Welcome!

What is happening on this thread? You are obviously not taking proper care of yourselves. I gave the screen a rest because I've had problems with my eyes over the last week or so and I come back to news of all sorts of incidents and accidents and unwell-ness. Stop it everyone - we're supposed to be here to just eat, drink and be very merry - no? Soop's rules....remember them ?

Callgirl what a thing to happen. Obviously a true accident but, honestly, I would think you would never imagine that happening to you. Do sincerely hope that you get some good news soon and meanwhile are not in too much pain. flowers Brilliant comment, GrannySomerset - now do you own shares in Superglue or are you perhaps bionic?! The things that can be done in surgery these days - makes one's head spin. Soop after all your efforts in your garden and fun with the results, I'm so sad about your hip pain. Could you be a candidate for glue, do you think, or is it a string and sealing-wax job maybe? Just get better, lady. Kitty please feel lots better soon. Cherry - hope you are feeling loads better from the scourge of tumbling about. You sound, as always, very chirpy. grin

After nearly 2 weeks of problems with my eyes - caused by going to bed really very late and then reading, to fend off nightmares and broken sleep, I have regained the sleep but also have Blepharitis. So difficult to see properly and feeling so rough encouraged DH to go to the Pharmacy this morning and come back with goodies for me. I have tried eye washes, boiled salt water, etc., for days. Today our wonderful Pharmacist gave him not only some lovely eye drops but also antibiotic cream which I have used before, and without a prescription !!!!!! Lovely gesture which will keep me from having to call my Doctor. I'm so grateful and feeling better already.

Charlygirl you must have the patience of a saint and be very laid back. What vile behaviour from your neighbours, it must be like being under siege.

Smileless That Dylan cat, he's hilarious. We sing to our dogs in the shower. They are so well behaved and really enjoy getting clean....but the good behaviour could be because they hope we'll pack in the singing fairly soon. Not thought of that!

DH is pulling huge long grasses out of the side of the drive (courtesy of the 4 days' torrential rain earlier in the week). It's a very warm day. I am in the throes of making a griesetorte, a lovely German cake made with semolina and filled with pears and cream.
Who have you got visiting, Grandmafrench? Nobody, I am clearly just a pig !
I shall send it to the Kitchen when it's cool.
My DS mailed me this morning to say that he has obtained boxes of a hair colour closest to mine which I have been looking for, for weeks. Unobtainable everywhere online and here. My poor Hairdresser will probably be bankrupt before I am allowed to visit her again. Everything still closed He is sending them to me via UPS., so at least a) they will arrive here and b) arrive here whilst I still have enough hair to colour !! What a star he is, I told him. Next week then, I shall cut DH's hair. He will then cut (half) of mine and colour (half) of mine. I shall be responsible for the other half. Hope that the resulting bickering and shouting doesn't interfere with your calm and ordered days, everyone.
OK back to my kitchen and a nice cuppa.
Take care all, especially in view of the list of incidents above.... Keep away from dreaded germs and keep safe and keep smiling. Hugs from France. x

Smileless2012 Sat 25-Apr-20 13:53:40

Charleygirl are you implying that my singing is an "awful noise" shock. Dylan loves it, it makes bath time so much more fungrin.

I know you love the sticky ones soop so made sure there were plentysmile.

Your DGD would be most welcome to assist in Dylan's bath and skin care routine Susan the only requirement is that she appreciates my singinggrin.

soop Sat 25-Apr-20 11:49:48

Galen I bags first tastings. Why should Gary get preferential treatment. Bless. wink

kitty Please do spend more time with us. Remember our motto...the more the merrier. sunshine

Charleyg Those folk who are causing such a disturbance, are inconsiderate, selfish brats. You can tell them I say so. angry

Susan Little Henry has a multitude of well-wishers. We so want him to be well and chuckly and enjoying his little life to the full.

