I've discovered my "default" setting.......

And I'm ashamed to say it's "bone idle" combined with more than a touch of CBA blush

Yes, I clean the kitchen, bathroom, Hoover etc, but have I sorted out the spare room? Have I buffalo!

Have I used this extra time to up my non existent "beauty" regime, by applying moisturiser after my shower? Erm, judging by the dinosaur skin on my arms and legs, it would appear not.

Have I sorted through that drawer full of photos, or the one with various odds and ends of make up, or that glass pot on the dressing table full of earrings?

No, no and no again!

I am hopeless!

Fernbergien Tue 21-Apr-20 11:04:46

CBA just came through. Thanks.

Fernbergien Tue 21-Apr-20 11:02:19

Yes. What does CBA mean.
Started with good intentions and got a few things done then it went downhill. So joined the Club.
Started talking to myself although husband here.
But made cakes and banned bra like so many others. Not bored yet.

Witzend Tue 21-Apr-20 11:01:29

@polnan, it means ‘can’t be arsed’.

phoenix Tue 21-Apr-20 11:01:17

polnan (and others) CBA stands for Can't Be Arsed blush

Sickofweddingcake Tue 21-Apr-20 10:57:28

Morning all,
I have narrowed the 3 syllables of CBA down to one word: 'ceebs'.
In fact... I nearly never bothered posting!?

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 10:53:13

Just this....

henetha Tue 21-Apr-20 10:51:09

Thanks, Barmeyoldbat smile. I'll try telling myself it's
relaxation.... I will make myself go for a walk in a minute.

rowanflower0 Tue 21-Apr-20 10:49:14

Stop beating yourselves up!
It is a fact of life - the less you do, the less you want to do!

25Avalon Tue 21-Apr-20 10:48:59

I can get out there and dig and weed in our large garden but have I cleaned the house apart from 2 rooms, sorted and cleared out all the junk, got up to date with my paperwork, written my memoirs, done my knitting? Have I heck as like!!
Oh in mitigation apart from gardening I have made lots of soups including nettle soup.

Barmeyoldbat Tue 21-Apr-20 10:39:14

No Henetha its not lethargy its relaxation brought on by the need to just chill out and let it all wash over you. I do not even watch the daily briefings that they put out. In a minute I will go for a cycle ride, sneak a coffee and a bit of lunch at a takeaway place. Come back eat it in the garden as though I am on holiday and then back to finishing doing nothing. Bliss

henetha Tue 21-Apr-20 10:29:29

It's lethargy isn't it. Brought on by boredom . I've got it badly.
I'm trying to make myself do one extra task each day.
Yesterday it was planting dahlia corms. Today, if I can find the energy, I will fill a watering can and water the pots.

Wheniwasyourage Tue 21-Apr-20 10:27:34

Oh what a cheering thread! I have been doing a little desultory gardening and stopping as soon as I come over careless (which doesn't take long) and then spending the rest of the day doing not very much. There are old bank statements - and I'm not prepared to say how old - which finally need to be shredded, and a pile of other paperwork to be filed or shredded. Also lots of photos to file and goodness knows what else. I've kept up with the clothes washing, as I enjoy that, but the windows haven't been washed for ages and the kitchen floor is overdue and...

In the meantime I have some comfort reading to do and Easter eggs to finish.

Craftycat Tue 21-Apr-20 10:27:12

I did empty the larder & throw out all the out of date items ( 2 black sacks!!). Since then I have sat in the sun with a good book every afternoon & am a very nice brown colour- probably better than when I got back from Greece last year & all for free!
I have had the baking bug so we are fine for cakes & biscuits for a few months & DH has actually cooked dinner twice so far- very good it was too. I know it won't last & by the state of the kitchen afterwards I am happy with that!!
I will be happy to see him back off to work TBH as there is a limit to how much time you should spend with someone you love before the cracks start showing & I need some female chat!

Keeper1 Tue 21-Apr-20 10:20:29

I have three spare bedrooms full of clothes that need sorting out but you can’t rush these things there is an awful lot of planning to do the devil is in the detail and anyway everywhere is closed so I can’t get rid of any of it. So I will continue with my action plan until it is honed to perfection.

I did try the three ingredient scone recipe and now I have to eat them wink

handbaghoarder Tue 21-Apr-20 10:16:20

Phoenix This made me LOL. Not just me then?? I feel guilty but do I do anything about it? Nah. Manyana Initially I had the intention of doing so much but this soon evaporated. How on earth did i manage to work full time and keep a pristine home which ran like clockwork? I blamed retirement ?. Now i blame lockdown
Maybe once visitors are allowed again that will be the impetus to get straight again.....

Nannyme Tue 21-Apr-20 10:14:19

I am loving doing not much at all, and for the first time in years I am sleeping like a baby - so it must be doing some good. As for the beauty routines, sorting etc well maybe I’ll get around to it one day but probably not until I really have to and the. i won’t have the time.

inishowen Tue 21-Apr-20 10:07:59

I think its because lockdown has no end date. There's always tomorrow to get it done. At the beginning I pulled out lots of old family memorabilia and photos and began sorting them in the spare bedroom. If the grandchildren were here I'd have put them away to avoid damage, but as they are coming to no harm I've just left it. Husband made a comment today so it's time to tidy up!

Anne9054 Tue 21-Apr-20 10:06:12

Oh thank goodness for all these lovely posts. I too thought I was the only completely lazy person on the planet. When my lockdown started I was productive for a week but over the last 3 have spent all my time sofa surfing and GNing. How lovely others are the same.

Bring on your lovely posts. Thank you

polnan Tue 21-Apr-20 10:06:11

o.k what does CBA mean?

I am not lazy, honest I am not. I would love to do the list of jobs I have to do..

I just don`t have motivation, getupandgo... no it is not laziness

I just feel so flat, I want to be able to go out again, then I am sure I will feel heaps better.

sazz1 Tue 21-Apr-20 10:02:40

Sorted out the cupboards in the kitchen as everything was shoved in anywhere when we moved here in November! Now just unpacked the last few boxes in the guest room / office. Only been 5 months

Laurensnan Tue 21-Apr-20 09:50:40

Yes same here! Lazy...... plus boredom eating is kicking in too. My knickers are getting tight ??

hapgran Tue 21-Apr-20 09:38:18

They say that if you want something doing, ask a busy person. So true, when I have got schedules I get stuff done first- but, take away the schedules.....!

GrannyLaine Tue 21-Apr-20 08:54:13

phoenix
Have you noticed how sometimes cats stop half way through doing that, hold the position and sort of look at you as if to say "and?"

I can do that look if I get caught eating cake. For breakfast.

Urmstongran Tue 21-Apr-20 08:53:44

Oh phoenix I just love this thread! You are so witty, ably assisted by more than a few on here too. Your comment really made me laugh Barmeyoldbat - a great start to my day thank you.
?

This Spanish proverb suits us lot well. I cut it out of a newspaper back in the day and put it up on a wall out here.

Pittcity Tue 21-Apr-20 08:19:31

We love "House of Games" too, Gulligranny. It's repeats at the moment but just as good second time round.
We time our doing nothing around Richard Osman.
