Good Morning Everyone,
Its a wet and grey start here in Brackley this morning.
Its getting meals prepared later in slow cooker for Sunday ,another curry but different to what I normally do.
Sometime back when In Buckingham, I went into the health food shop and got a tin Dhal with Fava Beans (Broad) , the cans says you can mix with water and make a soup , but will add contents to chicken and chicken stock and other bits ,do a taster later to see if its OK, then reheat tomorrow .
I have started to feel the effects of 4 weeks lockdown, I had an email from someone this morning, who is over in the States ,and having told her about the UK restrictions , things under Donald Trump are a little more relaxed a to the virus, she can visit her sons quite freely, but would like to get back to the UK.
Mick

Hope Saturday is kind to us all. Especially for the gillybobs. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

P.s. your cat who needs stroking made me laugh NannyTopsy! And dragonfly how upsetting for you all regards Dexter. I hope the vet can save his eye. This must be so distressing for you every time you look at the poor dog.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Dreary but dry in South Yorkshire at the moment. An “in” day today; we had a good walk yesterday. I have an indecent pile of ironing to do, and will also ring the local garden centre, which has now started doing deliveries, to find out whether we fall within their delivery limit. Fingers crossed. Shepherds pie for supper. Have a good safe day folks.

Good morning Mick from a very wet and chilly Oxfordshire, all plans for the garden are on hold today, but we have a zoom party tonight for DHs pal , we should have been away for a large birthday weekend but we will see everyone tonight in the computer.
DD in Cornwall is ill with stomach bug and DD2 is also in bed with a kidney infection and I’m sitting here fretting that I can’t go and see either of them.
However DH managed to find a click and collect tomorrow lunch time so we are excited about going out of the village for the first time in weeks, just a few phone calls to make to see if anyone needs any food to add to my online list.

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s white cloud (again). I’m not sure whether to strip the beds or not. Yesterday was like this until late afternoon then we had the most glorious warm sunshine. You know the kind, around 5pm, often my favourite time of day out here, when the sun is less fierce but sitting in it is so relaxing, like bathing in a warm bath.

I made a gourmet dinner last night too Marydoll - ‘panfried’ (as they say nowadays) fat steaks with fried onions, grilled tomatoes, peas, pepper sauce (packet) and CHIPS done in a huge frying pan, just how my friend’s Irish mother used to make them for us when we were kids! Bluddy gorgeous. Just before we sat down to ear Himself noticed I’d let the peas bubble over in the microwave into a puddle (again, I admit). Tut-tut. I told him to stop nit picking and sit down to enjoy this feast. Men, sometimes eh? Glass half full comes to mind. He can moan... I do call him Victor (Meldrew) sometimes!

This poster in Spanish then English was put up next to the lift doors yesterday afternoon. Spain is allowing some people back to work. Entrepreneurs indeed, advertising in our building! Good luck to them. I love the translation in parts!

Hope

BTW, Conor mentioning Zoom reminded me of this last night.

Good morning from a cloudy, overcast Essex. Went for my daily walk yesterday as hadn't done it for a few days and I didn't want to forget how to! Then checked my car to find a very flat battery. Would normally have rung my mechanic but realised that I was going nowhere anytime soon so will deal with it when this is over!
Had a message to say my friend's husband in hospital with Covid 19 is no longer stable. In normal times we would have all rushed to be with her but she is sitting at home alone waiting for news.
Think I wiil make some tea and have an indoor day today. Family are organising a Zoom quiz tonight so not sure how it will work. I have to think up a name for my solo "team"!!!
I hope everyone can have the best day they can in these uncertain times xxxx

Hello everyone from an overcast south Cornwall. I'm still in bed in my quirky flat above a shop in a town centre, delivery lorries passing by at the front, a swathe of woodland at the back where I've seen stick insects and slow worms and fascinating fungi. But not at the moment because I am still snuggled under my new soft down duvet watching the antics of the gulls on the rooftops. Must get up and make a coffee. Must. Now! But too cosy. Sorry for those with problems and sad times and sending virtual hugs.

??
Wishing all GNers a very good morning from damp misty grey Godalming.
Virtually no noise except birds occasionally clearing their throats.
Well, it looks as if the w/e will be a washout but I'm sure we'll all find things to occupy us ????️??
A stinging hot shower after my morning run soon dispelled the gloom outside and now breaskfast. Cereal, cooked or croissants fruit and cheese. I think an omelette with mushrooms and grilled tomatoes will do the trick after which a couple of family phone calls then waiting in for Yodel to deliver.
I left out a snack for him on Wednesday, crisps, a choc cake bar and bottle of apple juice and he was really delighted. "For me?" he shouted, "can I take them?".
"Yes" I shouted back, "it says Yodel driver on the note... that's you". As it was a very warm day he welcomed the drink which had been in the fridge.
I'll do another snack today, it's nice making people smile.
As I've lots of veg I'll make a casserole for dinner later and a loaf (packet mix) in the bread maker.
I weigh myself daily to make sure I run off what I eat. Today I was 70kg a small loss.
Right...better get going on brekkie.
I'm sure you'll make the best of your day as GNers seem so inventive - Ginny42s scones with home-made jam sound a nice treat ?
Best wishes to all???????

Good Morning Mick and all from a dry overcast S Welsh coast. It rained yesterday afternoon and overnight, so I didn't go for a walk. Good to hear from you annsixty.
Poor Dexter dragonfly, I hope that the vet will help him on Monday and that Dexter will have an easier time over the weekend, you too.

Hope everyone will have a good a day as they can.

Good morning from dull windy Kent. It looks like it will rain.
DH is already out at the supermarket as I have a prescription to collect from the in store pharmacy.
I don't know what his plans are for the rest of the day. He spent most of yesterday in his workshop.
Chin up everyone, have the best day you can.

