Signs that standards are seriously slipping.

My standards are seriously on the slippery slope to slobbery.
Just found myself doing a spot of impromptu dusting with a pair of knickers destined for the washing machine.
Why not ?

Love it grin

gillybob Sun 12-Apr-20 13:36:16

That made me laugh out loud Ninarosa grin

Lucca Sun 12-Apr-20 13:37:36

Oh yes done that !!

tinaf1 Sun 12-Apr-20 13:42:26

Yep been there too picked them to pop in laundry basket and had a quick swipe round on the way ?

FarNorth Sun 12-Apr-20 13:43:53

Yuck.

tinaf1 Sun 12-Apr-20 13:45:22

hmm

EllanVannin Sun 12-Apr-20 13:47:40

I laughed too grin Love the honesty.

SueDonim Sun 12-Apr-20 13:48:01

Yuk! Are you still wearing them and shining things with your backside? confused

GagaJo Sun 12-Apr-20 13:49:05

I frequently damp wipe with the flannel from grandson's bath before throwing into the laundry hamper. I have panelling in there with a ledge that is a dust catcher. We have wooden stairs so I also utilize the boys bathtime flannel to damp wipe down the stairs on the way down to put a load of washing in.

tinaf1 Sun 12-Apr-20 13:50:55

Now there’s an idea Suedonim ?

Ninarosa Sun 12-Apr-20 14:15:16

Love that idea SueDonim, sadly I'm not that nimble, tho the proportions of my derrière would surely make light work of it.

timetogo2016 Sun 12-Apr-20 14:18:12

I ahve never thought of doing that and tbh i don`t like the thought of wiping my furniture down with dirty drawers.
But it did make me laugh out loud.

timetogo2016 Sun 12-Apr-20 14:18:58

PS ,have not ahve.tut.

When I worked as a chambermaid many years ago we were taught to wipe the bath and washhandbasin dry with one of the towels we were about to change. So next time you use the bath in a hotel make sure to wash it down first before getting in.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 14:26:42

I worked as a chambermaid as a student and I won’t even begin to tell you what we did. When you have 30 rooms to clean in a few hours let’s just say standards do slip.

I did laugh at that Ninarosa grin

Marmight Sun 12-Apr-20 14:27:14

I often do that to the top of a picture frame half way down the stairs although I draw the line at the bannisters ?

GagaJo Sun 12-Apr-20 14:36:51

25Avalon and SirChenjin, I don't know if it's true or not, but I was always told to check the sheets on the bed in a hotel, to make sure they've been changed.

SirChenjin Sun 12-Apr-20 14:38:46

I have to say I always changed the sheets because that was one of the thing that was easy for the head housekeeper to check and for guests to spot smile

Ninarosa Sun 12-Apr-20 14:39:33

timetogo2016. Not the crotch bit obviously. ( she says furiously trying to back-peddle ).

trisher Sun 12-Apr-20 14:46:04

It's not the dust that bothers me, it's the pile of books, papers, wool, crocheting, sewing etc steadily growing beside my seat. By the time lock down finishes they may have to dig me out!

Witzend Sun 12-Apr-20 14:47:45

??
But at least you’ve done some dusting!
Which is more than I have for quite a while. (Where’s the slob emoji?).
I do sometimes wish I was one of those people who actually enjoy cleaning, but there’s always something better to do, like curling up on the sofa with a good book - or at the moment, lying on a sunbed in the garden with a good book! And maybe a nice long G&T, if I can be bothered to go and make one...

Anyone watch the hoarders programmes? I think that is my current aim, to be like one of them.

M0nica Mon 13-Apr-20 09:34:50

Gagajo. I do that with the face flannel, then every few weeks. as well as washing, it gets boiled and bleached, just to be on the safe side.

Liz46 Mon 13-Apr-20 09:40:29

Like Trisher, I have loads of knitting, crocheting etc. on the go. I have a big shopping bag at the side of my chair to stuff it all into.

I've decided to take my lazy self in hand and have started scrubbing everything in the kitchen. The kettle and toaster are looking good so far.

I'm choking on the smell of bleach though as I have given the worktops a good going over.
