I've discovered my "default" setting.......

And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

Join the club ? and I find myself gazing into the fridge , carefully avoiding the fat free yogurts , and stagger back to my chair clutching the chocolate stashed at the back !

Eglantine21 Mon 20-Apr-20 15:47:56

And here I am - on the sofa.........

52bright Mon 20-Apr-20 15:54:16

I have found my tribe. I have whole sets of messy drawers needing sorting as well as a spare room with full book shelves and no room to store as much as an extra plastic pocket grin Oh well ...much too late to start today ...that's what I said yesterday grin Tomorrow's another day and another opportunity to sit and think of everything that needs doing smile

You need to reframe this phoenix These are unprecedented times. When will we ever again be in the situation where we can be so self-congratulatory about being relaxed and still?
I did have trouble with your abbreviation though. Racked my brains and eventually gave up, thinking "Oh I can't be ..... aha!"
So that's todays mental workout sorted.

Surprising how quickly the days go by when you do not a lot of anything.
My list of jobs for the lockdown is not shrinking and I don't even care.
As the song goes "I'm busy doing nothing
Working the whole day through
Trying to find lots of things
Not to do"

Pittcity Mon 20-Apr-20 16:08:22

Sitting on the sofa is saving lives!

Urmstongran Mon 20-Apr-20 16:19:06

Can I join the gang?

Honestly I read some threads ‘I’m making bread’ and think - oh no!

CherryCezzy Mon 20-Apr-20 16:19:48

Nicely put Pittcity! I started off well....
Those messy drawers are just ... fooooh. Same with the wardrobe.
I did do the washing today and the 2nd lot is more than likely dry.
I've spent the rest of my time sitting in the garden. Well that means I am keeping myself healthy doesn't it, topping up on vitamin D.?

skunkhair63 Mon 20-Apr-20 16:21:23

Our messy spare room is still a tip. As for the garage, well I thought it was going to work that meant we never found time to sort out all the stuff in there. After 3 weeks at home, I realise that was not the reason ... wink

Oldbutstilluseful Mon 20-Apr-20 16:25:12

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only lazy one. I’m working hard at my extreme sitting exercise! Will it be a new sport? ?

GrandmasueUK Mon 20-Apr-20 16:30:08

I have washed, dried (in the sunshine) and steam pressed the entire contents of my linen box over the past few days and evenings while watching TV. They are in a beautiful pile in the living room (where they have been for two days). I need to sort them into pillowcases, duvet covers and sheets. I will get round to it soon when I have the time but I have been so happy looking at how neat they are! grin. I haven't had time to wash the skirting boards or dust yet!

AGAA4 Mon 20-Apr-20 16:33:39

Pittcity. Thank you! I feel that I am doing something even when I am doing nothing!

Callistemon Mon 20-Apr-20 16:51:40

I started off OK in about January after I recovered from a nasty virus (a different one, I assume) but since then have found the slow lane.

Sorted out the spare room, new curtains for there and our room, started sorting out the kitchen cupboards, my wardrobe etc.
Then came own gently to cruising speed.

CherryCezzy Mon 20-Apr-20 16:51:45

Urmstongran I have done a bit of baking on top of the normal day to day cooking but that's only because I enjoy it like a mini hobby.

Callistemon Mon 20-Apr-20 16:52:05

Down

SueDonim Mon 20-Apr-20 17:01:17

Budge up on that sofa, I want to join you!

Our fridge freezer broke last week and a new one was delivered. I was positively affronted that I had to clear out the old one, move it and then install the new one and replace the salvaged food. That cut into good sofa-sitting time!

grandMattie Mon 20-Apr-20 17:03:19

Oh Phoenix how reassuring! I am finding motivation so hard; I have never been a great sorter out, cleaner or beauty routine person...

Bellanonna Mon 20-Apr-20 17:18:11

At the beginning of lockdown I was happily making mental lists of my lovely organised days , just a bit worried that I’d end up with nothing to do. Well I really needn’t have worried. I’ve done very little indeed, all the drawers still need sorting,
The “deep cleaning” is still a pipe dream and although I started the weeding there’s still a lot more to do. I did start doing online pilates and aerobics each day but I’ve cut down on that now as I get tired after 15 minutes. However did I
manage to keep going for an hour in a class? I think it is just knowing that there’s plenty of time to deal with these things thst doesn’t motivate me to start them. I’m relieved to know I’m not alone.

morethan2 Mon 20-Apr-20 17:36:32

I thought I was just completely useless and lazy. I’m so relieved to know I’m suffering from the same CBA and more than a touch of bone idleness as those of you on this tread. wink
Seriously I feel so guilty, ashamed, useless and a bit worried about my complete lack of motivation. What makes it worse I just know I’ll look back and regret wasting all this time.

Lyndylou Mon 20-Apr-20 17:39:14

I have sorted out 4 kitchen drawers put everything through the dishwasher and cleaned the drawer then put everything back. That's it for 4 weeks at home!

I did bring the ironing up to date however that was a mistake, as I now have lovely neat piles of jumpers in my bedroom with not enough drawer space to put them in!

Finally I spend 4 hours a day working from my sofa and another 4 hours odd just watching television, messing about on the PC and I still have not motivated myself to give the living room a good dust.

PamelaJ1 Mon 20-Apr-20 17:43:04

I’m going through my photos, how dreary is that?
Why do I have about 10 of the same shot, or some idiot has it on the video setting so can’t edit.
Do I look better in this one than that.
I wake up every morning wondering what to delete today. It doesn’t get more exciting than that.

Grandmafrench Mon 20-Apr-20 17:53:12

Shouldn't everyone be absolutely thrilled, out and proud? All advice is that we're supposed to slow right down, take care of ourselves, get rid of stress and pressure from the "outside world". Enjoy the small things, observe, indulge and only do what we want and in our own time, maybe for the first time (ever?) in our lives. . Just holding on to our mental health is enough, I think.
ps. No bread-shaming needed here. I bake bread because I don't want to go to the boulangerie. French bread doesn't taste nice after a couple of hours, not the same if frozen, so I bake English bread which I can enjoy or freeze. Voilà/ There you go! Otherwise and for far too many things, I cannot be arsed either.

phoenix Mon 20-Apr-20 18:03:55

PamelaJ1 sorry, but that sort of counts as "housekeeping" as it's a form of tidying up. smile

I have been doing a bit more "proper" cooking though, but not baking, unless you count chicken pie made with bought puff pastry blush and of course, as I have posted before, standing in front of a pot of home made soup and waving a wooden spoon through it does make me feel like a contender for the title of "Domestic Goddess" (Was pleased with the chicken and mushroom, lovely flavour but consistency not quite what I hoped for, I blame having the WRONG CREAM, as mentioned in a previous post!)

EllanVannin Mon 20-Apr-20 18:04:22

I can do nothing lovely.
All I've done is two lots of dark washing and cooked a fry-up.

Collected washing off line, folded it onto the maiden then sat down and cut two fingernails that protruded beyond the others-----must be on the spectrum as I like them all the same length. smile
Still need filing as they're a bit rough, being rubbish at cutting nails on my right hand. They'll probably stay like that until they catch on something grin

This from someone whose nails were always perfectly manicured and painted, reduced to being saw-edged. Ah well, who'll notice ?

Because I was going to send for a shredder before all this descended upon us means that I haven't been able to dispose of all the outdated paperwork hidden at the sides of armchair and settee and because a shredder didn't come under the list of necessary purchases, my job tomorrow will be to gather them all up and bung them in a couple of large Asda bags which will look neater side by side rather than scattered all over the placegrin and hide them ! Life gets tedious.

Spirit is willing----
