'd mostly lost touch with that side of the family. I'm not sure even if the poor girl will even have a funeral. I feel for her poor parents as she was only in her forties.
Hope all is well with everyone in these challenging times.
Good morning from bright Leicestershire.
I had a good day yesterday except my DS Facetiming me without warning so I had to run around looking for a suitable head attire.
Also my DD arrived back from Australia to self quaratining, no toilet rolls and no food. I managed to get her some black toilet rolls!!
The problem is that she is in London and we have her dog. By the time she could come up and get him I expect they will be in lockdown. She is so sad without him as he is her baby.
I hope you got your medication Urmston and that you are okay out there. I think maybe it is better out in Spain, the people couldn't be as stupid as they are being here.
Good morning from a sunny NE, a few miles south makes a difference gillybob.
DD and I had a long chat on Skype yesterday morning, even the neighbour's cat came to see who she was talking to.
We had a nice lunch of duck confit with saute potatoes and courgette Provencal washed down with a Macon village.
Family whatsapp busy yesterday so we caught up with what everyone was up to.
DD has a car provided with her new job which meant she could drive across Brussels to the English shop and stock up. Only food shops and pharmacy are open but supermarket not open on a weekend.
DS rang me at 9.30 last night for a long chat. His work is supposed to be relocating to another city in May, don't know how that will work with staff all at home for the forseeable future.
I am trying for a medical supplies delivery, don't want to wait too long in case of delays.
Hope everyone has the best day they can, stay safe.
Catching up on your latest GM reports. I hope House Arrest isn't too awful for Urmston and all of us really though I am glad not to be in transit. Good luck Cambia
We were lucky this morning re tablets. DH phoned the practice and his own doctor answered the phone! She said it was a 5 day wait for prescriptions but when he said he was down to his last 2 tablets (Naughty boy) she said Come in later today and I'll have them for you.
He is in the extremely vulnerable category.
Not sure about his hospital appointments. We'll just wait and see.
Good morning all-SO lovely to hear from you all. I’m a late started after a restless night. It’s lovely and sunny here in Staffs although there was a frost. Will meet up for a walk with a friend, more than 2 metres apart and “dancing” away from anyone we meet!
Ellenvanin-adult GGC? You must all have started your families very young? Do tell.
Good morning everyone. I was up at 7am today but the sun wasn't shining and it felt cold, so back to bed til 8.30. Tsk. Just realised yesterday that in the run up to lockdown I forgot to get a supply of hearing aid batteries. Without hearing aids I'm not far above profoundly deaf, but then I suppose that doesn't really matter at the moment! They will be rationed for family phone calls. I spent such a lovely day yesterday with the sunshine and flowers and lots of Family WhatsApp. I did my tai chi down by the garden pond, then topped up the water. The fish loved that and came up to the surface for the first time this year. And then a large brown ? flew past me - I think a very early appearance in these northern climes. I googled the spiritual significance - "when a butterfly crosses your path it means that you should embrace all changes coming into your life. It is a symbol of happiness and good luck that will follow you in the coming period.". I shall embrace that and wish you all many butterflies in the coming difficult months x. ? ? ?
Not looking forward to today. We are flying back to the UK from Crete via Athens. Up until now we have been able to isolate ourselves in a rural area with very few people. The Greek government have been very quick to act and closed bars, cafes and non essential shops down ten days ago. Today we are not allowed to leave the house without a form and passports. We will have to spend the night at Athens airport before leaving tomorrow morning.
We have to get back to the UK but are dreading coming into contact with other people. We will of course self isolate as soon as we reach home so that we don’t pose a risk to others. We have masks, gloves and sanitisers and will do our best to keep a safe distance from others whilst travelling.
Good morning Mick & all from sunny Nottingham.
Washing today & bike ride later.
Zumba instructor has set up class on gymcatch will join in this evening.
ER was one of my favourites too BladeAnnie will also tune in on catch up.
Good luck with HMRC Gillybob
Hope you get your tablets Urmston
Take care everyone.
Good morning Michael, Annie, and all, from a beautiful sunny bit of Berks.
It was funny looking out of our bedroom window earlier, there was frost on the top of some cars, but not others.
Had a lovely, if quiet Mothering Sunday yesterday. We went for a short walk, round the block. Not many people were out, and it was far enough for DH to manage.
Both boys phoned, and DD Face Timed, and woke us up from a doze. Luckily I didn't look too much of a wreck!
Last night, at 7, I lit a candle in the front window, and it lasted until I blew it out after 10 pm.
This morning DH has an appointment for a diabetic eye check.
Last week when he rang, it was still going ahead, but I still will ring before we set out, just to make sure.
