Good Morning Wednesday

My 2 older GD’s (14 and 12) are horse mad GrannyGravy and GabriellaG working in the stables (allowed before I get jumped on) is keeping them very busy right now .

My older GD has ridden and competed for some quite prestigious breeders . Looks like the big events will be cancelled this year though.

I would have loved to learn to ride but couldn’t even hold a Shetland on a lead reign . It ran rings round me and stamped on my foot then lay down kicking it’s legs in the air . I’m sure it was laughing at me.

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a bright but cold start to whatever day this is.

It was cold yesterday, just over 4 degrees . I went to “that place” to check all was okay and keep myself right with the alarm/insurance etc. Brought heaps of stuff home that I would have loved to burn rather than face. Spent the rest of the day going through post, writing pleading emails and doing accounts.

Today I will be doing my once a week shop for my dad and picking up some of the heavier stuff for my DD later today. I hate the thought of her having to take the little one into the shops . I will leave the bags outside their doors. I can chat to my dad from the roadside but have to drop and run at my DD’s for fear of little Evie seeing me which would just break my heart.

Feeling increasingly worried that we will never dig ourselves out of this giant financial hole. So much for the government saying they would help people. We have had no income whatsoever for over 6 weeks now and according to my accountant it could be June before any of the promised money comes through which will be too little, too late for many people. Sorry for rant but it’s a huge burden to carry alone .

GabriellaG54 DD first big horse (after a psychotic pony) was an extremely haughty Arab Mare, despite being told that they wouldn't have much success if any at pony club games, showjumping or XCountry, they were very successful in all disciplines and loved ODE competing. We then bought a Friesian X warm blood, jet black (very similar to the Lloyds Bank Horse) so gentle, our GS as soon as he could walk would walk under him, pick out hooves etc. (With a hard hat on always)

Doing well with the weather, it's beautiful. A bedding wash today and get it on the line in this lovely air.

Local shops are doing well here for once, all were stocked up yesterday when I called into the butchers and greengrocers. The area is what I call a " dropping-off " place as there's nowhere to park when visiting the shops which is why people choose the local supermarkets for their parking facilities . The area is normally by-passed..

I'm in walking distance so it's been handy for me under these circumstances. I should stick with them really as there's everything you need without going very far.
I got some lovely Welsh meats yesterday to freeze and today I'll have a mixed grill.

A bit of a disturbed night thinking about GS who'd had the sneezes etc at work. Because it's a food outlet he was told to stay away---fair enough, so he's off for a week and we'll hope for the best. Could be trees/blossoms but nobody's taking any chances. I get worried so couldn't settle to sleep properly. He's rarely off work and they're mad busy but better to be safe.

D has to go into work to attend a meeting, as a furlough has been agreed for her so she'll see what's what. At least she's still got a job to go to which is more than very many now. We really feel for everyone whose lives are full of uncertainty with a huge economic downturn.

Susan, I'm so glad to learn that things are moving to help Henry. It's always worrying when it involves babies who can't tell you their problems. x
Don't wish to rub it in, but I actually got a pkt. of crumpets yesterday so looking forward to a couple of them shortly ;)

Window-cleaning is on the agenda, then if the cats skoot out in the garden I can hoover as well because they're scared of it.

Poor you, Urmston, gazing out at the rain. It's being near the mountains. Never mind, it won't last. Friend and I had that when we holidayed in Northern Spain one time. It'll settle before/ by the end of the month.x

Good morning from Newcastle where it promises to be another warm day.
DH and I are both on Slimming World but I have "virtually" guzzled most of your chocolate stash "marydoll*. I'm actually finding it easier sticking to a diet - although you mustn't call it a diet! - in lockdown as I can't just nip out to the shops whenever hunger strikes and we are managing to plan healthy meals.
My son is a lone parent of two young boys and in some ways it's easier for him not having the other parent for them to play one against the other. In many ways it is really really hard. I worry about them all the time but he is a wonderful father and I am very proud of him.

Morning everyone from warm, blue and windy S of France!
Doing far too much yesterday has certainly lifted my mood. Think we all really need distractions, a small plan and a sunny day. Even without a garden, it’s difficult not to greet the day feeling a bit more positive if there’s a bright sky, nobody needs grey skies and gloom to fuel sadness or apathy. Long may the blue skies stay over the UK - even if it’s a bit chilly. We’ll make good use of this lockdown yet!

