Hello my lovelies. At last I can open up and prepare for a wee buffet to celebrate our new refuge. cupcake brew cafe wine smile flowers
Welcome!

Good morning all. We awoke to a stunning Turneresque sky.
Stunning and good for the soul. I then duly enjoyed Croissants - thank you - with freshly brewed tea via my pal ^Mrs. Teasmade.^

We hope to get outside and sow more seeds today, and tend the seedlings under glass and tend the emerging dahlias in their pots. What with new life in the fields and the general unfurling of a myriad of buds, there is much to behold. More lambs again yesterday, my rather rusty, to say the least, "midder" skills being called upon just the once to a primigravida ?

MY cycling pal and I (and helpful scribe) were reminiscing about trips made in the past. I really miss it having done very little last year due to ikntermittaent balance problems A much anticipated trip to Europe e was cancelled as I was not well enough to train hard enough. I certainly will not venture onto roads and envisage the odd pootle along stunningly beautiful (if rather pedestrian) cycle tracks. No matter, there i much to be thankful for.

Callgirl - yes I would be angry too and would direct such stupid people to listen to my excolleagues and relatives who are struggling in ITU units and their like, nursinrg and trying to manage this grim situation. I also feel for relatives of those affected who cannot offer much needed solace due to restrictions.

Well enough waffling and I hope this all makes sense. It is so wonderful we all have this refuge of soops kitchen We can offload, and for me it injects some sort of normality and contact with a caring community. TOYA

Morning all .

Lovely to wake up to a blue sky morning. Horribly behind on kitchen affairs, despite being locked down time just seems to get away with me these days.

That's unbelievable Syn - how can anyone think this is a hoax? Some people stupidity knows no bounds eh?

We had a Morrisons delivery yesterday we received 21 items, there were 14 items cancelled altogether and some of the most bizarre substitutions EVER. How anyone would think sending lemon sponge puddings for trifle sponges would be a great idea amazes me? But I suppose if that's all I have to moan about it its fine. Sam was a little miffed to find no dog food , no dog biscuits but a substitution of 3 bags of doggie chocs !! He'll get over it ;-)

Congrats to your son soop - I love his enthusiasm.

Tonight we are having a family party via Zoom . It takes in 3 countries and 23 people !! There will be music and alcoholic beverages and in our case lemon sponge puddings probably LOL !!

Happy day all x

Certainly not Galen whatever was I thinking. I now know what it is. Do you have a big one? ?

Galen Fri 03-Apr-20 23:05:14

Doodle
Would I have anything rude?

Smileless2012 Fri 03-Apr-20 22:39:16

I'm not surprised you're angry Synonymous that's quite disturbing isn't it that anyone could think this is all a hoax.

I know, sorry Doodle but never fear I'll get some at the weekend.

Sweet dreams everyonemoon

Doodle Fri 03-Apr-20 21:33:17

Glad your DH is improving synonymous. The stuffed peppers sound nice but I can’t have them, they give me wind blush
soop lovely photo of you and Hannah. Many happy returns to her.
smileless how could you forget our hot cross buns ?. I love them.
Going off now to Google bodhran ?. (Hope it’s not rude Galen)

Synonymous Fri 03-Apr-20 21:12:57

I hope you are all staying safe and keeping away from other folk if you are in the older and vulnerable category. Forgive me for venting but .....

I phoned a friend yesterday just to touch base and find out how she is managing but then she let the cat out of the bag that she had just seen some visitors out of her home. She is in her 90s and that was their second visit in four days. That was bad enough but they have told her that there is nothing to worry about as it is all fake news about the virus and is just part of a plot to control people and take over the world! She says they were very well informed sbout everything and it is entirely possible. I was very nearly speechless as you can imagine but I have passed on the details to her key holders who will know how to deal with the whole thing. In any case I can do nothing as I can't go anywhere, she is vulnerable and I feel so helpless and pretty angry! Rant over so please forgive me for airing it in the kitchen!
Last night I was told of yet another death from Covid of an elderly friend the day before. sad I was also told of another 3 younger friends who have recovered so that helps in the balance of things.