I think I may make a lasagne for supper, so must go and get the mince from the freezer.
If I have the energy, I hope to get into the garden later, and tackle a few more weeds, and self sown seedlings from the Nigella. Lovely as they are, they do take over.
Marydoll, loved your photo.
It reminded me of ours in their home made clothes. I was quite inventive, but they don't see it, do they?
Thinking of all those who are poorly, or under the weather. Especially Gillybob.
Have a good day one and all.
Good Morning from a cold but sunny Bristol.
We had a lovely chat on Skype with my DD DSI and DGS2 which was lovely and later my DS DDIL DGS1 and DGD came and we stood in the door and they stayed in the garden, strangest Mothers Day ever but it was enjoyable none the less
I think lock down is coming as a lot of people are not playing by the rules and that will hurt us all.
Keep safe everyone
Good morning from sunny Manchester. 3 continuous sunny days, unheard of! Had a lovely garden visit from the 2 ds's. Before the came I placed a beers, snacks and glasses in 3 separate areas of the garden. They arrived with cards and gift, placed in the central no man's land for me to pick up! Had a nice chat for about an hour before they left. Later on we set up Zoom for the family, so got to see everyone. The 4 and 2 year olds (cousins) thought it hilarious to strip off and run round naked! Take care everyone, keep safe. (((. . ))) hugs for all. Xx
Good morning all. I had quite a good day yesterday with facetime and phone calls with the family. I had an email from Sainsburys to say I was a vulnerable customer and that dedicated slots would be available today. I'm happy to report that this system worked, although the website went a bit wobbly at one point. It remains to be seen if they turn up and what I get but I am very hopeful. Let's hope that the stockpilers don't find a way to abuse it. Well done to Sainsbury's
I took so long to type my post (on my phone) that the sun is now shining here on the North East coast. The sea is shimmering as though it’s just a normal day .
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is extremely quiet. I braved Lidl this morning for essentials. It's my nearest shop. The girl on the till was feeling cross that they were in a crowd all day long and nobody providing them with screenwear. I thanked her profusely.
Oh Marydoll you do know how to make the best of things.
Mother's Day was a bit of a non-event here. apart from 2 video calls and I have had 2 home made cards. I baked a cake and ate most of it.
The silver lining today was I may have picked up my last Big Mac packaging from my garden for a while as they have closed! and the pub across the street has closed. Hurrah!
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from the NE coast where there is no sign of the sun yet .
Well here I am on a Monday (my absolute worst day of the week) sitting in my pj’s having a second cup of tea and it all seems surreal .
I’m going to take my time getting ready and will be heading off to “that place” in order to send some emails and sit on the HMRC helpline for what will no doubt be hours (that’s assuming it hasn’t crashed) .
My DD is very upset and frightened and was in tears on the phone last night . I would honestly bring her and Evie here if it were not for the stupid (and not very nice) dog she has been lumbered with . She can’t even take him for a nice walk with the baby as he would pull the pram over.
I wonder if I would be allowed to spend some time with them every day , even just pottering in the garden?
Managed to get a few bits and pieces for my dad this weekend so he should be okay for a while although I suspect the loneliness and isolation will begin to take its toll soon.
I do hope you manage to get your medication Urmstongran thinking of you over in your beloved Malaga . It must be torture not being able to get about at all.
We are going to be in a bit of a pickle moneywise very soon so clinging to the hope that those “lovely people”
at HMRC have some good news . I Might get a bit sleep then .
Marydoll you made me laugh (again) my DS accuses me of “child abuse” saying that I “made him wear” the most gorgeous pair of blue kickers . They cost me almost a weeks wages back in the early 80’s and I was so proud to buy they for him, they were so cute.
Well that’s me . I do hope everyone stays safe and well and we can look back on this dreadful time and smile.
Love to all my Gransnet friends
Gillybob xx
Good morning all,
A lovely bright, but chilly morning again.
It should have been the coffee group today, but of course that is cancelled for the foreseeable.
No church yesterday, either, but I did watch the service online given by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
I got another load of bedding dried outside yesterday, so will iron that later. (I know, exciting ?). Then I must get outside with a bowl of hot soapy water and the scrubbing brush and scrub down the mini greenhouses ready for the plants to go in. That should keep me busy for an hour or so.
How are lives have been forced to change, though watching all those foolish people yesterday flocking to the seaside and the countryside left me feeling incredulous at their selfishness and stupidity. I suppose they might have thought it's likely going to be the last chance they get to go anywhere, but honestly, where is common sense? It's bound to lead to lockdown very soon, I fear.
Take care everyone. ?
