Sky TV help needed.

The reviews for TVbuddy do not look very good, I had not heard of it so googled.

It depends on what you want to watch as to what you need, Netflix is only £5.99 per month, you can look at what is on there online.

Amazon firestick or Riku between £20-£50 is another option,agin look online to see what is on.

There are probably others but these are all I know about.

I have a BT box but purely for Eurosport channels , but still prefer to watch on normal TV the Freeview channels .
Netflix is an option on the BT remote but would require and extra lead into the back of your modem.

We cancelled our sky but kept the box and dish we then paid £10 a month to sky to keep all the freebie channels and the record and catch up functions etc. We moved house and now have sky q much better than sky + plus the free channels for £15 per month.

We cancelled Sky completely when something went wrong with the box.
We bought a Humax Freesat box when I found a half price deal. We still have the Sky dish and cables so it was an easy job to set it up.
There are no charges, and we have all the channels we need plus all the catch-up services, BBC iPlayer etc.
We pay for Netflix and Anazon prime, itsxworks out much cheaper than what we were paying for Sky TV.

Now TV is probably the answer.

ExD we cancelled our Sky subscription earlier this year also because of price increases. Amazingly (or perhaps not) we were eventually offered exactly the same package as we had before, for a quarter of what we had been paying. The offer went lower and lower with each refusal from us. Eventually the best price was offered in an email the day before our contract ended. Cancel, and then hold your nerve ... you will be as amazed as we were, I'm sure.

That's similar to what happened to us, fevertree,

We had tried to cancel but they offered us 3 months free

Then the box broke and they wanted £200 for a new one so we refused. They reduced the price twice but we still said no.

In the end we got a new box free plus another free 3 months

So they still have us as customers!

What I should have said as regards to Netflix , I have on my Freeview remote a Bush TV a Netflix button ,all needs is HDMI lead from the back of the TV, to my modem for that option to work.

Its comforting to know we're not alone in being fed up with Sky for ever hiking up its prices. I'm hoping our tv set isn't too old to get Freeview - I suppose we should just disconnect everything and see - I wonder where we put the remote that came with the set because we shall need that!
Oooh errr - might need a newer tv.

We have had both Sky and Virgin in the past. We currently have Virgin and can’t wait until June when we can get out of the contract. We took it out when there was a £150 cash back offer on which we never received and we had to go to a great deal of trouble involving a recorded delivery letter to get them to take any action and in the end they reduced the price for 6 months. The Internet signal is terrible, very slow in several rooms, the technician came and said they only measure the speed in the room where the box is situated, if that’s within correct limits there is nothing they can do. We spoke to them about it and they sent boosters which didn’t work, when researching this we found they were only suitable for a limited number of households so we purchased better ones from Amazon. Their customer service is appalling.

Our son and DIL have BT for tv and Internet and a Now TV box for which they buy vouchers every so often. They were recently without Internet and phone for four weeks and BT were appalling at sorting the problem out, many people in their street were affected.

Since we only now watch Freeview channels, Netflix and Amazon Prime we will be looking for a decent Internet provider, we don’t need a land line as we have unlimited phone calls on our mobiles.

Exd you can get Freeview boxes which enable you to record programmes if you want to.