DH has returned from his early appointment at the dump. Policewoman with mask and clipboard let him in...place to himself for 10 minutes before the next person was let in as he left. No handshakes and jolly banter. So sad. He now has to make some more appointments before he attacks our last hedge.

We’ve located some real English sausages in our freezer...for lunch today. Very occasionally we buy, to order, from a sausage maker in the region. Totally delicious Cumberland. Plenty of wonderful sausages here but not tasting like that. We have an electric frying pan thingy and we put them in that until they are all brown and sticky.....wonderful. Little things make the day at present. Short of locating a Christmas stash (not a chance) sausages will have to do.

So wish we could buy some plants, over the phone even, from some really good local centres. They are closed but you’d think they’d want to save/sell their stocks! Very slow in their thinking. Once I asked wouldn’t it be great if, like the UK, they had a coffee shop (never said restaurant!) and the cashier nearly burst into tears. ?...........more work for us to struggle with? More income...hire more staff, maybe, I said? No. Couldn’t/wouldn’t grasp such a simple concept. So I shall divide some plants and wait patiently until June, maybe, to fill my empty pots. ☹️

Hope you’ll stay off your feet and out of the garden, NannyTopsy. Picture the weight and all that standing and flexing on your poorly toe. Not good. So please, be kind to it, put up your feet, open a book.... rest...is best !

It's another beautiful morning here in South Yorkshire and is supposed to warm up later, though still chilly at the moment.

Got some more seeds to plant into pots today, plus the potatoes which I have chitted though not sure if I should wait another week or two to be sure the frosts are over - I've never grown potatoes before, so not really sure. They are going into big pots as I haven't room in the garden. Perhaps one of you more expert gardeners could advise me?

Felt a bit down when I got up, but must stir myself out of this mood, it's no good to be miserable. I'll be ok once I get started with my gardening jobs.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. A bright cool start in South Yorkshire. Not sure what today will bring - maybe a short walk later. Yesterday was one of those days when one small job turned into half a dozen larger jobs and I was outside most of the afternoon. We had one of the best curry’s I’ve made in a long time for dinner, and ate the lot. Then I had an hour on the phone (more than a record for me who hates phones) catching up with an old friend. Oh, and I’m beating my brainy DD at online scrabble! How good is that??! Have a safe day folks!

My box of books arrived yesterday and sitting on the porch floor to allow 24 hours before opening. Took six weeks to deliver.
Our meal delivery did not turn up even though they took payment from the bank, very bad form to leave vulnerable people without food.
TV is rubbish at present and we are spending time reading with Classic FM on the radio, the adverts are annoying though.

Good Morning all, another lovely sunny morning , again with a frosty start , I managed to sit outside these last few days , mind you , I had a cardigan and a fleece .
I found the sweat pea starting to peep out of the ground this morning , I did sew some in the plastic greenhouse , but the germination was a bit hit and miss and I might just do direct sewing next year . I love sewing seeds and watching their progress

Good Morning from a sunny day in Fife, it's gorgeous. Just back from doing a shop in Morrisons, got on fine on my own which is fairly unusual for normal, always have DH lagging behind me . Got everything I need I think, time will tell. Have duvet cover and sheets/pillowcases out already from spare room bed I love getting clothes out to dry in this sort of weather. Tbh I feel I've done a day's work already but will have a seat then get on with what is our normal routine for the moment. Got compost yesterday and now just waiting for plants to arrive. Hope everyone is coping well enough, keep you chin up and take care.

GabriellaG54 I envy you being able to go running still and especially going riding today. I love hacking round the lanes as you can see over fences and into houses (brings out the Mrs Nosey in me) I miss the smell of horses (I am shielding for 12 weeks).

Good morning from another bright and beautiful day in East London . I’m going to walk to a park about half an hour away to see the bluebells today . I’ve been suffering from a painful back and hip for the last few days, always scorned the usefulness of ibuprofen gel but used it last night and much improvement ! Of course it could just be coincidence but the walk will either cure or kill !

DD had input from the paediatric registrar,dietician and allergy clinic so a plan has now been decided for Henry so hopefully they will see some progress.The dietician was coordinating everything so took a while.They are relying on photos and emails from my daughter as they don’t want Henry in hospital due to the Coronavirus.
Nothing planned for today,usual gardening,housework and exercise then reading later.