Apart from all that we are both keeping busy and Himself cooked Stuffed Peppers for our dinner today and it was superb. He is very determined and I am so chuffed for him that he is getting more normality back into his life - little things but all important. smile

So much going on in the kitchen that I don't think I can keep up or comment sensibly! hmm
TOYA flowers

Synonymous Fri 03-Apr-20 20:17:39

soop On seeing your photo with Hannah Himself reckons you have hardly changed at all and I think he is quite right. On the other hand I imagine that Hannah has changed considerably! grin

Susan56 Fri 03-Apr-20 18:13:21

Soop, lovely picture of you and Hannah?
Cherry?Sending strength and loving thoughts.
Dizzy, glad you are well enough to go back to work.Thank you for your service.
Callgirl, what a lovely gesture by Jakemans to your son.
We have had a day off decorating today as the weather has been so lovely and so we have spent the day in the garden. We had a pheasant in the garden earlier and DH was torn between admiring it and wanting to chase it off the veg patch!
We also had a delivery from Asda so quite a busy day!
We should have been on our way to Belgium today,we had planned a tour of Belgium and Holland rescheduled now for next year.
TOYA and stay safe.

callgirl1 Fri 03-Apr-20 18:11:00

So glad you`re better now Dizzy, but don`t try to take on too much straightaway, I know, daft thing to say right now!
Soop, a friend shoved some newspapers through my letterbox this morning, amongst them yesterday`s Daily Express. There in the centre was your handsome son, bless him!
My daughter picked me up some bread and veg today from Asda, I should be OK now till my Morrisons delivery on Sunday evening, provided everything ordered arrives.
My son is still feeling rather rough. It doesn`t help only having one working lung. We just have to keep hoping that all will be alright in the end. They have an additional problem, one of their Siberian huskies has developed a bad limp, but seeing as all the family has to stay isolated, they can`t take him to the vet`s.
I was out there clapping last night, but as we`re an end terraced and my back door is on the side, I couldn`t see anyone else, I heard one lot of clapping from the new estate over the wall, but nothing else. I believe we`re shining torches tonight in memory of those who have died from the virus.
I felt so sad seeing the pictures of the 13 year old`s funeral, his poor family, not being able to attend, his father died last year from cancer, and 2 of his siblings are now showing symptoms of the virus. I feel so angry at this enemy that we can`t see, hear, touch or smell, yet all the time we know it`s there, waiting.
TOYA xx

Cherrycezzy, was in a rush this morning and missed reading your last post for today, thinking of you and hope you are ok. Sending love, take care. ???

soop Fri 03-Apr-20 16:53:55

It is a pleasant end of afternoon - weather-wise. I am about to put all manner of stuff away. I've been painting in watercolour. I'm not a tidy artist. Far from it. I won't shame myself by sharing a photo of my so-called studio. wink

TOYA and looking forward to joining you again tomorrow.

With my very best wishes and virtual hugs. smile moon

soop Fri 03-Apr-20 16:50:16

Our eldest granddaughter, Hannah, is celebrating her 31st birthday today. This is our first encounter.

Galen Fri 03-Apr-20 15:33:43

My dgc adore it. Particularly Griffin aged almost 4

soop Fri 03-Apr-20 15:32:08

Trust you, Galen . Now we all want one. A bodhran, that is.

Galen Fri 03-Apr-20 15:13:06

Smileless are you by me then?
Was it my bodhran you heard

Galen Fri 03-Apr-20 15:12:01

I banged on my bodhran!

Nannytopsy Fri 03-Apr-20 15:04:37

thanks Cherry
We clapped last night and there was saucepan banging going on too!
I didn’t get my slot for delivery OR click and collect. The website has changed and it put me in a queue at 11.45pm. I kept waiting until 00.30am, when I finally got my chance and everything within 20 miles was fully booked. Not impressed, at you can imagine at that time in the morning, particularly as DH was asleep and snoring.
I cut his hair yesterday. All I can say in my defence is that it won’t need doing again for quite a while.

Galen Fri 03-Apr-20 15:03:20

Well I’ve filled in the form they sent me.
When were you last in clinical practice?
Err, 41 years ago.
No place to explain that I’m housebound with no transportation. Well we’ll see if they fit me into one of their slots.
I have worked since but in the field of benefit medicine, ie DWP and HMCTS.

soop Fri 03-Apr-20 14:57:58

Nobody messes with our Galen End of. grin