Smileless Danish pastries!!!! Yay! The stickier, the better. grin

corner Us lot trust that you are being extra kind with Mr corner...if not, we may need to rally and give him some special Granspal TLC.

dragonfly I'm pleased that your eye irritation is being dealt with by your GP. He'll help get things sorted. You are right...our GP is also twiddling his thumbs. I imagined that it would be quite the opposite and that people were expected not to ask for medical advice unless they were seriously sick.

soop Sat 25-Apr-20 11:32:32

callgirl1 I've just shared your post with MacSporran...he says that he's sending his best wishes. That was indeed a nasty tumble. I'm so sorry. You hopefully have excellent pain relief while you await whatever decision is made regarding further treatment. flowers

Susan56 Sat 25-Apr-20 10:16:09

Oh callgirl, that sounds awful and very painful.I hope you get the strong painkillers and don’t need an operation?
Kitty,I hope Wolfe is feeling better today and has managed to sleep.
Charley,I pass on all the good wishes for Henry to my daughter, and she tells him what a lucky boy he is having so many people thinking about him,it really cheers her too?
Our immediate neighbours love a barbecue too. They have a gas one and have decided the best place for it is against our boundary wall even though it’s nowhere near where they sit?the smells are awful.Normally just a weekend thing but as they are furloughed it has been a daily occurence?
Smileless, our four year old DGD would love Dylan’s bathing and sunscreen routine. She loves animals and tending to them. She has a very patient Shetland pony who has many hours of loving care lavished on him.
Have a good day everyone and TOYA

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-Apr-20 10:02:42

Smileless poor Dylan, his verbal protestations are telling you he prefers a quiet life thank you and not that awful noise he has to put up with each week.

If I tried to bathe Tara- I would be the one soaked and scratched and she would be almost dry and furious.

GrannySomerset Sat 25-Apr-20 09:41:50

Callgirl - worth researching a procedure called I think vertebraplasty or something like that (too lazy to look for the relevant paperwork) where superglue is injected under pressure to join the two bits of vertebra. Done under sedation and a complete miracle for me after weeks of real agony. If your breaks are suitable worth asking about.

Smileless2012 Sat 25-Apr-20 09:41:01

That sounds nasty callgirl keeping everything crossed that surgery wont be needed and that you're able to keep the pain at bayflowers.

Dylan's bath is a weekly event Charleygirl, it's when sun cream need applying that I have to catch him. He's a good boy when it comes to bath time. His objections are only verbal and I counteract those by singing to him.

My favourite songs are 'I'm going to wash that dirt right off of your skin' and 'It's the most wonderful time of the week. It's time for your bath, you will smell like a baby, your skin will be pink. It's the most wonderful time of the week'.

If I suddenly disappear from the kitchen, it will be because the men in white coats have taken me away.

I hope your neighbours don't spoil your day.

I've left a selection of danish pastries for you all so get stuck in.
I'm not surprised you're frustrated Feelingmyage. I hope you manage to get a delivery slot soon. I get a bit agitated going to Aldi once a week but tell myself to be thankful I can go and don't have the stress of trying to get an on line delivery.

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-Apr-20 09:24:14

I have a slot with Morrisons on the 5th May- I looked idly today to discover there were 5 days all day of slots in that week! How and why is beyond me.

Charleygirl5 Sat 25-Apr-20 08:21:00

callgirl please take it easy and I hope Mia does not wander in and out of your legs when she wants something- usually food. That was a very nasty fall.

Apparently it is going to be another lovely day here so that probably means a BBQ and loud music next door. I am going to be virtuous and do a proper clothes sorting session.

corner I found a fabulous cleaner online- it is spray and forget and it really does work. It may need two applications.

I hope that Henry is slowly improving. He has so many new friends he would be overwhelmed if he knew!
TOYA

kittylester Sat 25-Apr-20 08:02:24

I hope you get away without an op callgirl.

annsixty Sat 25-Apr-20 07:57:42

Just popping in to commiserate with callgirl
I hope you get some pain relief and don’t need an operation.
Hospital is not the place to be at present.
You really need to “take more water with it”?
Have the best day you can everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 25-Apr-20 07:45:25

Oh dear Callgirl please take it easy, hope you hear from Queens soon [flower]

cornergran Sat 25-Apr-20 07:33:18

I’m so sorry callgirl, not what you’d choose for sure. Hope the pain eases soon and there is helpful news from Queens. flowers and a careful hug for you.

I do understand feelingmyage and had a similar withdrawal for a while. I’ll snaffle some of your white wine for later if I may. Talking to a friend yesterday we agreed that these flipping food delivery slots are a huge, unwanted stressor, I hope sleep came and today seems a little brighter. A hug for you too.

