Signs that standards are seriously slipping.

My standards are seriously on the slippery slope to slobbery.
Just found myself doing a spot of impromptu dusting with a pair of knickers destined for the washing machine.
Why not ?

ReadyMeals Live a little. Who knows, your immune system might delight.

TwiceAsNice
It's liberating to dust with items destined for the wash.
Don't be so uptight. Live a little...??

I did the same with fluffy bedsocks. A flick around the polished chrome pedestal on a kitchen chair/stool. ??

Bobdoesit Mon 13-Apr-20 15:46:23

Done it! Used a sock too usually having dropped it on the way to the washing machine. You should try it they are perfect for skirting boards.

My last post was supposed to be a reply to SueDonim

I hadn't thought of using my knickers for dusting. I halve the effort by putting a sock on each hand, though a pair of knickers on each hand would work just as well. ?

What a great idea, actually. One can butt-dance for some fun, exercise and lose some weight and have spotless furniture all at the same time. I see this as a win-win. grin

Our garage is attached to the house and DH uses it as a workshop. He's got a small-scale steam engine which is kept lovingly polished but recently he needed a new polishing cloth. I was turning out my knicker drawer at the time so handed over a very clean but almost worn out pair for his use. He went off brandishing said knickers (the somewhat matronly kind , in a fetching shade of rather faded peach). The garage door was open to our shared driveway, and our neighbour popped round for some man-to-man chat just as DH started polishng.

I have bought him some mictrofibre cloths now.

I mainly use my knickers as they can dust such a vast area at one time! ?

Llamedos13 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:40:04

I often back out of the bathroom swiping the floor as I go using the damp towel I’ve just used, it’s a great dust picker-upper!

Lin663 Mon 13-Apr-20 14:33:10

OMG! Thank you so much for the laugh!

justwokeup Mon 13-Apr-20 14:05:22

Oh mrswoo, where's a camera when you need one? Hilarious thread - the outraged replies are as funny as the others. DM also used old knickers, first for dishcloths and then floorcloths but, being DM, they were boiled and disinfected first even though they were spotless to start with. You can see I don't take after her! I've never dusted with knickers but standards are def slipping as I haven't touched the vacuum cleaner and the sewing basket has been out for 3 weeks.

Nanna58 Mon 13-Apr-20 13:32:08

Nina Rosa, done exactly the same thing, so don’t backpedal, you are not Alone! ?

grannymy Mon 13-Apr-20 13:19:05

Nanarosa that made me laugh out loud! I think if most of us are honest then we've all done things like that.

nepeta Mon 13-Apr-20 13:18:46

Reminds of me of my Mum. She never wasted anything, so her when knickers were worn out, she would cut off the elastic and crotch and use the remaining cloth as a dish cloth! (She did bleach it)

Grannytwoshoes Mon 13-Apr-20 13:18:23

No! It doesn’t bear thinking about but I’ve done it before with a pile on the way to the laundry basket! No body thought it amusing when I admitted to it! How honest we have become!!

Nightsky2 Mon 13-Apr-20 13:15:55

Why not, at least you’ve done some dusting and no ones going to know except us lot on here and we won’t tell, but open the windows just in case!wink

Patsy429 Mon 13-Apr-20 13:03:10

LOL. so funny. I confess I use my OH's face flannel to wipe things down in the bathroom - but do put it in the wash afterwards. It's never mine!

SueDonim Mon 13-Apr-20 12:56:29

Make sure you only bury natural fibres, ladies, otherwise future archaeologists are going to be puzzling over all the frilly nylon thongs they keep finding in old backyard suburban gardens. grin

TwiceAsNice Mon 13-Apr-20 12:52:56

Sorry I’m with the Yuck group! I damp dust ( dust gets wiped away rather than just recirculating) and the cloth ( which is only used for this) is put on a hot wash with similar things. Can’t imagine using used underwear .

fluttERBY123 Mon 13-Apr-20 12:49:55

That should be off to laundry basket, btw. Reminds me of journalist Katherine Whitehorn. She caused a sensation by saying that she had taken a dirty bra out of the laundry basket to wear because it was cleaner than the one she had on.

SirChenjin Mon 13-Apr-20 12:48:11

That is fantastic Sue! grin I know where I’m going for my afternoon walk now...

fluttERBY123 Mon 13-Apr-20 12:46:40

What a brilliant idea! Of to the laundry basket.

SueDonim Mon 13-Apr-20 12:44:28

Sirchenjin, there is an experiment akin to bugs on underpants that can be done! grin

We could all bury our knickers and compare disintegration times. grin

You’ll be able to use your knickers as a mop if you do grin
