You can make a good soup using tinned pes. Gently fry a chopped onion, do not brown. Add a shredded lettuce ( use up that tired one in the fridge) and chicken stock (using a stock pot or cube).Cook for a few minutes, add some mint and a tin of peas, liquidise and season to taste.

Put them with a bicycle puncture repair kit . grin

I quite like Edam with Branston pickle. Not that I have bought it for several years.

Oopsminty Wed 01-Apr-20 17:11:28

Mmm, I'll have it!

Toast, sandwich, sauce?

Gemini17892 Wed 01-Apr-20 16:59:57

Thank you Julia and Esspee . I’ll give it a try.

Hetty58 Tue 31-Mar-20 23:53:39

Feed it to the birds - they seem to like any kind of cheese!

Esspee Tue 31-Mar-20 23:39:53

I've used up a tin of peas left in a flat I rent out by adding it to a ham soup. It made a change to dried peas.

In my house no food goes to waste, ever.

That makes all the difference Jane10!

I like cheddar for sandwiches, but for cooking I prefer either white Cheshire or Lancashire, but they`re both getting very hard to get hold of these days

On top of cauliflower and bake in the oven ? I like Edam . Maybe in a sandwich topped with some salami ?

JuliaM Tue 31-Mar-20 22:14:55

Maybe Use your tinned peas up when making soup? Add a selection of other vegetables, a stock cube and seasoning, and blitz the lot in a blender or Soupmaker machine when cooked.

Defy me all you like but I really enjoy my slice of Edam on seeded oatcakes. Yummy. Think I'll just go and have some right now.
Of course they're not just Edam slices, they're M&S Edam slices!

GagaJo Tue 31-Mar-20 22:02:15

It's nice toasted. Let the top go brown.

A cheese I dislike is mild cheddar. Mild. Pah.

Chewbacca Tue 31-Mar-20 21:59:51

Agree with you; Edam cheese is the most tasteless and unpleasant cheese on the market imo. Far prefer a nice bit of stilton blue or extra mature cheddar. I like a cheese that bites me back!

Pea soup Geminil7892?

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:58:26

Not keen on tin peas either.

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:56:52

We are not smokers though we do like curries but I would defy anyone to find any taste in these slices. They are nothing like the wedges that do have flavour albeit mild. I much prefer Stilton or Canadian Cheddar if you can still get it.

Gemini17892 Tue 31-Mar-20 21:55:28

I love Edam. I’ll swap you for a tin of peas. I’ve offered that before because since tidying out the kitchen cupboards I found about 12 tins of peas. Probably bc we don’t eat tinned peas much. Anyone know a good tinned peas recipe ?

EllanVannin Tue 31-Mar-20 21:49:31

I prefer Danish Blue----more flavour. Edam is like rubber.

Jane10 Tue 31-Mar-20 21:40:09

Can I ask if you're smokers or keen curry eaters? I'm not veing offensive or at least not meaning to be its just that I don't find Edam tasteless at all. It has a delicious sort of nutty, creamy flavour that I really enjoy. I don't like spicy, hot flavoured food though. Maybe it's a taste bud thing?

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:34:42

Thanks for all the suggestions. It is obvious that I must add it to a sauce or add ingredients to make it more tasty. I don't mind it in a wedge but these slices are really tasteless. We had it on toast for lunch and it was horrible.Anyone is welcome to it. grin

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 31-Mar-20 20:40:18

Do you have mice? You could use it for mouse traps...

It’s a pity it isnt in a wedge shape, you could use it to prop a door open.

Jane10 Tue 31-Mar-20 20:39:25

I love Edam!
