Good Morning Mick and all. Happy St George's Day.
It is sunny here on the S Welsh coast and the little birds are singing their hearts out.
Good luck in your new job Scentia
I hope you are ok gilly, sadly I can't do anything but you are in my thoughts a lot ?
Facetimed family last evening which was lovely.
Stay safe everyone.

Sorry meant to say DH. Would like it to be DD though!

dragonfly46 Thu 23-Apr-20 09:16:03

Good morning from a sunny Leicestershire.

Changing the beds today while the weather is good.

Hard to tell how the dog is but he let me wipe his eye this morning and my DD seems to be successful giving the drops. I certainly feel calmer.

I too had a good telephone consultation with my lovely GP yesterday and I have exercises to do for my aching shoulder - iPad strain!

The highlight of the day is checking to see how much my hair has grown overnight!

That’s a very worthwhile job you are doing Scentia especially at this time. There must be plenty of vulnerable children out there.
I hope you hear from the relevant people gilly, just hang in there x

Can you send some blue sky and sunshine up North please GrannyGravy it’s cold and grey here.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 23-Apr-20 09:09:36

Oopsadaisy thinking of you ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 23-Apr-20 09:08:21

Goodmorning Mick and all, Happy St George's Day ??

Bright blue sky here in S E Essex it is meant to be the warmest day of the year here apparently ??

I might sit in the garden and read later, I am running out of jobs to do and there is only so much housework I can do each day.

Scentia good luck with your new job.

Keep safe and well folks ?

Good morning from a sunny Market Harborough.

Stay safe and sane during these mad days. Xx

gillybob Thu 23-Apr-20 08:56:17

Good morning from the NE coast where we have a grey and cold start to Thursday. Yesterday was quite bright but very cold here on the coast .

Braved the dreaded supermarket and managed a shop for my dad yesterday with a bit of drama that resulted in me showing myself up and crying my eyes out . I won’t go into details.

Still no call backs from the various people/authorities who are supposed to be ringing me back. Not entirely surprised .

A bit of work to catch up on today but I’ve brought it all home from “that place” so shall set it all up on the dining room table. Oh the temptation to shred the lot and throw it in the bin is sooooo great.

I’m so sorry to hear about your relative oopsadaisy it must be awful having someone so poorly and not being able to visit. My DS’s friend is very ill in hospital (not with CV) and his wife and family are not allowed to visit either. So upsetting.

Congratulations on your new job Scentia you must feel so proud. You’ll be exhausted this evening after a 15 hour shift.

Thinking of all my wonderful Gransnet friends .

Love Gillybob xx

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Newquay give your head a wobble - today IS the 23rd ‼️

A truly worthwhile job to be doing Scentia and all credit to you for doing it. Still, 9am till midnight? I truly didn’t know those hours would even be allowed. Genuine question here, not in anyway a criticism.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
Another lovely day is forecast.
DH usually goes to the supermarket on a Thursday but his right hand and arm are very swollen and he is in a lot of pain so he's not gone this morning. He has these flare ups every so often but usually in his legs and feet. Doctor doesn't seem too interested and just prescribes pain killers.
I've thought about going but I'm more vulnerable than he is. We'll come to a decision later about what to do.
No other plans for today apart from a walk along the sea shore.
Have the best day you can and stay safe everyone xx

Urmstongran
I am working as a child social worker with vulnerable children. Always best to do a long shift, too many faces can be an issue.

Grammaretto Thu 23-Apr-20 08:32:37

Good morning from the Scottish Borders . I washed my hair and dressed in summery clothes in anticipation of another scorcher only to feel the chill outside.

Scentia your 15 hr shift sounds brutal. How often will you need to do that?

Our usual groups meet on email and send photos of what we've been up to and what wildlife we have seen..

It's Shakespeare's birthday today so here is his famous sonnet 18 read by Helen Mirren,

Hoping everyone has the best day they can.

Good Morning from dare I say it cloudy Fife, I had expected it to be nice and bright today. However the day is young so will keep fingers crossed we see the sun. Scentia good luck for today it's a long shift. Just been listening to 2 different people taking part in the trials for the virus, I do admire them, not sure if I could do something like that but they are both very positive about the whole process. I wish them luck. Just the usual chores to do today and also have a pick up early afternoon from Sains. Other than that nothing else planned until our 8.00 clap for NHS. Hope everyone is looking after themselves - take care.

DH and I thought St George’s Day was yesterday-23rd-which is also birthday of one of his sisters too who we greeted online.
I thought the same about Scentia’s l-o-n-g shift too!

