Now people are presenting tv from home we get a look at their homes .
Do they read all those books ? Who chooses a blank background ?
I confess to loving that glimpse of their homes . I shouldn’t be so nosey should I ?

Saw some one interviewed at home the other day, can’t remember who, but behind him was a vase of extremely dead flowers. Couldn’t concentrate on what he was saying because I was transfixed.

Just remembered there was a medical expert being asked for an opinion from which I was distracted by what appeared to be water damage on the side of his ceiling as there looked like a lot of plaster repair on it. Plus only a bare light bulb. Did anyone else see it?

Yes I saw that as well. It fascinated me so much I was unable to concentrate on what he was saying.

When I'm on chat lines, I sit on my staircase which is comfy, convenient and has my essentials - cup of coffee, etc., - about me. This prevents intrusive eyes or horrible tidying up. I'm much too lazy but don't particularly want to share the evidence of that. I fully understand and indulge in natural nosiness myself but I do draw the line at commenting on what I see. I think/ hope Sarah Vine will retain her curtains for many years to come if she so wishes. Some people will actually say the criticisms were only made in fun. Really?

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 13:30:18

Ooh, plantation shutters!
He's the man for me
When can I vote?

I've really gone off my curtains.

Have none of these people got a blank wall or can they not move a sofa to reveal a blank wall?
Or are they competing in 'May the Best House Win'?

My Daughter and Dil both have curtain making businesses, so I’m very interested in curtains.
Yesterday Michael Grove did a link from his home in Front of very nice Curtains.
Also, I can’t help but look in windows when the curtains are open and the lights are on on winter evenings, so I’m nosey but in a nice way

Madmaggie My children say the same about me. I notice all the wrong things. No, I was used to ferreting out detail in my career and it's become a habit to notice things that others may think inconsequential.

My SIL is having to participate in a lot of conference calls with colleagues & students right now. He has the bridge of the starship enterprise as his background ?

Madmaggie Wed 08-Apr-20 12:50:03

Oh yes me too. In fact hubby caught me with my head on one side, eyes screwed up trying to read the book titles ?? he didn't believe me when I said "it can give you an insight". And when Her Majesty addressed the nation recently he was howling with laughter at me, first I noticed her lippy wasn't the usual red and I commented how it suited her then I pointed out the mini red rose plant on her desk & commented that I thought she'd had to replace family photos with a red rose to stop the bickering, then I said the rose would have been better neither red or white because Lancashire & Yorkshire still have friendly rivalry & comments will be made. Hubby said how on earth do you notice all this stuff (he actually said rubbish) - because I'm a woman, it's my job says I. ??

SueDonim Wed 08-Apr-20 12:45:01

Gove’s wife took it all in good part. grin I bet they’ll have new curtains in there by next winter.

Did you see Keir Starmer’s speech the other day? It looked like he was standing in front of his wardrobe doors, although having now seen a photo of his house, I think it might be plantation shutters.

I was too busy having kitchen envy to listen to what Carole Malone was talking about the other night. I think they were looking at the following day's newspapers, but I loved that kitchen! envy

JoyBloggs Wed 08-Apr-20 11:53:53

kitty I saw the IDS bookcase... grin

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 11:36:05

Gompertz
I beg his pardon

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 11:35:41

Ooh, must take a look at Simon Fompertz's kitchen.

I did rather like Alex's kitchen but those who do not get Points West may have missed it.
And her dog ?

CraftyGranny Wed 08-Apr-20 11:27:14

The chap over the road is always out in his front garden whatching what is happening. We call him the Neighbourhood Watch

kittylester Wed 08-Apr-20 11:18:32

I loved Simon Gompertz kitchen! And did anyone spot IDS's incredibly boring and staged bookcase?

Missiseff Wed 08-Apr-20 11:11:43

I'm loving it! grin

Gemini17892 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:57:03

Polnan. It’s that old irregular verb ....? Innit ?

I’m interested in people
You’re inquisitive
He’s nosey?????

PennyWhistle Wed 08-Apr-20 10:51:23

I work in an international organisation so am loving learning how my global colleagues live. They are also fascinated by my studio, which I have had to spring clean following the comments on my hobbies scattered all around ... oops

Smurf44 Wed 08-Apr-20 10:36:24

GabriellaG54 I’m not a Michael Gove fan at the best of times, but after seeing your comments re his Curtains I had to have a look! Following your advice I looked on Google - though that wanted to search “Michael goes curtains!” I agree, they are pretty grim! Someone on twitter has described them as like Stilton Cheese but his wife says they are “very stylish Toile”. ?? Each to his own!

I noticed that there are a lot of book shelves in the background. Find those fascinating as I squint to read titles.

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 10:14:58

They're probably much nicer than they look in that picture Tanjamaltija!!
Thanks for the link
