Just a thought watching Daily Kitchen Live , references to WW2 as meals using recipes out of cans .
The above although popular as a fritter will it start to get fame, like other cans of Pork Luncheon Meat.

Is Spam really not a thing, then? I have it quite regularly. Sometimes it's the only thing that hits the spot.

As for Corned Beef - another staple surely?

How do you make rissoles or hash without it? smile

I seriously hope not! Spam fritters! My late brother’s favourite but definitely not mine.

I much prefer corned beef hash. Creamy mash, tiny bit of onion and lots of melting butter.

Pleased there are other spam and corned beefeaters as well as me, so many food snobs.......

My American nephew posted a picture of his breakfast...spam pancakes...chunks of spam in a mixture on a griddle! Dear god it looked evil!

DH says he'd love to have spam fritters.
I've never made them but would like to for him.

Any recipe out there? X

I made corned beef hash yesterday, with onions, mushrooms, left over gravy, mashed potatoes and petit pois.

It’s one of my favourites because my mother used to make it.
My partner is always ambivalent about it and then every time, he enjoys it much more than he anticipated.

Corned beef, leek and potato pie is a staple in our house. OH loves it. Greggs corned beef pasties used to be a treat when we stopped at service stations but they seem to have gone down hill.

Have corned beef hash too.

Never seen spam - is it the same as luncheon meat?? Seem to remember luncheon meat sarnies when we were little.

Corned beef hash with buttered spring cabbage. True comfort food. Yum

Love Spam! But buy the Sainsbury's own brand, chopped ham and pork. Makes a good sandwich at lunchtime. Was a treat when I was a child.

We love spam! Sliced cold, with chips, tinned peas and a fried egg! White bread and butter and a pot of tea. Also corned beef is popular now and again. Soften some cubed corned beef in a small frying pan with sliced onions. Beat a few eggs and pour over the beef. Cook until firm and grate mature cheddar on the top and pop under the grill. Serve with a few chips and baked beans. Pure comfort food! Yes I know both of those meals are not especially healthy but every now and again we treat ourselves! We are easily pleased. smile

I used to make corned beef pie many years ago. Son loved it. Corned beef, fried onions and a tin of baked beans. A touch of Worcestershire sauce. Add a raw egg to bind it. use as a pie filling with short crust pastry. My dil made this for my son on his birthday as a surprise.

My husband loves a spam fritter from the chippy!

Witzend Tue 14-Apr-20 21:43:05

We hardly ever had it, but I liked Spam as a child! No beastly fat on it! Fat was one of the very few things I loathed, and still do.
I make a sort of corned beef hash now and then - boiled potatoes cut up and fried with onions, cubed corned beef and lots of chopped, lightly cooked green cabbage mixed in until heated through.
Dh and I both enjoy it.

My DH uses Spam for fishing. We always have a supply in pantry. I did buy some Ulster fry the other day though

Sad, no Spam from Sainsbury's in my order yesterday. Love a Spam sandwich at lunchtime occasionally.

Greasy spam fritters at school dinners, yuck!

TrendyNannie6 Thu 16-Apr-20 17:35:24

No don’t like spam or corned beef

Fiachna50 Thu 16-Apr-20 17:37:36

Spam is fine if you have nothing else.
