It is my mother's 94th birthday in a couple of weeks. Her TV doesn't work and she said she didn't mind as long as she had plenty to read but now she can go to the library that they have in the place she is living in so I thought I would send her a couple of books through Amazon. It is not definite that they will arrive or that the home will accept delivery but I thought I would give it a try.
I made a bit of a boob though. She likes murder mysteries and I thought she might like Ann Cleeves so I read up the page and ordered one that said book 1 and the blurb seemed ok. I didn't notice the title though - A Lesson in Dying. Not really a title for someone of her age in the middle of a pandemic but I noticed too late to cancel. I think she'll find it funny if I make a joke of it.
Other than that I'm not ordering anything that isn't essential. I bought some allergy tablets from Amazon. I usually get them in bulk but they had a 2 packet limit. I won a pair of trainers in a competition but I think they should really hold off sending them for now. I won't chase them if they don't arrive.

Car parts, laminate flooring, make up, compost bin, other gardening supplies, fencing etc etc etc.

The one thing I am not getting online is food.

Online grocery shopping has kept me busy! I’ve never done it before but am learning fast from my mistakes.
Also good old amazon for books,foot cream, shampoo,conditioner and washing power.
Have also bought plants from Sutton’s that will be delivered soon. However can’t seem to find anyone to deliver potting compost. HELP

No Polly, I was wondering about it too, as I read somewhere about delivery drivers moaning about the amount of parcels, and felt a bit guilty.

If we are on lock down for a while, at least it keeps us all relatively happy.

I am trying to support local businesses in this way. Like our small garden nursery. They are struggling with deliveries as they don't normally operate that way. They can do phone, order, pay and collect, which I will probably do for my plants.

Pollygran I don't think we can as part of a grocery order, if lucky enough to get a spot. It is essentials only and limited for some items.

But I think we should be giving business to other online companies, to keep them going as they have no customers visiting their shops. Presumably they are still accepting orders so want our business. Some have closed totally of course.

I bought 7 boxes of lino tiles and hubby and I have put them down on kitchen floor. They look great and we needed something to do in this time if isolation. ?

Should we be buying anything that’s not really essential.

I love my online shopping, I cannot get these things locally, or I would. I have been a loyal and faithful customer to organic food suppliers for a long time and have been rewarded by continuing to receive veg plus fruit plus milk weekly deliveries to my doorstep

I am normally housebound anyway so all shopping is on line. Lately I have bought bird seed, plants as birthday present for my son, knickers, books for Kindle as well as food and drink.

Just ordered a full face mask for my son it will arrive on Saturday.

Wish I had gotten a digital piano for christmas.... could not decide on model etc. Now lots of time and free online tuition. I dont do much online as postage rates to here are high or sometimes not available. I did get busy and organise 2 ton of stone chippings just ahead of lockdown.... yes that was delivered! Need to ration its dispersal to top up pathways.... one ton near done now.