It seems to be Saturday again so our job list is banned and we’ll do whatever we feel like. Probably means some garden pottering then a chair in a warm spot and a book for me. Mr C? Who knows but as long as it doesn’t involve anything red I’ll be happy smile

TOYA, stay safe everyone.

dragonfly46 Sat 25-Apr-20 07:32:24

Gosh callgirl that sounds really painful. I hope you feel better soon and don’t need an operation.

Pleased you got your meds kitty. It is really easy to get hold of a doctor at the moment as they are all sitting by their phones!
My doctor thinks my problem is dry eye caused by the chemo and has prescribed drops but I will try antihistamines also just in case. Having no eyelashes doesn’t help of course.

Managed to get flour on Amazon so when it arrives will bring cake!

Feelingmyage55 Sat 25-Apr-20 02:04:24

Yes, it is the middle of the night. I stayed up to try for a delivery slot. To no avail. Now I cannot sleep for frustration. There were lots of click and collect slots but I cannot justify driving 80 miles round trip. I shall keep trying. There is a local shop and I can get some basics but there are still so many items missing. Some lovely photos have cheered me up. The sunny weather is a great boost and keeping me sane. I have stopped reading anything other than the good morning thread and peeping into soop’s safe place here. We are all being tested for one thing or another at the moment, some stretched beyond endurance, and I decided to keep the lowest of profiles. panache your posts always warm me up. Hugs to Henry and TOYA. No flour so some crisp dry white wine and a luscious red on the side.

callgirl1 Sat 25-Apr-20 01:36:40

Phew! It`s taken me AGES to read back over the days that I`ve missed, having been in hospital from Monday until last night. I was daft enough to take a tumble whilst taking out the wheelie bin, and landed flat on my back in the road. After x-rays they decided I`d fractured 2 vertebrae, L3 and L4, so they kept me in. I`ve been allowed home whilst they wait for Queens Medical in Nottingham to decide the way forward, the worst scenario being an operation, which I obviously hope won` t happen. I just need some GOOD painkillers.
My memory doesn`t stretch to commenting on everything, but that puppy is adorable MawB.
My very best wishes to all who are poorly or sad, TOYA xx

Doodle Fri 24-Apr-20 22:09:25

I suppose Gary’s going to get that one too ?

Galen Fri 24-Apr-20 20:55:39

After the success of my lemon drizzle cake, I think I might try to make a Devonshire honey cake this weekend. The only problem is thtit will have to made with N Somerset honey and soft brown sugar gather than dark muscovado sugar.
Can any of you baking types tell me if that’ll be ok?

mbmb Fri 24-Apr-20 20:55:27

kitty as one uti sufferer to another, good for you for getting on the case promptly. Hoping you soon feel some relief.

cornergran Fri 24-Apr-20 20:37:15

Mr C appreciates your kind words charley. Me? Well, he currently has a glass of red wine - yes I did say red. Help grin.

Charleygirl5 Fri 24-Apr-20 18:45:58

Smileless I have totally lost it- does Dylan enjoy his daily bath or do you have to catch the poor young man first? Tara would not know what a bowl of water is.

My neighbours invited their friends around early pm and were playing rap music very loudly and also hammering and banging. Their washing was out and the BBQ had been started. A good job we have strict gun laws in this country because I was tempted.

Theirs is a mid terrace of three and my friends on the other side are both at home attempting to work. They must have been as thrilled as I was.

Poor Mr.C definitely not his fault he was spurting out blood. Little sympathy there for that poor man.
TOYA

kittylester Fri 24-Apr-20 18:23:53

I think I have caught up but let me say TOYA to start in case I get confused.

Babies seem to be being a problem all round. Wolfie had his MMR and has had an extreme reaction which involves staying awake and crying perpetually. He's better now. I hope Henry's medication works well Susan.

Dh has had an awful reaction to pollen this year dragonfly and he is rarely affected. I have a uti, rang the gp at 8, he rang me back at 9 15 and I had a text from the pharmacy to tell me it was ready at about 11.30. Brilliant.

Forgot to say welcome grannyowl - will you bring wine every time?

You really made me smile corner. One of those invisible man outfits might work!!

Lovely photos soop, you are lucky to have those views. I hope your hip eases.

As I said, TOYA. I will try to do better and pop in more often but I do feel a bit as though I have loads of time to accomplish very little in.

soop Fri 24-Apr-20 17:16:10

mbmb What a lovely idea. Teddy bears having a picnic. Joy! grin
