Cesar, our gardener has arrived. A ‘non essential’ worker. He’s cutting the grass with the huge petrol mower. It’s lovely to smell cut grass and it’s a gorgeous sunny day now!

We just have to keep on keeping on as we muddle through this surreal life as we know it at the moment TopsyIrene but, we will get there?

Weather not too good in South East today but not raining. A great day to make bread & a banana cake.
I am still cooking far too much & the freezers are groaning but it makes me feel better. When the family can finally get to see us again at least I will have plenty of food to offer!

Cold but brilliant sunshine make the day look positive so must decide to do something constructive to match the weather. Have some new plants to put in but will need to do some serious weeding first. Not sure how keen I am but will be glad about it later in the summer.

Hope we all have a reasonable day. Like most of us, I need something to look forward to, however small.

Good morning from a brightish greyish cold Angus coast. Great excitement in the clan today as DD's achievement of scaling Snowdon by climbing her stairs, for which she has raised £1,290.00 for WAY (Widowed and Young) has been recognised in the local press! It's a sort of tongue-in-cheek excitement but we're all so proud of her. I wish I had her get up and go, but mine left without me long ago. Onward and downward from here today I fear, but hey ho. Have as good a day as you can folks. ???

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. So sunny (not warm but sunny) that we had our tea and toast in the greenhouse which I have converted into a "conservatory" for the duration.
After all we are living beings which need warmth, sustenance and sunlight to thrive!

We are proud of you too Urmston . You always sound so bright and breezy.

Small worries loom large when you are in isolation and I have phoned the council about the gathering pile of rubbish building up beside their deserted buildings next door to us. Danny at the switchboard said he would tell waste management. We'll see. I worry about vermin.

Good morning all from a lovely sunny Glasgow but it’s also chilly.

More window washing today, thankfully not the ones with the sun shining through at this time of day. Stripped the bed yesterday so a sunny breezy day should dry the bed linen already washed and hanging out. I thought of another couple of things to do today but I can’t remember what they were now?

I am knitting with circular needles for the first time and what a difference, no stitches bunched up on the needles. They are bamboo so no clicking which pleases DH when we are sitting watching TV. ?

I remember us talking about your blocked ear Marydoll and thought about you a few weeks ago when my ear was well and truly blocked after the lurgy so many of us suffered in January. I tried all the usual home remedies for two weeks but nothing was working so I read on another thread about ear waxing kits on Amazon and sent for one. A syringe and sachets of saline which you mix in warm water to irrigate the ear. Took two days of irrigating at intervals but I was delighted when it worked so well and finally cleared. Very simple kit to use and full instructions to follow.?

Another day of not doing much, I know everyone is in the same boat, but I do miss my routine.
I will stop whingeing now, and go and find something to interfere with.
Probably in the garden. I shouldn't really, as when I leave it alone, it gets on by itself very well indeed.
DH needs a haircut, so I may have a go with the clippers. I used to do it regularly, but not for a while. Good job he hasn't got much, so I can't mess it up. ?
I am re- reading Sybil Marshall's books about life in the Fens, and enjoying them. It's a good job that at the back of one, she has a glossary to refer to.
I am saving her family saga of 4 novels for later.

Morning everyone. Sunshine, warm and blue here on the Med’.?? But we could be anywhere ... bit like waking up in any hotel anywhere in the world, until you go out to explore, it’s all the same!

Today, laundry, bath the dogs, clean some windows (lots of sand in yesterday’s rain). Such exciting times.....we’ve been told we can’t hope for any fêtes or gatherings until ‘at least’ July...so looks as if our amazing firework gala over the sea on Bastille night will not go ahead. So sad, but staying safe is all and social distancing impossible in a crowd.

BlueSapphire we love it....only 3 more episodes of The Crown to go.......don’t want it to end now.

Fingers crossed your pooch gets to see the Vet today, Scentia. My eyes are sore - too much screen time/reading: need eye test but UK visit impossible and have never tested here (only medical thing I don’t do, prefer to pay in England and use my wonderful Optician there.) Because here , unfortunately, eye tests and shops providing glasses are totally separate. To receive the prescription needed, have to visit an eye specialist first for all tests and there’s usually a 6 month wait for appointments - unless urgently requested by your GP - if you have never been before. Ah well, read less, get on with my chores I think!

Another beautiful start to the day with bright sunshine but it's been perishing cold with it so I've been glad to remain indoors.

Washing was bone dry yesterday as there was a bit more blow than there is today.
Don't know what I'm doing today---or not, we'll have to see.
I find it hard to put my mind to things and thought that by now I should be accustomed to this way of life, maybe soon.

Susan, yes, I'm missing my crumpets ( withdrawal symptoms ) and put up with Marmite on toast----what a come-down. I might go mad and have a bacon buttie
Chicken Korma later, might do chips with it rather than pasta or rice.

D's last day today before furlough as sailings to Belfast are fewer with virtually no foot passengers to " search ", just wagons with food deliveries which the one or two men can manage. She's a supervisor with a security company. Her job is safe, thankfully. At least she can give her full time to the children as well as finishing jobs in the house so plenty to keep her going. I'm so relieved !! GS is still working flat out in the food industry where more workers have been taken on.

I could do with doing a shop and I've been warned about possible queues outside so if I do venture to Asda it'll be later in the day---perhaps. Nothing absolutely desperate but I like to remain stocked up as it's a long time yet before anything will be normal, if ever. It's a routine we all get into and that's where I'm finding it difficult.

Here's hoping that everyone's remaining well and enjoying the gardening jobs if you have this lovely bright weather. Inside can get done when the weather is crummy. I bet we'll get the hottest of summers this year, I can feel it in my water.

Back from my walk, never saw a soul, the sun was shining and there was a refreshing breeze. Quite uplifting.