SusieB50 Thu 23-Apr-20 08:29:33

Good morning everyone from East London , another beautiful sunny morning . Never thought I would be wishing for rain , but some plants I moved a few weeks ago need a good downpour . Feel a bit more positive today , yesterday my DD and SiL received the £10K grant , so at the least the rent for their small craft cafe will be paid . They are relieved but are considering that they will have to rethink things as it will be a long time before they can open .
I have ordered an “odd fruit and veg box “ for next week .The contents are not the right size or shape for supermarkets so would have been sent to landfill .
DS and DiL and 2GDC cycled over early eve, GDC are loving learning to ride on the roads , a good opportunity for them , DS cycles to work usually but working from home now so missing the exercise ! Scentia- 15 hour shift ??? OMG !

Pleased to hear about your friend recovering Mick - good news ?

Gingster Thu 23-Apr-20 08:18:46

Good morning all from a calmer Suffolk coast. Went to the co op yesterday - no queues in our little town - so straight in. We wore our masks and gloves and I did feel happier in there. Staff still not wearing masks or gloves. I think they should. ?Got most of everything we needed but no flour, dried fruit, or baking stuff. . We really stocked up so that we shouldn’t have to go again for a good while. Didn’t disinfect everything, just took off packaging and threw it in the bin. Washed our hands thoroughly after. I sent my 8 GC Easter cards with a choc bunny inside 3 weeks ago. They all arrived at different times and one didnt arrive at all ....... until yesterday. Poor little Poppy, I felt so bad. Bunny must have been in isolation! ?. Have a gentle day with positive thoughts, ?

Gelisajams Thu 23-Apr-20 08:16:07

Good morning from a cloudy Morecambe Bay. DH is just back from his run but I am having an exercise free day. I bought myself a boiler suit to garden in a couple of years ago but it needs the legs and arms turning up. Today may be the day that finally gets done. I hate it when my back gets exposed when I bend or stretch and I thought a boiler suit may solve the problem. Take care and stay safe everyone. ?

Something of interest to you.
Being on Facebook ,one of my friends who I have mentioned on GM as to the virus.
Has posted on his experience of getting the Corona Virus ,as like going through HELL, but coming out the other side OK .
The retirement home he lives in Middlesborough ,was fumigated etc, and people he had mixed with also tested.
Mick

Nortsat Thu 23-Apr-20 08:09:21

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a sunny east London.

Feeling better each day and had a good phone consultation with one of the GP’s at our practice.
We were very upset to learn that a GP in our borough has died from Covid 19. It made me concerned for the kind young doctor, who phoned me at 7.40pm last night. ?

Had a lovely day in the garden yesterday, listened to an interesting play on the radio about the life and challenges faced by Mary Ann Evans (George Elliot).
I am working on a large tapestry cushion cover, the design of which is based upon a piece of 18th century damask. The colours are all different shades of blue, which you would imagine makes it more straight forward. However, it actually makes it more complicated because there are so many shades of the same colour.

Hope everyone has a good day, special thoughts to those facing challenges and ‘let’s be careful out there’. ?

Nannytopsy Thu 23-Apr-20 08:05:57

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Could you do a long distance clean on our bathrooms too please Kitty? There is an ironing pile with my name on it ... I may go now and start it - DH had a bad night but he is asleep now. I’ll creep out.
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning and Happy St George's Day from sunny Colchester.
Waiting for the bin men this morning as the road is heaped with six weeks worth of recycling.
Will spend the day in the garden as 21° is forecast.
We do Jay's pub quiz on YouTube every Thursday night after the NHS clap. It's a laugh with our extended family over Facebook messenger. Will record the Big Night In and skip over the boring bits later.
Big hugs to all sunshine

Curlywhirly Thu 23-Apr-20 07:48:12

Good morning from another sunny day in Cheshire. Today's forecast is it's going to be a hot one! I was busy again yesterday sewing the hospital scrubs and will do the same this morning, but intend to spend the afternoon enjoying the sun in our garden. Himself has been cutting down 2 nearly dead conifers, and because the tip is closed, he has been buring some of the wood in our chimnea (8.00pm onwards, to be mindful of the neighbours). He sits out there quite happily for a couple of hours, wrapped up (it still gets quite cold in the evenings) and I take him out the occasional cuppa. I hate the cold, so am afraid he's on his own ? Trouble is there is now a large gap where the trees were and we can't fill it with anything yet - hope the garden centres open soon!

Scentia good luck with the new job - 15 hour shift sounds quite gruelling, hope it's not too taxing. Lets us know how you get on. Best wishes to all who are struggling and hope the sunshine helps to cheer you up. Take care.

Ginny42 Thu 23-Apr-20 07:46:57

I too thought a 15 hour shift was very long and a journey to get there. Do take care Scentia.

Thank you for your concern NannyJan53 I hadn't thought I might need antibiotics. I'll see how if goes. Rinsing with salt water and using a water pick at the moment and keeping it very clean.
