Three signs that summer’s coming....

1. I’m now wearing summer trousers, not jeans.
2. Gave myself a much-needed pedicure today, feet were too hideous to display in sandals.
3. REALLY fancied a long, cold, G&T after our walk earlier (thank goodness we had the wherewithal) - now sitting in the garden to drink it.

Having said all that, no doubt Sod’s Law will now mean it’s freezing cold and p*ssing down all next week! (Let’s hope not)

I dealt with the beginnings of a wasps' nest in the cavity wall of my house at the weekend - SUMMER'S COMING!! sunshine

Witzend Mon 27-Apr-20 14:24:44

I love that, @Esspee!

grandtanteJE65 Mon 27-Apr-20 14:10:39

Here the weather has been sunny, dry and mild since before Easter.

I have now weeded the path, all 15 metres of it, and most of the vegetable garden.

Cat taking his afternoon nap curled up tight behind a pile of brushwood. Yesterday, he climbed the pear tree to the consternation of a crow.

The dandelions are in full bloom, so yes, summer is definitely on the way.

Two roses in flower already.
All my sweet pea seeds have grown in the greenhouse.
My berberis hedge has flowered for the first time.

It isn't very warm in west Northumberland either gillybob. I'm still wearing my fleecy winter jumper!
The leaves have unfurled on some of the trees, I love the fresh spring green.
The sparrows are busy nesting all around my house.
The grandchildren have had the paddling pool out. Brr!

Esspee Mon 27-Apr-20 09:41:49

@narrowboatnan. The shrinkage is due to the pandemic.
Please see the attachment for a fuller explanation.

narrowboatnan Mon 27-Apr-20 09:35:25

I have left my vest off
Saw a couple of lizards in the garden in the sun
Got my summer tops out of storage and found that some of them have shrunk over the winter! That’s never happened before!

Talking of bluebells, a dd sent this pic the other day -in woods close to their house in Oxford.

missdeke Mon 27-Apr-20 09:30:47

Summer duvet out, winter one put away
Garden needs watering every day
B****y hayfever taken hold with a vengeance.

posset Mon 27-Apr-20 09:12:14

Saw a swallow the other day.
Woods are swathed in wild garlic and/or bluebells.
Greenhouse is full to the brim with sprouting seeds.
Lunch outside every day.
Normal service will be resumed tomorrow (rain, cool).

1. I've been sewing seeds in the garden.
2. Husband is digging out a new path.
3. I had a salad lunch outdoors and treated myself to a glass of cider instead of a cup of tea.

I’ve seen a downland blue butterfly as well . What a cheering site..... they seem to love my Hebe bushes

Witzend Mon 27-Apr-20 08:18:36

Well, I did mention Sod’s Law, @Hetty58!

(We really could do with some rain here, but I’m only whispering that.)

Large G&T on patio after dinner at night..

Aepgirl Mon 27-Apr-20 07:48:25

The weather in the south has been glorious - good summer weather - but rain is forecast for tomorrow and the rest of the week. I hope this doesn’t last too long as the lockdown has been so much more bearable with the good weather.

oldgimmer1 Mon 27-Apr-20 07:34:21

Boots are ditched.
The leaves are on the trees.
The blossom is out.
The house is showing all the accumulated winter dirtblush.

NannyJan53 Mon 27-Apr-20 07:06:21

Have been eating outside for the past week,

Garden has sprung to life and have watered everyday

I have been wearing shorts for the past 2 weeks.

Rain is now forecast for the next 10 days! hmm Back to normal then smile

Esspee Mon 27-Apr-20 07:00:03

Had a bbq lunch on the patio every day for the past week.
Have had to water the garden every day it’s so dry.
My garden is a blaze of colour.
(Believe it or not I’m in Scotland)

I've sat outside in a skirt and sleeveless top to the great surprise of some of the men here who moved in since last summer. ( I live in a hostel - at the moment).
I've been drinking iced coffee.
I have the urge to plant things but that will have to wait until I am housed properly, with my dog.

Been out in my garden & getting a tan, fence painted & enjoyed sitting out talking to my neighbours at 2m distance.

Cropped trousers & shorts worn along with sleeveless tops, thin fleece required in chilly wind though.

Devon is sunny but windy, lovely to see sunshine every day. Next week/10 days forecast rain.

Cold nights though, still got thicker fleece & throw on the bed. Heating on morning & evening.

Craftycat Sun 26-Apr-20 22:51:38

Sun bed out on patio & I have a great tan already.
Lovely sound of neighbours children enjoying laying in their gardens.
G &T in garden in the evening.
I love this hot weather!!

SirChenjin Sun 26-Apr-20 22:45:36

We’re going out for a walk at 9/9.30pm and there’s still loads of light left.

I’m starting to think about getting the summer weight duvet out. Just need to find it now...

I’m no longer wearing my knee length or ankle wear boots - the ballet pumps were dug out from the back of the wardrobe

Callistemon Sun 26-Apr-20 22:24:21

We're eating outside (even dinner)
Everywhere is green (well, what we can see)
I'm wearing a short sleeved top at 10.20 pm

However the winter jerseys are still ready to wear.
And I won't need my new mac as I'm not going anywhere.

grannybuy Sun 26-Apr-20 22:22:11

Being able to sit outside in NE Scotland at this time of year is surprising, and definitely makes me feel that summer is coming. I'm feeling so ' summery ' that I ordered a large wooden planter today.

Luckygirl Sun 26-Apr-20 22:07:36

1. I have a tan from pottering in the garden.
2. I only have one hot water bottle at night.
3. There has been a cuckoo in my garden (!) this week and its song is very very loud indeed. I was in the house on a zoom conversation with DD and she could hear it through the window!!
