Good morning everyone!
I belong to the sue ryder online community which exists to support bereaved people across the UK. This poem, (author unknown to me) was posted on there and I thought it might be of comfort to others in these worrying times!

IN THE TIME OF QUIET
No one’s told the daffodils about the pause to Spring
And no one’s told the birds to roost and asked them not to sing
No one’s asked the lazy bee to cease his bumbling round
And no one’s stopped the bright green shoots emerging through the ground
No one’s told the sap to rest, deep within the wood
And stop the sleepy trees from waking, wreathed about in bud
No one’s told the sky to douse its brightest shades of blue
And stop the scudding clouds from puffing headlong into view
No one’s asked the lambs to still the springs beneath their feet,
To stop their rapid rush and quell each joyful bleat
No one’s told the stream to halt its gurgle or its flow
And warned the playful breezes, not to gust and blow
No one’s asked the raindrops not to fall upon the earth
And fail to quench the soil in the season of rebirth

No one’s locked the sun down, or dimmed the shimmer of the moon
And even in the darkest night, the stars are still immune

Remember what you value, remember who is dear
Close the doors to danger and keep your family near
In the quiet all around us take the time to sit and stare
And wonder at the glory unfurling everywhere
Look towards the future, after the ordeal
And keep faith in Mother Nature’s power and will to heal

Take care everyone....keep safe x

That's quite wonderful and yes, I myself have, on my daily runs, taken time to appreciate nature and the seasons as they roll around, never more appreciated than now when many of us have the time to stand and stare.
Thanks for the reminder. ?

What a wonderful poem sal49, thank you for sharing it smile

On my commute at the start of the week I drove past a field which was full of sheep and lambs - it must have been a busy weekend for the farmer - and it struck me that in the midst of all this chaos and sorrow the world keeps turning, the seasons change and new life comes along. One day this will all be a distant nightmare and hopefully we’ll emerge from it with a different perspective and better understanding of what’s really important.

It IS a lovely poem; but a bit of me feels that the coronavirus itself is also the power of Mother Nature!

Nature can be cruel as well as beautiful.

Sorry to throw in a negative note; but the last few weeks I have been thinking how cruel nature can be - my OH's PD stands out in my mind just now. It is all part of nature - the good and the bad hand in hand.

Please don't shoot me!
