Delivery charges

I usually get my Tesco delivery for £2.50/£3 but it cost me a fiver today but I’m not complaining I’m just glad I finally got a slot.

I haven't been able to get an Asda delivery slot for about 2 months, despite me having had weekly deliveries for 6 years, for which I've paid a DD of £5 a month. I've now cancelled that DD and I've been joining the (very long) queues.

SalsaQueen I haven’t been able to get a slot either but I keep checking throughout the day and was surprised today when they released some slots at 1pm.

I paid £35 for a 6 month Sainsbury’s delivery pass. Trying to get 1 delivery each week.

Not only delivery charge but Iceland charge for bags as if we have any choice but have goods delivered in bags.

What about local independents?

My butcher delivers free as does the fruit and veg man but his produce is more expensive anyway.

I pay £1.99 a month for an anytime smart pass with Ocado and since emailing them regarding trouble getting delivery slots they have make sure I get a delivery every week. I am disabled with limited mobility.

I’m paying £4.95 per delivery of fruit and veg. They also sell juices, milk, bread, eggs, pasta. I’ve had two orders and they’ve sent me a 10% off voucher. The fruit and veg is wonderfully fresh and if I didn’t have a DH who likes to shop ALL the time, I would definitely stay with this company when (if) the lockdown is lifted.

Our local garden centre has just announced they are starting a delivery service, minimum order £50, plus £6 delivery charge.

Local FB page is not very chuffed, they think the delivery charge should be waived for deliveries in the town, and £50 is a lot also.

Another GC about 15 miles away has a minimum order of £20, and free delivery to our town.

Wonder who will get the most orders?

I have been unable to get delivery from any of the supermarkets finally got one from Morrison's however they only offer a limited range e.g. can only buy onions as part of a mixed veg box no choice of what is in it or only highest end baked beans tomatoes etc. We cancelled local veg box when they doubled delivery charge. Our local home decorating shop delivered paint etc free of charge not essential unless you have a very active DH who I'm struggling to keep entertained in these strange times. It really makes you think who will we continue to support once this is over. I feel like wolfie Smith with his notebook ?

Local farms are delivering free. Have just had a delivery from a local wholesaler but the box was half the size of the first one I had 2 weeks ago. It's still good value but there's another that I am going to try. One thing that's for sure there are some companies that I will never use again, others I will always support. Not just food either.

If we are to continue to expect home deliveries I think we need to accept that you get nothing for nothing.
We are talking about businesses with staff costs, enhanced hygiene procedures, possibly reduced staffing levels through self-isolation or illness and we are being saved the inconvenience and expense of going out for food or goods.
Let’s not apportion blame to anybody for charging for this service.

Local independents where I live are charging £15 delivery for fresh veg box if you can’t collect. I think they should be grateful they are selling the produce instead of it rotting.

Our local garden centre is delivering free for orders over £25. Another has £35 min order and 4:95 delivery.

I can’t get a Waitrose delivery - placed my order 4 weeks ago, despite Waitrose saying they have contacted all their over-70 card holders. I have not been contacted and I am 75.

I am prepared to pay for delivery if I could only get one!

Getting a slot at Tesco is impossible; that is until you start an order (the reverse of normal) then I got an early slot with their click and collect. Costed at 50p but when collected the 50p was not included!

Our local farm shop is closed to customers but is still doing deliveries - for free. Milkman is still doing his round (free delivery!) as well.

I am having everything delivered and will gladly pay delivery costs to the people who are prepared to help us oldies out. They are working above and beyond to keep us safe and We will always be grateful.

Many of the local traders in our little town aren’t charging at all for deliveries whilst the crisis is on. I ordered a box of fruit and veg last week from the local greengrocer and he delivered it with a smile ( at a safe distance) I’d ordered some raspberries which he forgot to bring and I said not to worry , they’d do another time. At 7.40 pm there was a ring on the doorbell and a box of raspberries sitting on the doorstep. These enterprising people who are going the extra mile deserve our support.

I am 75 and disabled and have shopped, with a delivery pass, for years with Sainsburys and usually get everything I want. I feel let down by Sainsburys for the first few weeks of lockdown and now often get one slot a week but only get half to two thirds of what I want. So I have topped up with Waitrose once but their minimum shop is £60 and tomorrow I have a Tescos delivery which I had to book nearly 2 weeks ahead and the delivery fee is £7.

I hope when this is all over and there is the social and political autopsy we will all learn who made money out of the pandemic.

I've discovered our local Asda releases the delivery slots at 10pm for in a fortnights time. Worth a late night internet trawl if you are struggling for a slot. I'm still able enough to go and queue but I have relatives who can't

Mine from Sainsbury's was just over £4 (I think £4.25). I think I hit the site just when the days slots went up as the whole day was available so I got one of the cheaper ones but they did go up to nearly £7.
I got it at 6.20am after several days of trying at least once an hour for several days. I was also trying Waitrose but had no luck with them. I think that our local Sainsburys is doing a really good job although it does take time and persistence.

We have a fruit and veg market stall which delivers free and you can choose what you buy.
