What plans do people have for after lockdown? Priority for me is to see my 15 month old granddaughter and three month old baby granddaughter. I feel I have missed so much. Also, plan to visit the garden centre for summer plants for baskets, pub meal and last, but not least, have a haircut!

In the meantime I still have to work as I am part of the admin team for a GP surgery now three days a week. Just had a two week break as other had the virus and I was told to stay at home.

I’ll be off abroad to work somewhere. Short term, it’s Switzerland. Long term it was going to be China, but I’ve also applied for a great job in South Korea and possibly one in Cambodia too.

Pub meal with a sundae all to myself.

1. Haircut
2. Visit DGS - 6m old and at the other end of the country (seeing his parents and also DS, who lives near them, included, of course)
Anything else can wait

We are having a family get together, AC, GC, in laws and extended family......just working out who is going to host!

Can't plan as far as that. It's just one day at the time for me. Sorry to sound so negative.

BlueSky Sat 18-Apr-20 12:26:37

Wow GagaJo!

NanaandGrampy Sat 18-Apr-20 12:29:28

Huge family party as ours !! Everyone from 3 countries , kids, grandkids and pets ?

Then we’re going to try to reschedule a long awaited since cancellation holiday just to spend time together .

GagaJo Sat 18-Apr-20 13:15:39

It's not as impressive as it sounds, Blue Sky. I can't retire until I'm 67 but no one will hire over 50s teachers in the uk. So it's needs must.

I'm going to enjoy the experiences though.

BlueSky Sat 18-Apr-20 13:31:57

That's the way GagaJo!

I would like to buy the electric wheelchair which I had decided
to buy in the Spring, but washing it all down doesn’t appeal
to me .

To see my children and grandchild.
Hopefully to drive to Prague and see our youngest son.?

I’m looking forward to being able to get out more to National Trust properties, go to the coast, enjoy going to the supermarket ? pick up hobbies, not be restricted in what I do but, most of all, see my daughter again! FaceTime, although a wonderful thing, is not the same as seeing her. On the plus side, I’ve retired early as my retirement has been brought forward by 4 months due to the virus.

A haircut
Eyebrows threaded
A meal in a restaurant or anywhere not cooked by myself.
Walking through my local town and popping into shops as I fancy.
A simple soul really

After lockdown I will need to adjust to everyone just being free and life will be busy again schools will open, shops will go back to normal the world will have "noise" again it just makes me realize what I and us as a nation can take for granted.
What's the saying "You don't miss something until it's gone"

Well of course to see children and grandchildren, other members of the family and close friends.

Hairdressers, I'd like to re book the appointment that was cancelled due to the shut down.

To have a lovely cleaner come back, my husband has been paying her during her absence, he misses her more than I do having hired her, to take over the heavy duty housework such as cleaning the showers which he is back to doing now blush I lack elbow grease apparently! Food shopping and cooking is my domain, he doesn't do any of that stuff. Each to their own!

Like Oscar's post above, visiting NT properties we pay our membership every year and don't use it nearly enough.

Library, if for no other reason than to return very overdue books and audio books, like everything else libraries shut very suddenly.

Having said all that I think social distancing will carry on, so not sure about meeting friends for coffee or a meal, going to restaurants which we did fairly frequently, cinema, dentist appointment, or hairdresser for that matter, going back to the gym. Well aware at the same time all these businesses desperately need the public to support them.

My husband is raring to get back to his golf which he tells me won't be a problem as he and his fellow golfers had already implemented safe distancing, no hand shaking.

We have short breaks booked for June, July in the UK and a holiday in Portugal booked for September. Really don't know whether we would feel safe doing any of those things, particularly the contact involved at the airport and on the plane.

My gut feeling is that for the immediate future, even when shops, restaurants, gyms, churches and other places of worship open themselves up, will life return to what it was, I doubt it!

I want to see my children and grandchildren as a priority but I think I am still going to be wary of being out and about for quite a while when lockdown is over.
Covid will still be lingering around.

Callistemon Sat 18-Apr-20 14:57:49

It could depend on whether or not travel restrictions continue to be imposed. Australia is at present thinking of extending flight bans up to 2021.

Have you heard anything about flight restrictions to Cambodia or S Korea, Gagajo?
Some places eg Australia or New Zealand cannot be reached without transiting en route.

Callistemon Sat 18-Apr-20 14:59:37

I have a dental appointment to look forward to and need to get an eye test!
And I need big hugs from the DGC.

Snap AGA4 I don't feel that things will go back to normal for a long time unfortunately ?

Callistemon Sat 18-Apr-20 15:00:29

I won't be rushing either AGA4

I agree take it day by day. Too stressful.

travelsafar Sun 19-Apr-20 09:22:43

Hairdressser, chiropodist and hopefully my dental appointment which is booked for June. I will visit Family and meet up with friends, hopefully go back to life as it was before, but somehow i doubt that none of the above will happen as quickly as we would like...... if eversad

Willow500 Sun 19-Apr-20 09:29:19

We're not planning anything - I don't think even when lockdown is over we'll be rushing out and mixing with people again as we'll still be vulnerable. I am looking forward to driving my new car though - I got it the week before lockdown started and have only been out in it twice since sad

Humbertbear Sun 19-Apr-20 09:36:54

How far ahead are you all planning? According to The Sunday Times this morning, over 70s and the vulnerable will be asked to stay at home for another year. We already feel we are drifting apart from our grandchildren and can’t imagine how this will affect our relationship with them long term (and yes, we do FaceTime). We also fear that we may never see some of our friends face to face again. As for my hair and teeth ..........
