I've discovered my "default" setting.......

And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

DH offered but I would rather have the Dulux dog look than let him near me with scissors.

gulligranny Tue 12-May-20 19:41:07

Phoenix, I dread the thought of Mr. G offering to cut my hair! (a) he'd get out one of his many spirit levels (b) he'd debate for hours about the scissors he ought to use and (c) he has macular degeneration so the Lord only knows what it would look like.

And then afterwards there would be no excuse not to get the vacuum cleaner out, something I've been strenuously resisting...

phoenix Tue 12-May-20 15:08:39

Oh gulligranny if only! (Sigh)

Mr P has offered to cut my hair shock I have ordered some hairbands, wouldn't like to put him to any trouble wink

Marmight funnily enough, Mr P mentioned corned beef hash only yesterday, I pretended not to hear blush Reading about your experience, I don't think I'll bother grin

granfromafar Tue 12-May-20 15:01:27

Have cut DH's hair this morning (second time in 2 months) so having a sit-down to recover before this evening's online choir session. Can't persuade him to do mine so keep blow-drying it into submission.

gulligranny Tue 12-May-20 14:26:48

Sorry Phoenix, only just seen your post. And yes, I'd love to iron your bedlinen, it's my favourite part of ironing - smoothing out the fabric, getting rid of the creases, knowing that it will feel delicious against my skin when I slide into bed ... Courier it round straight away, and I'm on it.

Marmight Mon 11-May-20 04:43:03

Corned beef hash may be the answer. I made some a couple of weeks ago. It was so disgusting, I had to lob it. Might work on Mr P then you could donate the other 3 tins to a food bank?

phoenix Sun 10-May-20 18:15:51

Funny you should ask that, Marmight, he is rather fond of it...........

gulligranny I too love a nice clean bed. Would you like to iron my Egyptian cotton bed linen, just to make my fresh bed experience even better?

gulligranny Sun 10-May-20 18:02:30

I've done a lot of washing, I just love to see it blowing in the fresh air. Ditto ironing, I like that, and I love a nice clean bed. Cooking, yes I like doing that too, so we've had good meals and plenty of cake. Everything else - nah.

Marmight Sun 10-May-20 17:08:20

Does Mr P like corned beef?

phoenix Sun 10-May-20 16:08:34

Oh, AJKW there's always one! grin Please, stop putting some of us to shame!

Maw I haven't even done my knicker drawer, and really should do another freezer inventory, especially in light of Mr P's rather "random" shopping habits. confused

In the cupboard we seem to have 4 tins of corned beef. I don't like corned beef.

MawB Sun 10-May-20 15:57:36

I know what you mean - 1x knickers drawer and the freezer so that I could stockpile useless stuff that I have no desire to eat. I did think (worst case scenario) of looking out the copy of my will and putting it with the life insurance papers, but CBA

Marmight Sun 10-May-20 15:45:45

Blinko, that’s once more than me ?

Blinko Sun 10-May-20 14:33:39

I've cleaned the house just twice - in seven weeks. Can't wait for my cleaning lady to come back. For one thing, we like to chat and enjoy a cuppa together.

I have changed the bed linen more often though. I love clean sheets. I would do them every sunny day... sunshine

AJKW Sun 10-May-20 14:28:26

I’m the complete opposite, I don’t know how to relax. I get up in the morning and may not sit down until I go to bed in the evening. I’m always ready for a just in case scenario, it can be exhausting. If something needs doing just ask me and without question it will be done. I think I make a great employee !!! But I think I would like to be more laid back like you.

Marmight Fri 24-Apr-20 22:41:13

Sorry ?. Suitably admonished; will try harder tomorrow

SueDonim Fri 24-Apr-20 21:45:52

Off to the naughty step with you, Marmight! Can’t have that sort of rule-breaking going on. grin

Marmight Fri 24-Apr-20 20:40:42

On overdrive today. Sorted 2 hanging baskets. Cut the grass. Pulled some rhubarb from a neighbour’s garden, planted a rather pretty pink plant (?) donated by another neighbour and sat in the garden In between each event, culminating in 2 very large G&Ts as a reward for my exertions. Thank heavens it’s the weekend & I can have a rest ?

SueDonim Fri 24-Apr-20 20:15:52

I posted a letter too! That’s two tasks today. Luckily I was able to recuperate while Dh made my tea, too. grin

Maggiemaybe Fri 24-Apr-20 18:00:18

Oh snap, SueDonim. I’ve been for a walk and posted a letter. My DH is making tea now while I recover.

SueDonim Fri 24-Apr-20 17:47:29

I’ve been for a walk. shock Am off to lie down in a darkened room now.

Jane10 Fri 24-Apr-20 14:54:26

I'm obviously genetically predisposed to watch TV. I'm doomed.

Marmight Fri 24-Apr-20 12:08:53

If I’d cut my hair I’d have to sit in a darkened room - for at least a month grin

Missedout Fri 24-Apr-20 12:06:25

I'm afraid I defied my resistance to anything remotely like physical work yesterday - I cut my own hair. The subsequent clearing up of clippings seemed far too much like real housework (sorry for using profane language on this thread). I feel exhausted.

Can't decide whether or not to go and lie in a darkened room!

A group of five friends who attend the same gym and have lunch once a month and are generally there for each other have been doing a once a week email, keeping in touch. This week the fittest and slimmest of us was proud to say that because she was afraid of drinking too much during this lock-down she was now drinking less and with all the vigorous walking she had done, she now hadthe extra bonus of having lost weight as well. Rather ungraciously, I notice that none of the other four of us have commented on this. A lovely person, who does not need to lose a single pound and she actually loses weight. Why are we not thrilled for her? What does that say about the rest of us?

SueDonim Thu 23-Apr-20 18:54:22

Pamelaj1 I’m taking that article seriously, I’ve just moved more, by shifting from one sofa to the other! grin
