I did get it wrong initially, as I did not do what I always taught my pupils. Stop and think about it, before rushing in.
I love maths puzzles and others did get the answer before me.

Following bodmas you do the multiplication first so 19 x 2 is 38
Then add your 5

My grandson, doing economics at Uni, says it’s 43.
I didn’t realise it was a Scottish puzzle, Marydoll, that’s why I couldn’t do it

You must follow the mathematical rules. it's called BODMAS.
Lots of explanations on line.

This type of puzzle is taught in P7 in Scotland.
If 43 is wrong, Grannmarie and I should have been sacked years ago!