Marydoll Sat 18-Apr-20 08:08:25

Ann, I'm so glad to see you posting. I hope you manage to get through today. flowers.

Gingster Sat 18-Apr-20 08:06:29

Thanks dragonfly ?

annsixty Sat 18-Apr-20 08:05:46

Good morning all and especially thankyou to Marydoll for " missing me"
I have been having a reflective few days, most of April actually.
It is a year today since my husband died. I have been half dreading and half wanting it here so that all the anniversaries have passed.
I have woken to a day like any other, so thankful that he isn't suffering his dementia and in lockdown wondering where I am.
I hope you all have as good a day as you can.

Nannatwiglet Sat 18-Apr-20 08:03:29

Good morning everyone...It rained overnight in West Yorkshire, but it’s looking bright this a m.
Things to do today...
1)Try and get a slot for some supermarket shopping...why is it so difficult?( Kind neighbours have been so helpful recently....)
2)Video call DD as 3yr old GD learning to ride a bike (took me 35 years to learn to ride one!)
3)Skype 4 college friends from the 60/70s...(yes, we still find things to chat about!)
Have a good weekend everybody! I wish you well...

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton. Rather pleased really as the garden needs it.

Nothing much to report. Had a long phone call with one of my sisters, whose birthday it was yesterday. She seems to be ok, and had had lots of presents through the post or left on her doorstep. Needless to say, my card hadn't arrived!

More of the same routine today, but think I might put a film on this afternoon.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

Good morning from a dull and quite cold Cheshire, so different from the lovely sunny mornings of late. Made a start on jetwashing the drive yesterday; what a job, 4 hours and I have only done a third of it! It's not that it's particularly big, but because it's block paved there is moss inbetween each block, so I have to scrape that out first, which is so time-consuming. I was absolutely filthy when I had finished. As himself won't be working from home today, he can have a go at it, my poor back needs a rest!

Had a facetime call with the DGC yesterday, things have changed already - little 2 year old DGS has just sprouted (at last!) loads of hair and has a great big curl that sticks up where his fringe would be - he looks so much older! His older sister seems so grown up too; it's only been a few weeks since we saw them, but they've changed already. Hope after this further 3 week isolation, we can get to see them, but I don't think we will, I think it may be even longer before things relax.

Hope Gillybob has a better day today, she's really been put through the mill lately.

Dragonfly poor Dexter, they hate those lampshade collars, we managed to get a soft material one from the vets, which was much more comfortable. Hope they manage to save his eye, poor love.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Good morning from Worcs. the usual view from windows of Malvern Hills is obscured by murky cloud so I fear the rain will continue for a while yet. Yesterday I made a Pizza, encouraged by eldest daughter who urged “It’s easy Mum”. So I thought I’d get down with the kids and rise to the challenge. It was pleasing to swing the dough round my hands like Gino D’Campo does (well he does it better of course). I scoured the fridge and the concoction I loaded on the pizza was: spicy tomato sauce, ratatouille veg bagged in the freezer, mushroom slices, and ham. Scattered grated cheddar over the top and some basil leaves. Voila, 10 mins later tucked into a very decent pizza. Roll over Domino’s! Have a happy Saturday everyone.

Good morning all from a dull mid-Notts. We had rain overnight and it looks like we are about to have more. We did manage the barbie yesterday but ate inside as there was a chilly wind blowing - still tasted good though!! I was worried yesterday about our dear old cat. He's around 19 although you wouldn't think it to see him - a very charming boy. He just seemed really off and hid behind one of the sofas all day - so very unlike him. But he's shaken off whatever it was and he's back to his usual sociable self this morning - thank goodness. Sitting on my lap purring away smile. Stay safe everyone and may Saturday be kind to us all x

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow.

Just waiting for DD to come with an early morning Click and Collect she managed to secure from Tesco. Between that and the Iceland frozen delivery we got last night, we should be fine. I always cooked from scratch, but DH is enjoying almost gourmet style meals, as I have all the time in the world to cook. grin.
My neighbours were delighted with the Iceland delivery, as I had ordered items for them. One neighbour was craving brussel sprouts! confused ?

My friend was telling me yesterday that the police were going down the Morrisons queue, asking people where they came from and fined a woman £40 because she lived in our town and hadn't gone to the local Asda. thought it was unreasonable, as most of shop in Morrisons, which is only ten minutes away and the Asda in our town is the same distance, but is very small and people don't follow the distancing rules.
We all shop in Morrison's, because it has a petrol station etc and is huge.

I'm having a chilling day, yesterday seemed to fly by. I cooked and baked and wasted spent a lot of time with nothing to show for it.
I did make chocolate macaroon bars, so my neighbours will have something for their morning coffee. DH, ever the perfectionist, complained there wasn't enough vanilla essence. Doesn't he realise this is a time of rationing, we all have to make sacrifices and I'm sacrificing his vanilla essence. grin

(((Hug))) for all who have worries and are unwell, especially our Gilly.
She does know, you all care for her.
Could I also say Good Morning to Brunette, who always posted. After a rotten time on a thread she started, she has decided not to post on GN. A nicer lady, you couldn't meet. Hopefully she will come back to the safe haven of the Good Morning, thread, where kindness abounds.
I also notice, Annsixty, hasn't been about, I hope she is OK.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. It is wet and windy here. My leg is easing quite a bit now and I can hobble about a bit today, I will try my bike later with the dog so she can at least get out the house for a bit. We will see if I can manage it!!!

Hope everyone has the best day possible under their individual circumstances. Take care and stay safe❤️
Dexter ?

Gingster Sat 18-Apr-20 07:39:52
