Just that really. DS got them for me instead of Gouda! Talk about rubbery !

Toast it ?

MerylStreep Tue 31-Mar-20 18:36:15

I've always wondered who bought it ?

CherryCezzy Tue 31-Mar-20 18:36:40

Top of a lasagna?

SueDonim Tue 31-Mar-20 18:37:10

Cheese on toast with lashings of brown sauce? Or feed it to the birds!

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 31-Mar-20 18:39:15

Throw it into a cheese sauce along with some nice tasty Cheddar. It won’t improve it , but it won’t spoil it and at least you won’t be throwing it away.

I could never see the point of it myself either!

Yes, make a cheese sauce
We mustn't waste food now!
Why is this not on the hopeless husbands thread?

wink and dashes off at a rate of knots

Just re-read it - it was your DS

Oh well, sons can do no wrong grin
Say nothing, make a lasagne or a macaroni cheese

I’ll have em love Edam can’t stand Gouda ?

Witzend Tue 31-Mar-20 19:16:56

Toast it with sliced onion, and loads of Worcester sauce once it’s done.

Carillion01 Tue 31-Mar-20 19:17:50

Cheese and ham and pineapple toasties with chopped pineapple and a sprinkle of chilli flakes, Delish

Google 'recipes with edam cheese' and whatever you cook perk the flavour up with mustard, paprika, basalmic vinegar or Worcester sauce.

NotAGran55 Tue 31-Mar-20 19:57:49

I used to eat it years ago on ryvita with salted butter and marmite to give it some flavour.

Urmstongran Tue 31-Mar-20 20:36:57

Funny how it’s better with something ‘to give it flavour’!
And they say American cheese is tasteless.

Seems Edam runs a close second!

Can I have it please. I'm unable to get an online supermarket shop so have no hot dog sausages. I use them as training treats for that spaniel. Edam works well.

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 31-Mar-20 20:38:16

We use cheese slices to give my DDs dog her daily pills, just fold it over and she can’t smell that they are inside.

Jane10 Tue 31-Mar-20 20:39:25

I love Edam!

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 31-Mar-20 20:40:18

Do you have mice? You could use it for mouse traps...

It’s a pity it isnt in a wedge shape, you could use it to prop a door open.

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:34:42

Thanks for all the suggestions. It is obvious that I must add it to a sauce or add ingredients to make it more tasty. I don't mind it in a wedge but these slices are really tasteless. We had it on toast for lunch and it was horrible.Anyone is welcome to it. grin

Jane10 Tue 31-Mar-20 21:40:09

Can I ask if you're smokers or keen curry eaters? I'm not veing offensive or at least not meaning to be its just that I don't find Edam tasteless at all. It has a delicious sort of nutty, creamy flavour that I really enjoy. I don't like spicy, hot flavoured food though. Maybe it's a taste bud thing?

EllanVannin Tue 31-Mar-20 21:49:31

I prefer Danish Blue----more flavour. Edam is like rubber.

Gemini17892 Tue 31-Mar-20 21:55:28

I love Edam. I’ll swap you for a tin of peas. I’ve offered that before because since tidying out the kitchen cupboards I found about 12 tins of peas. Probably bc we don’t eat tinned peas much. Anyone know a good tinned peas recipe ?

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:56:52

We are not smokers though we do like curries but I would defy anyone to find any taste in these slices. They are nothing like the wedges that do have flavour albeit mild. I much prefer Stilton or Canadian Cheddar if you can still get it.

Greenfinch Tue 31-Mar-20 21:58:26

Not keen on tin peas either.
