I read that Boris is a fit man who plays tennis and exercises. He used to cycle around London and jogged regularly until he had problems with his knees, he also lost weight. He apparently gave up alcohol until Brexit was done and has been seen sipping a pint ?

The last few posts seem to illustrate the misunderstanding that can arise on these threads.
I know from reading previous posts from Chestnut that she is a supporter of Boris Johnson, so I understood that her post with the photos was light hearted and well intentioned, just a bit of fun.

In no way was the post "Grans Make Fun of Boris as he Fights For Life"

I do wonder sometimes about the press reading these forums.

The much loathed Mail writing an article. They lift stuff off Mumsnet so it's possible

Grans Make Fun of Boris as he Fights For Life

With a catchier headline of course

POGS - I hope you don't think my picture was in any way attacking Boris! It's the last thing intended. It was just a bit of humour because of the Churchill comments. I was upset when he went into hospital and hope he recovers with no lasting problems. Unlike many on here I have respect for him as our hard-working PM.

As a receptionist at a large company my supervisor once told me ' sit in that chair long enough and you will see things simply repeat themselves and go round in circles'

It just can't be done can it, giving so much as even a day to not to attack a man whose health is so fragile.

Love it*Chestnut*!

SirChenjin Wed 08-Apr-20 16:55:03

The resemblance is uncanny shock

Chestnut Wed 08-Apr-20 16:49:04

MaizieD Johnson has absolutely nothing in common with Churchill...

How can you say that?

SirChenjin Wed 08-Apr-20 16:46:33

Apparently, according to Boris, like Churchill he can drink an “awful lot” at lunch and still work afterwards. Something in common I guess...

tickingbird Wed 08-Apr-20 16:21:04

And there was the Bullingdon Club

Of course Trisher. Automatically follows that he has a drink problem then.

trisher Wed 08-Apr-20 16:10:42

Whitewavemark2 Wed 08-Apr-20 15:58:39

Oh yes I remember that about the Russians.

MaizieD Wed 08-Apr-20 15:56:08

He has been photographed looking rather the worse for wear. Particularly after giving his minder a slip when Foreign Sec. to attend a party given by a Russian oligarch...

Johnson has absolutely nothing in common with Churchill...

Do the Lib-dems have a leader?

grin I don't think they have ever had a member who I would describe as a leader type LOL

GracesGranMK3 Wed 08-Apr-20 15:54:32

He spills red wine on white sofas tickingbird I think that's a problem!!!

Only a cleaning one.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 08-Apr-20 15:53:29

I don't think you can automatically assume that the care Mr Johnson received was not sufficient. As I understand it until someone has had the virus for around the seven-day mark it is not possible to know which way it is going to go as it is only at this point it will or will not begin to affect the lungs. This may change as they understand it more I imagine.

Which makes me wonder what would have happened in WW2 if Churchill had been hospitalised? although I believe he had a bit of a drink problem so maybe he and Boris are similar

Does Boris have a drink problem Trisher? I wasn’t aware of that.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 08-Apr-20 14:23:13

Iam64 Wed 08-Apr-20 14:18:35

Boris Johnson is in intensive care, two weeks into suffering this virus. He is obviously very ill, or he wouldn’t have been admitted to hospital, transferred to IC with 24 hours.
Comments linking Johnson’s admiration for Churchill suggesting they have something in common ‘because Churchill had a bit of a drink problem’ make me despair.

What they had in common was the attempt to be a strong symbol of leadership in unprecedented times. If Mr J survives, and I sincerely hope he does, he will need a period of real convalescence. We need some real consideration to be given to whether a deputy PM should be appointed, someone who can instil more confidence than Mr Raab does . Alternatively, a government of national unity. The LP has a good leader now, the Lib Dem’s not so.

Chestnut Wed 08-Apr-20 14:13:47

There are questions over whether Boris was adequately monitored during isolation. Apparently he was only checked by video link and not physically. If so then I'd say that wasn't good enough. As PM he should have been receiving personal care throughout by a doctor.

Riverwalk Wed 08-Apr-20 13:33:51

The information from Downing Street is very generic, as it should be - the PM deserves privacy, but he would not be in ITU if he were not critically ill.

If he were 'merely' high dependency I'm sure by now we'd have had a Twitter photo with a thumbs-up or similar.

notanan2 Wed 08-Apr-20 13:21:17

I’m hoping that it’s not too serious and that Boris has a sensible doctor who said he’d never rest in Downing Street so he needed to be made to rest in hospital.

Nobody is being admitted to isolation wards or ITU for rest/convalesence

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 13:18:56

Sorry, I should check before I post Whitewave

Callistemon Wed 08-Apr-20 13:18:27

Whirewace
The nurse you mention was on the TV about two weeks ago saying she had the virus. I mentioned it on a thread then and said it was the first time I got really upset.
She just wanted to get better and back to work.

Is she not gettinng better or has she had a relapse? I hope she's going to be all right.

I know I don't know her but I'm upset again
