.........to be broadcasting the announcements about coronavirus measures.

We know him as someone with scant regard for the truth and his manner of delivery is bumbling. He lacks gravitas. I wonder if some of the idiots who have ignored all the rules just dismiss what he is saying because it is him saying it. There are strong feelings about him.

Might be better if the CMO were to deliver these rules.

Whether or not Boris is wonderful doesn't come into it.
The fact is he won the election by a good majority and is our leader. Now is the time to forget party politics and try to pull together, stand by each other. How about a bit of loyalty, a bit less of whinge whinge whinge. How about using common sense and trying your best instead of endless grumbling.
He isn't perfect, but what leader is? And anyway, he's doing his best under difficult circumstances. And he's doing ok in my opinion.

The continuing situation about construction workers shows how inadequate this government is and what its priorities are. The economy and profits must be protected. So in London the tube remains packed and Sadiq Khan's efforts to close down the city are undermined, putting NHS workers and essential staff at risk. And some say Boris is wonderful!!!

For merlotgran - and anyone else who doesn't understand the voting system:

' Turnout in this election was 67.3 percent, meaning that around 32 million Brits, or under of half the entire population, voted. Of those 32 million voters, 43.6 percent or nearly 14 million voted for Boris Johnson.'

now people are being urged not to stockpile medications from pharmacies

Stickpile what exactly? Surely for repeat prescriptions it should be what you normally have, i.e. one month, two month, whatever, if people demand more, sorry, you can’t have extra as it will leave us short. If it’s other meds, i.e. paracetamol, cough medicine, limit it to one each.
The queue at our local GP pharmacy has been a two hour plus wait all this week, tiny premises so only one in at a time, fair enough, and only two or three staff, due to staff shortages.

Brilliantly put Smileless, you're right there. Police in our town moved a group of people who were sat on the grass, drinking beer from cans, in the cenotaph gardens today. Judging from the state of them, I doubt very much if they even know who our prime minister is!

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 20:29:37

My hero is Maya Angelou, doesn't make me Maya.

merlotgran Tue 24-Mar-20 20:20:00

Exactly, smileless, There was a comment in one of the newspapers today that it will serve them right if, when they get their massive credit card bills, they won't be able to pay them because they've lost their jobs.

Smileless2012 Tue 24-Mar-20 20:12:28

I wonder if some of the idiots who have ignored all the rules just dismiss what he is saying because it is him saying it

No, I don't think so. They're either idiots or just selfish thinking only of themselves and wouldn't listen regardless of whose saying it.

Now people are being urged not to stock pile medications from pharmacists. Those of us who wouldn't do so or stockpile groceries don't need urging, and those what will, will do so regardless.

I believe that Churchill is Johnson's hero. I think it's a tragedy that he is PM in today's circumstances.

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 19:53:37

What exactly is in any shape or form in the link between BJ and Churchill?

GagaJo Tue 24-Mar-20 19:45:47

Not chip! Chimp

GagaJo Tue 24-Mar-20 19:45:24

It’s not the anti BJ voters that are making this political. We could have a communist chip at the helm as long as they do a good job, for all I care.

Keep our NHS workers safe.
Be firm and send the police/army in.
Ramp up the number of NHS staff.
Sort out access to essential supplies for key workers.

A young relative who despises Boris posted on FB a picture of Churchill .Then a comment that Boris is loving his moment of war time spirit.Good job she lives at a distance and we don't speak very often.I don't think for one moment he's loving this awful situation. And frankly I'm sick of politicised and divisive comments at this time.

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 18:46:21

You like that silly little picture don't you Opal?

Nobody is bothered about him. We are concerned with the here and now. A friedn has just told me a PRU in a very deprived area had 27 children attending. Do you think they were all up to date with handwashing and tissues?

Oopsminty Tue 24-Mar-20 18:14:20

He's doing fine

Take a break from pointless political garbage

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 17:52:23

? back at you lemongrove!

GagaJo Tue 24-Mar-20 17:48:53

Those of you with the political arguments, GIVE IT UP! We are way, way beyond that. BJ is our PM. The government we have are the ones in charge.

This is the biggest crisis of any of our lifetimes. No party politics should even enter your heads. IF they are, you need to think yourself lucky you have nothing else to worry about.

mrsmopp Tue 24-Mar-20 17:47:45

Would you all rather bring back Theresa May?
Do you think she would a better job of it all??

MawB Tue 24-Mar-20 17:42:11

Don’t shoot the messenger.

merlotgran Tue 24-Mar-20 17:41:00

However, most people didn't vote for him

Eh?

Hetty58 Tue 24-Mar-20 17:30:03

I usually think of Boris as a clown. Despite that, I must admit to being impressed by yesterday's honest speech.

However, most people didn't vote for him and take little notice of the rules. We'll all have to suffer far more (all of us obeying the rules now) if (probably when) things proceed to total lockdown. We'll hardly be able to leave our homes, maybe one person allowed to the nearest shop. No walks outside. There will be roadblocks and army everywhere!

Opal Tue 24-Mar-20 17:25:59

To answer the original OP, maybe he's not "the best", (although I think he's doing a great job at the moment) but he's a million times better than this poor excuse of a leader would have been

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 24-Mar-20 17:20:33

labaik ok you are officially let off....blush
I have heard that some pubs that are doing take away food are offering drinks at the bar whilst you wait. How thoughtful of them.....

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 24-Mar-20 17:18:52

Luckgirl do you remember the ‘ old days’ during elections, we had vans going around with a chap inside with a huge loud speaker on the top.

Imagine hundreds of vans going around the towns and villages, shouting at people to get off of the streets. I’d like them to follow it up with a water cannon but I don’t suppose we have any, or if it would be allowed..........sadly.

It might work

Greymar Tue 24-Mar-20 17:18:20

I believe the mayor of New York is good.
